Cards from the set were available across three Kalos Starter Set Decks—the Chespin Deck, the Fennekin Deck, and the Froakie Deck—and comprised debuts of several Generation VI Pokémon, including a handful supporting the new Fairy type and the evolved forms of the Kalos first partner Pokémon. Each deck included a sheet of damage counters and status markers, a coin, a checklist and summary of changes in the XY Series, a 2-player playmat and rulesheet, a deck box, and a code card for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online that would unlock digital versions of the respective deck within the game. The first full expansion of the XY Series, XY, was accompanied by a pair of Theme Decks upon its official release on February 5, 2014. The Resilient Life and Destruction Rush Theme Decks feature two Kalos region Legendary Pokémon: the Life Pokémon Xerneas and the Destruction Pokémon Yveltal. Resilient Life comprised both Fairy-type and Psychic-type Pokémon, while Destruction Rush contained Darkness-type and Fighting-type Pokémon. Each deck included an exclusive Cracked Ice Holofoil print of their featured Pokémon, a sheet of damage counters and status markers, a coin, a 2-player playamt and rulesheet, a card checklist and summary sheet, a deckbox, and a code card to unlock a digital version of it in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online.

XY Blisters
Bulbanews has multiple articles related to this subject:
In addition to the XY Theme Decks, six different XY Blisters made their way to store shelves for release on February 5, 2014. Single Pack Blisters included one XY booster pack, a coin, and an exclusive Cosmos Holofoil print of either Dragon Vault Salamence or Plasma Freeze Dragonite. Two Pack Blisters came with a coin, two XY booster packs, and, much like the Black & White Two Pack Blisters, featured a trio of exclusive Cosmos Holofoil variants. One included Dark Explorers Venusaur, Boundaries Crossed Charizard, and Plasma Blast Blastoise; the other included Dragon Vault Dragonite, and Dragons Exalted Garchomp and Hydreigon. The print of Blastoise erroneously lists the copyright as ©2012, even though the Plasma Blast expansion was released in 2013 and the blister packs in 2014. This was corrected when the six promotional cards were printed again eight months later in the XY Knock Out Collection.
In addition to three XY booster packs and a coin, the Three Pack Blisters featured Cosmos Holofoil prints of either Dragons Exalted Gyarados or Plasma Storm Gallade. These blisters used the plastic clamshell packaging first seen on varieties for the Black & White expansion and were not initially available in North America. It was not until their inclusion on the Pokémon Center online store in August 2014 that prompted their distribution in the North American market. Variations of these blisters with the more traditional paperboard packaging were also made available at a later date.
The coins included within the first release of these blisters were mostly repackaged from Noble Victories, Next Destinies, and Dark Explorers-related merchandise. Different coins were included in waves of Single Pack Blisters that shipped with Garchomp-EX Boxes for release in April 2014. These updated blisters came with Black-backed versions of the Xerneas and Yveltal coins from the XY Theme Decks, as well as Black-backed, Gold Mirror Holofoil Pikachu coins. The Xerneas and Yveltal coins were only available in shipments to Target stores, while the Pikachu coins were more widely available. Another wave of Two Pack Blisters was also shipped with Flashfire products: blisters featuring the evolved Kanto first partner Pokémon included a Large-sized, Black-backed, Silver Cracked Ice Holofoil Deoxys coin; blisters featuring the three Dragon-type Pokémon included a Large-sized, Black-backed, Silver Cracked Ice Holofoil Genesect coin.

The XY Elite Trainer Box came in two varieties: one featuring Xerneas and one featuring Yveltal. Each box also contained eight XY booster packs, 65 themed card sleeves, two acrylic Special Condition markers, six damage counter dice, one large die for coin flips, four dividers, and an XY Player's Guide that provided an overview of the XY expansion. XY Trainer Kit
Bulbanews has multiple articles related to this subject:
- Main article: XY Trainer Kit (TCG)
Trainer Kits were first conceived in the EX Series as a way to introduce prospective players to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The XY Trainer Kit was the first iteration of the XY Series and was released on March 12, 2014. Each kit was packaged with two pre-constructed Half Decks featuring Sylveon and Noivern, with the Sylveon Half Deck focusing on Fairy-type Pokémon and the Noivern Half Deck focusing on Darkness and Psychic-types. None of the cards have rarity symbols and each feature a collection number and set symbol exclusive to the kit. The cards are numbered in such a way to allow them to be played in the kit's example battle; cards could also be easily reset if the decks were accidentally shuffled prior to conducting an example battle.
In addition to the Half Decks, the XY Trainer Kit also contained two booklets to guide players through the game, an exclusive deck box, a rulebook, damage counters, status counters, a coin featuring the Kalos first partner Pokémon, a playmat, and a code card to unlock the cards in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online. Redeeming the code card also unlocked the digital Mindbind Theme Deck, a combination of both Half Decks into a full 60-card deck.

The Single Pack Blisters featured one Flashfire pack, a coin, and either a Skiddo or Honedge Cosmos Holofoil XY Black Star Promotional card. According to retailer material, the blisters were originally planned for an August 2014 release, presumably to coincide with the launch of Furious Fists, and were set to contain three booster packs from each of the first three XY Series expansions. While the promotional cards remained the same, the pack selections were updated to include two Evolutions, one Fates Collide, and one BREAKpoint. The TCGO code cards similarly remained the same, providing only the promotional Pokémon-EX card and no additional special deck, unlike other tin code cards available at the time.

Bulbanews has multiple articles related to this subject:
- Main article: Battle Arena Decks: Xerneas vs. Yveltal (TCG)
The Battle Arena Decks: Xerneas vs. Yveltal were the first entry in a new product line that launched on October 22, 2014. Each box contained two 60-card decks themed around aura trio members Xerneas or Yveltal, both of which were featured on never-before-seen promotional cards. The decks collectively contained 20 Sheen Holofoil cards. The product also came with two metallic coins, a 2-player playmat and rulesheet, a code card to play these decks on the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, two deckboxes, two sets of damage counters, and a Quick Guide to help players bolster their strategies.
Of the two coins, only the Blue Confetti Holofoil Xerneas coin was exclusive to the product. Additionally, included were multiple copies of six exclusive cards: XY Promo Xerneas, Yveltal, and Trevor, Holofoil versions of the Unnumbered ©2013 prints of both Fairy Energy and Darkness Energy, and an exclusive Non Holofoil print of Flashfire Carbink.

XY Knock Out Collection
Bulbanews has an article related to this subject:
Initially released in Canadian Wal-Marts, and then to Rite-Aids in the United States, the XY Knock Out Collection promotional boxes each contained two booster packs, a coin, and three Cosmos Holofoil variant cards. The cards were the same as February 2014's XY Two Pack Blisters: the first features Dark Explorers Venusaur, Boundaries Crossed Charizard, and Plasma Blast Blastoise, while the second features Dragon Vault Dragonite, and Dragons Exalted Garchomp and Hydreigon. The booster packs came from XY and Flashfire, and the included coin was repackaged. The Blastoise, however, was printed with the correct copyright date of ©2013, while the original Cosmos Holofoil print listed ©2012.
