Six months prior to the events of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the first Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon, a Pidgeot, was discovered. AZ attempted to quell it with his Floette, but his advanced age prevented him from partaking in a prolonged battle. Urbain/Taunie, who had been staying at Hotel Z, stepped in and battled with Floette, defeating the Rogue Mega Pidgeot. Impressed, Vinnie of Quasartico Inc. began entrusting the young Trainer with some of the company's intelligence on Rogue Mega Evolution. This inspired Urbain/Taunie to form Team MZ.
Over the following six months, Urbain/Taunie recruited two more members to Team MZ: Naveen, who joined in exchange for studio space after he ran away from his grandma's home; and Lida, who joined in exchange for lodging after she was unable to her pay her former room's rent when her roommate at the time moved on without her.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Urbain/Taunie meets the player at Gare de Lumiose after the latter arrived in Lumiose. Urbain/Taunie helps the player get their bag back from a Pancham and then helps them out of a battle zone and into Hotel Z to rest, where they offer the player to join Team MZ and save Lumiose.
From Main Mission 10: The Secrets of Mega Evolution onwards, Team MZ assists Quasartico Inc. in defeating Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon. With Vinnie as their direct contact, all of Team MZ gets a call once Rogue Mega Evolution is detected. To deal with more Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokemon, the team splits up after every strategy meeting. In total Urbain/Taunie, Lida and Narveen each fight five Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokemon alongside the player.
In between Main Mission 25 and Main Mission 26 Urbain/Taunie and the player receive an invitation as Team MZ's leader and secret weapon respectively, to participate in the SPC's battle tournament. Shortly after, Naveen takes the player and Urbain/Taunie to Boutique Couture to help them dress up.
After the player completes 15 Infinite Z-A Royale matches, Urbain/Taunie withdraws from active involvement as the team's leader to become the new CEO of Quasartico, though they assert that they will "always be Team MZ." Thereafter, when spoken to at Hotel Z while Urbain/Taunie is absent, Lida states they are "still our team leader."
Mega Dimension
In the Mega Dimension DLC, Korrina and Ansha join Team MZ in order to assist them in solving the mystery of Hyperspace Lumiose.
