I don't see why we need this...

The article's basically about something that only works with downloaded or pirate versions of Diamond & Pearl. Articles about ROM editors for the Generation III games obviously wouldn't fly, so I don't see why we'd need this article... - unsigned comment from Shiningpikablu252 (talkcontribs)

I'm also challenging the notability, though I'm not sure tangents like this are discussed in the notability requirements. --Pie ~ 18:46, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. Something like GameShark's okay, since though its use is frowned on by Nintendo, it's not an illegal copy of the game. TTEchidna 01:01, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Stiiiiiiill don't like this... TTEchidna 10:23, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
It works with a flashcart or an ARDS ... so you don't need a pirated copy.. think of it as something that jsut spits out ARDS codes instead. - unsigned comment from Sylari (talkcontribs)
I have equipment that lets me load/dump save games from my official pokemon diamond/pearl card. So yes, you can use PokeSav with an official card. Sabresite 22:22, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
I can back this up. You can use it with Platinum's official cart as well. As long as you have something to dump and load save files from their cartridge, you can use Pokésav. Ryuartyi 22:31, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

AR Codes

You don't need an illegal copy - it makes only it easier, but you can also start from nothing and generate AR codes. - unsigned comment from Yvansoftware (talkcontribs)

Article Name Change

The actual correct name of Pokesav is indeed "Pokesav" and not "Pokésav" - the program is listed as such on the author's webpage. I propose a name change to "Pokesav" and not "Pokésav" - unsigned comment from Coolbho3000 (talkcontribs)

But the author meant Pokésav just like others mean Pokémon when they type Pokemon, Pokénav when the type Pokenav, and Pokédex when they type PokedexPokeManiac102 22:38, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah. Likewise for Pokémon.com, whose address very obviously is pokemon.com. TTEchidna 07:11, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
I disagree. I have named my program PokeMod, not PokéMod. I know the proper spelling of Pokémon, however have chosen to not spell it as such. I would also go as far as to say that the author named it POKESAV, not Pokesav, as a romanji version of the same name. Thereore the program must be written in Romanji, and pronounced in Japanese. Also, the name of a program is material to its purpose and existence and should not be altered because of someone's opinion who is not the author.

I request that this article be modified and the name changed to POKESAV, where its name is explained as a Romanji shortened version of the full name in Japanese ポケモン セーブデータ改造ツール Sabresite 22:37, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Pokemon

i got an uberpass from this - thats a probopass with roar of time, spacial rend, judjment, and all stats at 999. anyone want one? 折り紙ガイ - 離す 貢献 18:58, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

So, basically, you're asking us, the majority of which are against Pokesav, to accept a hacked Pokemon? If this was Smogon, you'd be infracted. TorchicBlaziken (talk) 19:39, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

recovering skarmory

whats with that anyway? --折り紙ガイ - 離す 貢献 16:30, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

That's what I was thinking. Skarmory can Roost, it doesn't need recover (although Roost negates the flying type for the rest of the round).--Coolbho3000 02:13, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

The only point I'd see to a Recovering Skarmory is to avoid the danger of a Ground-type attack; with Roost, you're left vulnerable to one of the most common moves used by Sweeper Pokémon. Diachronos 16:09, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Well it can get Brave Bird via breeding (which gives recoil). SO it would be able to heal from that. --Sivart345 19:26, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

I heard...

It's not compatible with Platinum. True? Not true? Is the developer planning on something for Platinum? No? Yes? What happens if you trade a Pokésav'd Pokémon to Platinum? Does it break? TTEchidna 03:47, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

COM created a separate version specifically for Platinum, we translated it: http://www.pokesav.org/main/download-pokesav. The D/P version doesn't work with Platinum saves, the Platinum version doesn't work with D/P saves. Trading a Pokésav'd Pokémon to Platinum (and vice versa) will not break anything. It'll just work. Coolbho3000 03:51, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

No idea if this is relevant but ...

The English versions of Pokesav D/P and Plat are infected with trojans. HGSS seems to be clean for now. I couldn't see anything on the site about this, it could be on their forums but I can't be bothered to make an account there. It might be a good idea to indicate the presence of trojans here for now .... or not ... I'm not sure.TheProphetJerematic 18:34, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

I checked with MSE and it came up clean. What were you using to check them? Where did you download them? You should only download stuff from the creator. Turtwig Lover 05:21, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and attempted to download from ProjectPokemon.org. I'm not sure what it is but the trojan very nearly did a number on my sisters laptop requiring a full disinfection. Any attempt to view the page on my comp is re-directed by Kaspersky witha huge red alert telling me of a trojan.TheProphetJerematic 20:00, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Attempted Dling the english HGSS one. AVG detected it as malware. I quarantined it just to be on the safe side. --Inhumanrampager 14:25, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

project pokemon and pokestation

[1] no longer works so I replace that with [2] from earlier edits. Please raise objections here or it will be reverted thanks. Gspbeetle 17:33, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Pokegen

Pokegen has phased out pokeSAV so I suggest we change the article to one about the newer pokemon hacking program. HackCollector (talk) 21:05, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Page Overhaul

It seems to me that this page is in need of a severe overhaul, and moving the topic from Pokesav to Pokegen is only a bandaid. This page can become focused on programs such as Pokesav and Pokegen. I think it's possible to discuss the matter from a neutral POV as well, indicating the reasons each side feels such programs are acceptable or unacceptable without laying judgment on either. More however, I feel that Bulbapedia should not link to any site providing downloads for said programs. I feel like that would indicate some level of tacit approval on the part of Bulbapedia, which is simply not the case. More, as was said above, some of the sites offering such downloads have been targets for mischief in the past. But ultimately, we're here to provide information on the subject, nothing more.
