Freeze (Japanese: こおらせる Freeze) is a skill in Pokémon Shuffle.
Activation
Certain types are immune to freeze. Immunities are indicated by X's in the chart below:
| Status condition effectiveness | ||||||||||||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Condition | Defender's type | |||||||||||||||||
| Normal | Fighting | Flying | Poison | Ground | Rock | Bug | Ghost | Steel | Fire | Water | Grass | Electric | Psychic | Ice | Dragon | Dark | Fairy | |

If a Pokémon is immune to freeze, or already has any status condition, then this skill will not activate.
Effect

When activated, this skill inflicts freeze for 3 moves.
A frozen Pokémon cannot use any disruptions, its disruption countdown is paused, and it will take ×1.2 Ice damage.
- The triggering hit does not benefit from this ×1.2 damage, but subsequent hits in its combo will benefit.
Other damage multipliers, such as those based on match size, combo count, type matchups, and other skill effects such as Ice Dance, are applied as usual. See Pokémon Shuffle → Damage for more details.
Note that a foe's current status condition will tick down its duration after a move is made, but before the second hit onwards of the move's resulting combo. This can result in the status effect being active for the first match of the combo, but being inactive for the subsequent matches in the same combo.
Skill level growth
Increasing skill level will increase the activation rate.

Trivia
- Seel having Freeze may be a reference to its frigid habitat, as well as Ice being the other type of its evolved form Dewgong in the core series.
- Hitmonchan being able to swap its skill to Paralyze, Freeze, or Burn may be a reference to the core series moves Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, and Fire Punch. Each of these moves inflicts the corresponding status condition, and Hitmonchan is able to learn all three moves through level-up.
