World Pokémon Ecological Society

A screenshot of the World Pokémon Ecological Society lifestream

"World Pokémon Ecological Society webinar" was a livestream webinar hosted by Jacq's female assistant, featuring several scientists who watched short clips of various Pokémon and analyzed them from a scientific perspective. The highlight of the event was the discovery of a new species: Wiglett, a Pokémon resembling Diglett, which was registered by Jacq in his ecological studies.

This promotional livestream marked the first official reveal of Wiglett to fans. It aired on September 28, 2022, on the official website. More details about Wiglett were later shared on the dedicated article on official Pokémon Scarlet and Violet website.

Prelude

This predude is a speech from Jacq's assistant:

Oh Jacq! I told him to check his schedule. His research results are outstanding. Why he is so scatterbrained... Everyone is waiting... What am I going to do... Eek! The camera is rolling! Wah! Oh, no, what am I going to do... The cable cord is cut off... Gasp! Ahem... Um...hello everyone. Welcome to the World Pokémon Ecological Society! Today's special lecture, "The ecological studies of the Paldea region", which will be presented by Jacq ...'s assistant! Jacq was supposed to join us today but he can't make it back from his fieldwork... Today, what I am going to talk about is based on ... um "Rare videos of wild Pokémon in the Paldea region", which is entrusted by Jacq!! Let's get started!!

Pokémon

Habitat Visible Pokémon Comments
Grassland #0335 Zangoose Zangoose

So here is the first video! It is a video clip of a vast grassland!

Wild Zangoose and Seviper! They are often fighting each other!

Zangoose is fanning out its claws. It is probably a type of threatening stance.

Seviper is also barring its fangs. The tail! That tail must be part of attack preparation based on the way it moves.

Oh watch out! It's narrowingly dodging! Look! Look!

Mortal enemies! That was a rare video of Zangoose and Seviper's battle! As much as we would like to find out which one wins, I would like to love onto the next video.

Forest #0820 Greedent Greedent

The next one is a video clip of a forest. Starting with Grass-type and Bug-type, many Pokémon inhabit in this area!

That Greedent is quite fixated on its meal, isn't it. It seems to be a rather inattentive Pokémon, which I'm sure you've all noticed by now.

It stuffs its cheeks and tail with so many Berries! It's stuffed!

There is another Berry on the tree! ...no, it is an Applin! A major discovery!

Because Applin normally lives inside of an apple, it not only hides from enemies, but matures by feeding on the flesh of the apple.

When it runs of the apple, it becomes dehydrated. That makes it weak, doesn't it?

That was laid back Greedent and an Applin that looks just like a Berry found in the forest. This video shows how they are completely different even though they are both Pokémon.

Wetlands #0194 Wooper Wooper

So, the next is a video clip of a wetland. There might be Pokémon in the video that prefer wetlands.

Look! Those are Paldean Wooper! It is a major discovery!

Unlike Wooper that prefers to live underwater, Wooper in this form live on land. To adapt living in land, they began to cover their bodies with a film, which is very poisonous...

The poisonous film certainly does set this form of Wooper apart. But what drive the need to develop poison, I wonder?

They probably protect themselves from enemies with the poison? This is powerful!

Ok! That was a video clip of a Wooper that live on land, which is unique to the Pladea region.

Olive Orchards #0050 Diglett Diglett

It's a video clip of the olive orchards in the Pladea region! This place is known for its sun-drenched, dry climate.

Based on the mounds of soil, it must be Diglett.

Diglett do spend lost o f their tie underground. Yes, they are known to occasionally show their faces. ...See? Just like that.

Look! They are all moving to the shade!

Their skin is very thin! Exposure to sunlight increases their blood temperature and makes them weak!

Ok! That was a video of the Ground-type Diglett in the wild, found in the olive orchards!

Desert #0551 Sandile Sandile

Sand, sand, sand... sand all over the place. Desert as far as the eye can see! Let's see what Pokémon we will get to see!

That would be... A horde of Sandile, and Krokorok, the evolution of Sandile.

They burrow into the sand! And move as though they are swimming! Look! Look!

It is theorized that they move the way they do to avoid being spotted by enemies. Isn't that right? I've also seen it is hypothesized that the hot sun helps to keep their body temperature from dropping. Such unique adaptation were surely gained from living in the desert ecosystem.

Krokorok has specialized eyes that enable it to see in the dark. So-called night vision. Oh! That was a rare video clip of Desert Croc Sandile and Krokodile!

Snow montains #0459 Snover Snover

Well, the next one is a video clip of snow mountains. It's the same Paldea region, but when the climate is different, this Pokémon that inhabit the area are also very different!

Look! Look! It is Abomasnow and its pre-evolution, Snover.

I supposed everyone here knows, that Snover plant their feet in the snow to absorb the cold. The Berries that grow around their bellies in the spring are supposed to have a texture akin to frozen treats.

Snover is staring this way. Perhaps it is rare to see humans on snowy mountains.

Due to the blizzard created by Abomasnow, it is hard to see.

Yikes! With a blizzard like that, you can't see ahead at all! Glad you made it back safely, Jacq!

Beach #0960 Wiglett Wiglett

Well, this is the final footage! What kind of Pokémon will be on the beach... Oh? ...huh? ...That is... what?!

Look... what?

Huh? What Pokémon is that? What seems to be so-called Diglett?

I've never seen a Pokémon quite like that one. Could it be a Diglett? It resembles Diglett but its coloring is different. Could it be a regional form unique Pladea?

This many Diglett of a different color in one place?! So lucky!

Is this possible? They must be an evolved form of Diglett! Instead of evolving into triplets like Dugtiro, they adapt to a marine environment which another form...?

Look! It is a different form! It's a major discovery!

Aieee...Jacq's notes are cut off here... What is this Pokémon? Um... I must fill time with a survey! Survey of 15 seconds as usual!

Is the Paldean form hypothesis dominating? Would Ground-type Diglett live near water like this in the first place...?

I have to agree. They do have certain anatomical similarities, and it is possible that a regional form could have different coloration. Even so...

A major discovery! They are so lengthening their bodies! A discovery! Look!

This settles it! Since their appearance is different to this extent, they must be a completely different species?! This is the first time we witness this Pokémon.

Look! Look!

What do the researchers in the Paldea region think about this? The form and movement indeed look like Diglett, but they are probably different Pokémon!

Oh! There is a memo! Let's see... "This Pokémon that lives on the beach or in the sea of the Paldea region would be "Wiglett". Although they appeared to be the Pladean Form of Diglett, we've learned that they live and eat differently as if they are entirely different Pokémon. According to the research, it is said that it is a coincidence that they have similar bodies, as they both burrow in the ground and the sand." Apparently so! Jacq dropped a bomb at the end. Pokémon ecology is so deep. I will study more, too! Ah! It is time!

Well everyone, that would be all for today! Please come visit the Pladea region if you get a chance! That would be all for Jacq's special lecture!

Wow, that was an incredible discovery! Who knew that kind of Pokémon existed?!

You must share this. Let's exchange thoughts with #WorldPokémonEcologicalSociety

Should we expect some kind of certificate for attending this webinar?

You can make a certificate at the end of the lecture. It is one's duty as a member!

That is it! Please exit the meeting!
