Trivia

  • Even though the move cannot be used in-game in X and Y, AZ's Eternal Flower Floette is seen using it during a flashback of the Kalos war.
  • In the room service minigame at Hotel Richissime, there is a food style option that selects the name of a random move, in which Light of Ruin can be mentioned. This was the only way for the move's name to be seen legitimately in any game prior to Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
  • Light of Ruin has the highest base power of all Fairy-type moves, excluding Z-Moves and Max Moves.
    • A Twinkle Tackle based on Light of Ruin has the highest base power of all Fairy-type moves.
  • Light of Ruin is the only Fairy-type move that causes recoil damage.
  • Of all moves, Light of Ruin went the longest between being programmed into a game and being legitimately available in a game. It was programmed into X and Y, released in 2013, but not legitimately available until Pokémon Legends: Z-A, released 12 years later.
