Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! Demo Version is a demo edition of Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!. It is downloadable on the Nintendo Switch's eShop. Unlike other core series demos, there is no interaction with the main series games. This demo is also the only demo released after the release of the games it is based off of.

Gameplay

The player steps into the shoes of the protagonist Chase or Elaine. The demo is set in a modified version of Viridian Forest. The player meets up with Professor Oak, who then asks the player if they are helping with Pokémon research. Regardless of the response, Professor Oak requests the player to explore Viridian Forest through catching and battling Pokémon and states that he will wait at the gate leading to Pewter City. Once the demo is complete, the screen then defaults to a splash screen of Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! saying "Thanks for playing!", with the only option to press the Home button to end the demo.

During gameplay, the player is only given access to the Pokédex, Bag, and party menu options, the Options screen, and the "Play with Pikachu/Eevee" option. As a result, the player is unable to save progress at any point; exiting out of the demo will end the demo. The player is also given six Pokémon to start off: Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Meowth, and Eevee. Any of these Pokémon can be nicknamed at any time. The movesets differ for Pikachu and Eevee based on which version is played, with the partner Pikachu being used for Let's Go, Pikachu! and the partner Eevee being used for Let's Go, Eevee!. Interestingly enough, the met description for all of these Pokémon are at Pallet Town, with the partner Pokémon having an additional description of "came to the Kanto region through some mysterious force" and having "met each other again in Pallet Town".

Trivia

  • Though the map description of Viridian Forest in the demo is exactly the same as in the main games ("A deep, shady forest filled with nature and Bug-type Pokémon."), no Bug-type Pokémon can be found in the demo.
  • Should the player be overwhelmed by their defeat in the demo, the demo treats it as a Game Over and will show the splash screen of Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, indicating the end of the demo.
