Cervantes (Japanese: クレイブ Crave) is a recurring character in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. He is the president of Exceed, a former member of the Explorers, the son of Gibeon, and Amethio's father.

In animation

History

Pre-series

Cervantes was born to the boss of the Explorers, Gibeon. As a younger man he was inducted into his father's organization and tasked with accomplishing Gibeon's ultimate goal, the locating of the paradise known as Laqua. However, at some point, Cervantes deviated from this path. Gibeon, furious at his son for this betrayal, disowned him and exiled him from the Explorers. Cervantes later became the president of Exceed, a scientific research company being used as a front for the Explorers by Gibeon.

During his time as an employee at Exceed, Friede became friendly with Cervantes. Cervantes also fathered a son of his own, Amethio, who would go on to become a follower of Gibeon in the same way Cervantes himself had.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

In The Treasure of Eternity, after Amethio finished meeting with his grandfather, he mentioned that he wouldn't follow his father's footstep of failing to locate Laqua‎.

In HZ065, when Gibeon expelled Amethio from the Explorers, Gibeon asked if history would repeat itself, indicating that Cervantes had also abandoned his purpose for the Explorers.

In HZ078, Amethio met with Cervantes before leaving. Shortly after, Spinel met with Cervantes, aware that he was Amethio's father.

Character

Despite his relationship with the Explorers, Cervantes appears to be an ethical and fair person, having a long history of friendship with Friede.
