Location of Butwal Island in the Orange Islands |
Butwal Island (Japanese: クネンボ島 Kunenbo Island) is an island in the northeastern region of the Orange Islands.
The island is particularly lush and has lots of wild plants that Pokémon love to eat. The island is too small to have an airport or a seaport, so supplies of Pokémon food from Valencia Island are parachuted onto the island weekly by plane.
Ash and his friends visited the island in Pokémon Food Fight!. They met Gulzar, a local Trainer, after accidentally trying to some flowers which were actually a part of Gulzar's headband. Gulzar declared that he was the greatest Grass-type Trainer in the Orange Islands, so Ash challenged him to a battle to prove it. During the match, Snorlax's Poké Ball slipped out of Ash's pocket and broke on a rock. The match ended after Snorlax tried to eat Gulzar's Gloom, and Gulzar fled the scene still feeling upset about the confrontation.
With Snorlax unable to be recalled, Ash and his friends were forced to move the large and sleeping Pokémon through the mountains and later reached the local Pokémon Center to have the Poké Ball fixed.
