Brute Force
Skill
Increases damage for attacks that are not very effective.

Brute Force (Japanese: ちからおし Brute Force) is a skill in Pokémon Shuffle.

Effect

When this skill is activated, not very effective damage (0.5×) is considered neutral damage (1×) for the entire combo. This overrides the standard type effectiveness multiplier.

However, skill level affects only the damage of the first match, where it applies a separate multiplier.

  • If the first match would be neutral or super effective, then it only benefits from its own multiplier.
  • If the first match would be not very effective, then it benefits from both multipliers.

Other damage multipliers, such as those based on match size, combo count, or status conditions, are applied as usual. See Pokémon Shuffle → Damage for more details.

Skill level growth

Increasing skill level will increase the damage dealt by the initial match.

Version history

April 4, 2017 (3DS)
April 5, 2017 (Mobile)
Increases the base damage multiplier of Brute Force:
  • base damage multiplier: 2× → 3×

Introduces a bug whereby the skill "Brute Force" would increase the damage of all types' attacks, rather than only types which are Not Very Effective against the current enemy Pokémon.

1.4.7 (3DS)
1.10.2 (Mobile)
April 7, 2017 Fixes the "Brute Force" glitch by reverting the skill to its state before 1.4.6. This removes the skill's erroneous activation on types other than those Not Very Effective on the enemy, but also reverts the damage boost the skill received in 1.4.6 (meaning it is back to 2×).
  • base damage multiplier: 3× → 2×
