Release information

This card is part of the Sample Set, a small collection of cards created in order to promote the e-Reader prior to its release in Japan on December 1, 2001. This card is part of the first produced collection of 3 cards utilized at the Game Boy Advance product announcement meeting held during a press conference in Tokyo on March 7, 2001, with the demonstrations given by Tsunekazu Ishihara. Due to its placement at the end of the Neo Era, it contains elements of both the Neo Era and e-Card Era, maintaining a level but updating to an e-Card card design. It was never intended for distribution, but an unknown amount of copies have made their way out to the public.

Trivia

This card is almost a reprint of Wizards Promo Pikachu, with the only gameplay difference being 50HP instead of 40HP. Additionally, the data included for the level, HP, and Pokédex entry in the e-Reader strip data match Wizards Promo Flying Pikachu.

Origin

Scratch and Thunderbolt are both moves in the Pokémon games. Pikachu can learn Thunderbolt, but not Scratch. This card's e-Reader Pokédex entry comes from Wizards Promo Flying Pikachu.
