Cleavon Schpielbunk

Cleavon Schpielbunk (Japanese: ヒート南野 Heat Minamino) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime. He is a famous director and the winner of the Golden Growlithe Award at the Flea Collar Film Festival (Japanese: ビンヌムービー画祭 グランプリ Binnes Movie Festival Grand Prix). Some of his famous titles include I Saw What You Ate Last Tuesday and Pokémon in Love.

History

Schpielbunk first appeared in Lights, Camera, Quack-tion. He was scouring the Kanto countryside for actors for his latest title, Pokémon in Love after the male lead, an Abra Teleported off the film set. Cleavon watched in amazement as Ash and Katrina took on Team Rocket, and invited everyone to audition their Pokémon for his upcoming film.

Pikachu, Katrina's Raichu, Arbok, Weezing, Meowth, Vulpix, and Psyduck, though Misty originally wanted Staryu, all audition for a role in the film. The Pokémon easily passed after showing off their dancing skills. Next was the singing stage. Though Team Rocket's Pokémon all fail their auditions after the lead actress, Wigglytuff took a disliking to them. Psyduck, however, was given the lead role after all the other auditioning Pokémon stood aside because of Wigglytuff's prima donna attitude. Team Rocket later gatecrashed the film set and stole all of the Pokémon. Though Psyduck used a powerful Confusion attack to save the actors and blast Team Rocket off.

In Go West, Young Meowth Schpielbunk invited Ash, his friends, and Delia to Hollywood to watch the world premiere of Pokémon in Love. Much to his dismay, his guests didn't enjoy the movie, mostly because of the fact that they weren't in it. Schpielbunk claimed that since it was a Pokémon movie, he had to cut out all of the human roles. He also added that he couldn't get anyone famous to show up for the premiere.

Character

Cleavon Schpielbunk is an enthusiastic individual who often speaks through a megaphone to command attention on set. He has a clear vision for his films and their plot, however his creative process is often chaotic and lacks direction.
