Release information

This tag was first distributed as part of the Trainer Tag Battle with Two People, an event held as part of the Kids Game Festa that was present at ÆON Malls across Japan on weekends during March and April 2022.[1] Events in the areas of Kyushu and Chubu, respectively held on the weekends of March 12-13 and 26-27, were planned to accommodate 125 groups of two people, one of which was required to be of junior high school age or younger. Spaces were allocated on a first come, first served basis. The same format was to be applied to events in the areas of Kanto, Kansai, and Tohoku; however, a March 30 update on the Official Pokémon Mezastar website announced that spaces would instead be allocated by lottery on the day if more than 200 groups were present at the event reception area. Kanto area events were held on the weekend of April 2-3, Kansai area events were held on the weekend of April 9-10, and Tohoku area events were held on the weekend of April 23-24. Each group went up against a pair of Trainers in a Trainer Tag Battle (the same opponents as those from the fourth Super Tag set) and both members were randomly given either a copy of this tag or a Ice Rider Calyrex tag regardless of its outcome.

Visitors at the Kids Game Festa events could also obtain a free gift set comprising a promotional Pikachu tag, a Trial Memory tag, and a Super Tag Companion Guide; obtain a Mezastar TV sticker set by proving to attendants they had subscribed to the Mezastar TV YouTube channel; and watch performances by the Mezastar Navigators Masato, Ai, Sakura, and J. Visitors at the Kyushu and Chubu area events could also try Get Now! mode and distribute one tag for free (this was initially announced for the Kanto, Kansai, and Tohoku area events as well but was canceled following the March 30 update).

A second Trainer Tag Battle with Two People event was held under the banner "Mezastudio Kawasaki: The 1st Battle" at Lazona Kawasaki Plaza, Kawasaki, Kanagawa on the weekend of April 30 and May 1, 2022.[2] Reception for the event was at the open-air Rufa Square on the second floor, while the event itself was held at the Mezastudio Kawasaki, a dedicated Pokémon Mezastar area of the Namco arcade on the fourth floor. Each day was planned to accommodate up to 360 groups of two people (one of which was required to be of junior high school age or younger); spaces would be allocated by lottery if more than 360 groups were present at the start of the event. The Trainer Tag Battle opponents were the same as the initial event and the same Calyrex tags were distributed amongst participants. Visitors could obtain the same three-piece gift set and Mezastar TV sticker set available at the initial event for free, as well as a Pokémon Mezastar Special Shopper bag and two other Special tags: Garchomp and Dragapult. A Special Kyurem tag was also given away to visitors at the Namco Lazona Kawasaki store. Groups that achieved the ten highest scores on each day were awarded a certificate; the top three groups on each day were also awarded a framed set of the two Calyrex tags. Performances by the four Mezastar Navigators were held twice a day at Rufa Square and were joined by guest singers Naomi Tamura and Tomohiro Hatano at the May 1 event.

The tag was available again in the same manner at the Trainer Tag Battle with Two People Calyrex Challenge!, which was held at participating stores with a Pokémon Mezastar machine on weekends between June 18 and July 3, 2022.[3] Different stores had different group capacities; locations would conduct a lottery to assign spaces if more attendees arrived at the start of an event. Unlike the previous Trainer Tag Battle with Two People events, there was no age restriction for group participants. All participants that won their battle were given a "winner" certificate.
