Oblivion Wing inflicts damage on the target and restores the user's HP by 75% of the damage dealt. It can hit non-adjacent opponents in Triple Battles.
If the user is holding a Big Root, the HP restored is increased by 30% (making the restored HP 97.5% of the damage dealt). Big Root does not increase the damage dealt.
If the target has the Ability Liquid Ooze, the user will lose the amount of HP it would have gained instead.
Oblivion Wing cannot be used if the user is under the effects of Heal Block.
Generation VIII
Pokémon Sword and Shield
In Versions 1.0 to 1.2.1 of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Oblivion Wing could not be selected in a battle. Starting with Version 1.3.0, it is usable and functions the same as it did in previous generations.
Bold indicates a Pokémon gains STAB from this move. Italics indicates a Pokémon whose Evolution or alternate form receives STAB from this move. A dash (−) indicates a Pokémon cannot learn the move by the designated method. An empty cell indicates a Pokémon that is unavailable in that game/generation.
The first time the user's sync move is used each battle, the sync move countdown is reduced by three.
Notes:
Oblivion Wing:
Description prior to version 2.10.0 (from June 28, 2021): Restores the user's HP based on the amount of damage dealt to the target. Each use restores up to half of the user's maximum HP.
Description prior to unknown version after version 2.10.0: The more damage dealt to the target, the more this move restores the user's HP. Each use restores up to approximately 50% of the user's maximum HP.
It damages enemies and absorbs their HP.* It damages Pokémon, even those far away. It also restores your HP. The more damage it causes, the more damage it restores.*
Yveltal creates a transparent violet sphere in front of it, with blue electricity-like energy in it. It then shoots a violet beam of energy. Anything touched by the beam withers, or turns into stone.
Oblivion Wing is the most efficient HP-draining move, recovering 75% of damage dealt with 80 base power (effectively recovering 60 base power's worth of damage).
