Blurb

On their way to Nimbasa City and Ash’s next Gym Battle challenge, our heroes get caught in a torrential downpour. They duck into a nearby mansion to get out of the bad weather, finding no one inside. Upon further investigation, it turns out the mansion is inhabited by a group of Litwick…as well as Team Rocket!

Jessie, James, and Meowth have turned the mansion into their new secret base! When they discover Ash and his friends inside, they ask the Litwick (through James’s Yamask) to capture Pikachu and chase the “twerps” away.

At first the Litwick try to prevent our heroes from learning about them by draining power from Ash’s Pokédex. But eventually, Ash learns that Litwick are known for pretending to guide people through dark places…while actually leading them into the Ghost World. And their flames can drain the life energy of people and Pokémon!

The Team Rocket trio have fallen prey to the Litwick’s flames as well, and all three of them are completely exhausted. They decide to join forces with our heroes to fight against the Litwick, and after some intense battling on all sides, these dangerous Pokémon are sent back to the Ghost World!

Working together, our heroes and Team Rocket all manage to escape from the frightening mansion. But the spirit of cooperation is short-lived, as Jessie, James, and Meowth let Ash know that stealing Pikachu from him is still their number one goal!

Plot

Ash, Iris, and Cilan are continuing their journey towards Nimbasa City. However, they are suffering because of the intense heat coming down on them. Just as Ash hopes for rain, Iris's nose twitches and tests the wind direction with her finger to confirm that it will rain. Ash laughs at her, not believing it, but suddenly, a streak of lightning frightens the group, followed by a massive downpour. Cilan suggests that they run and find safety. The group locate a giant mansion, and enter after the doors open by themselves. Watching on their surveillance, Team Rocket is angry the twerps have barged in on their latest secret base. However, Jessie sees it as a perfect opportunity to capture Pikachu. Meowth says that he has the perfect plan to do so, pointing to James's Yamask who has befriended a group of Litwick. So James asks Yamask to tell the Litwick to capture Pikachu and scare Ash and the others away, and the Litwick go off.

Meanwhile, the group sits in the middle of the entrance foyer chatting. Iris laughs at Ash for not believing her about the rain, and then Ash remembers the bet he made, so stands on his hands and walks around the room. Iris just stares at Ash, saying that he really didn't have to do that. Cilan remarks he doesn't like the idea of staying here without permission, but they have no other choice. Suddenly, a window flies open. Thinking it is the wind's doing, Cilan hammers the window down, but it just flies open again. Suddenly, a lamp starts floating and heads towards Ash and Iris, however, they dodge it. Out of nowhere, an assortment of items start attacking the group. They run towards the exit, but some furniture blocks it. As the stone bust lays next to Cilan, he starts freaking out and runs away. Ash and Iris follow him to the next room, the dining room with a completely set table.

Meanwhile, the Team Rocket aren't happy because the Litwick are merely scaring the group, not capturing Pikachu. Meowth volunteers to go downstairs and instruct Litwick properly. Meanwhile, the Ghost Pokémon continue their antics, levitating the dining chairs and cutlery around the room. The chairs start wildly flying around the room, before the doors open up throwing Ash and his friends off. As Ash looks up, he spots a hand willing to help him up, only to realize it is a set of possessed clothes. The costumes dance with Iris and the others around the room. Frustrated, Pikachu uses Thunderbolt on the clothes, revealing several Litwick. While three flee, the fourth one trip and is surrounded by Ash and his friends, who immediately demand answers. Ash scans it with his Pokédex, but the device suddenly malfunctions. Cilan notes that the Litwick has some impressive Psychic skills. Ash asks where its Trainer is, but Litwick gives conflicting answers. So the group continue onto the corridors and search.

A Yamask scares the group, stopping them in their tracks. Passing through at the time, Meowth and the other Litwick are surprised to be seen and quickly run off. Ash rounds the very same corner, only to find the corridor completely empty. The group set their sights on finding Team Rocket and uncovering their supposed scheme. Meanwhile, Meowth reports back to his teammates that the twerps spotted him. James notices that both Jessie and Meowth look particularly exhausted, but they dismiss it as being overworked. James also notices that the Litwick’s flames are larger than before, but no one has any explanation for it. As Meowth has Yamask reissue their orders to capture Pikachu, the Litwick happily agree with an evil sneer.

The Litwick go after the group again, targeting them with furniture and falling chandeliers. In the chase, both Axew and the first Litwick have disappeared. Pikachu soon goes missing while the group search the corridors. Similarly, James notices that his Yamask is gone. Jessie and James report to Dr. Zager that they have found the perfect Team Rocket HQ. As they list of the old mansions many amenities, Dr. Zager is alarmed to hear that Litwick reside in the mansion. Dr. Zager tells them to take caution as Litwick take life energy from Pokémon and humans. He states his intention to research the phenomenon, but the laptop suddenly turns off. Jessie pulls out a compact with a mirror and screams when she sees the condition her face is in, with tons of wrinkles. James says they must leave now, but realizes Meowth is gone, with Jessie noting that he was going to check on the Litwick, sending the two into a panic. Meanwhile, Meowth is wandering the mansion to check on the Litwick, questioning why he is so tired. Upon finding a Litwick, he reminds it that he told it to chase away Ash, Cilan, and Iris. The Litwick then turns around and grabs Meowth using Psychic as Meowth screams in horror.

Cilan had noticed the earlier Pokédex error, and asks Ash to look up Litwick on his Pokédex again. The finished entry states that Litwick drains life energy and takes people to the Ghost World. Now the group is really concerned for Pikachu and Axew’s whereabouts and begin to look again, which leads them to the basement. There, they see a passed out Pikachu, Axew, Meowth and Yamask. Then, Jessie and James appear out of nowhere, and along with Meowth, begin to recite their motto, but with little energy. Then, all four Litwick appear again with large flames, with a Lampent behind them. The Ghosts use Inferno, destroying a brick wall and revealing a portal to the Ghost World. Using Inferno and Shadow Ball, the Pokémon are pushed closer to the portal. Lampent uses another Inferno, and suddenly all the walls fall revealing an eerie fog. Determined to escape, Ash sends out his Oshawott and Cilan sends out his Dwebble to fight, but with their Protect attacks, Oshawott's Water Gun and Dwebble's X-Scissor prove ineffective on the Ghost Pokémon. Jessie sends out Woobat to use Air Slash while James commands Yamask to use Shadow Ball, which also fail. The Litwick immobilize Team Rocket’s Pokémon with Psychic before tossing them into their Trainers. Just as Jessie loses her grip, Ash manages to grab her in time. Then, Cilan gets hit by a Shadow Ball and almost falls in, but James saves him. Jessie asks Ash for a temporary truce, and the group agree to it.

Team Rocket and the twerps commands their small army of Pokémon, which are Oshawott, Dwebble, Woobat and Yamask, to defeat the Litwick and their Lampent leader by combining their attacks. Ash's Pikachu finishes the job by sending the Ghosts off with a powerful Electro Ball attack. The Ghost Pokémon are flung into the Ghost World, with the brick wall sealing them inside. The Team Rocket trio soon revert back to their normal, energy-filled selves. Ash and his friends rush outside and look at the torn-up mansion, realizing that the Litwick had created an illusion to make it look better. From the top of the building, Jessie, James and Meowth call off their truce and vow to capture Pikachu next time they meet. They fly off with their jet packs. Cilan suggest that they leave as well. They begin to head off, but it starts to rain again, forcing the group to take shelter in a tree hollow.
