|
Merchandise for the Pokémon Trading Card Game ranges from products containing cards themselves to a multitude of accessories that can personalize a player's or a collector's experience. November 2016 saw the start of the Sun & Moon TCG Series with the release of the seventh generation of core series video games, Pokémon Sun and Moon, and the introduction of material promoting new Pokémon and new mechanics to the game. The following is a chronological list of all TCG-related items made available during the Series.
Alola Collection
The first product of the Sun & Moon TCG Series was the Alola Collection. It received an early release at North American Target stores on November 13, 2016 and was followed by a more general release on November 18. It was released in Europe on November 23, mirroring the release dates of Pokémon Sun and Moon in each region. The Alola Collection came in two varieties, each of which focused on one of the game mascot Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala. The collection also featured the three Alola first partner Pokémon Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio.
The contents of the collections differed depending on their region of release. The North American versions included a collector's pin and sculpted figure of either Solgaleo or Lunala, as well as five booster packs. The European versions did not contain a figure, came with three booster packs instead of five, and included a different pin depicting the Alolan first partner Pokémon. The showcased cards however, remained the same across the regional variants. The Solgaleo Alola Collection included Water Web Holofoil prints of Rowlet and Popplio from the then upcoming Sun & Moon expansion, a Black Star Promo Litten, and a Jumbo Solgaleo-GX. The Lunala Alola Collection included Water Web Holofoil print of Sun & Moon Litten, Black Star Promos Rowlet and Popplio, and a Jumbo Lunala-GX. The Jumbo cards differed from the versions that would eventually feature in the Sun & Moon expansion by lacking their HP, Evolution Stage, and Attack Costs.

Mega Powers Collection
The Mega Powers Collection became available to purchase from May 19, 2017. Its main selling point was the inclusion of four Full Art reprints of XY Series cards first released in the Japanese The Best of XY subset. Instead of making these promotional cards, The Pokémon Company International opted to retain the expansion symbol of the initial print, add an "a" to their initial card number, and label them with a yellow A symbol. This ensured that similar reprints would retain the same legality of their original print in the current Standard format. As such, the M Lucario-EX and M Manectric-EX cards from the collection remained unplayable in the Standard format, as their initial prints rotated at the start of the 2016-17 season. The other featured cards—Jolteon-EX, Zygarde-EX, and Lucario Spirit Link—would remain Standard-legal up to the end of the following season. The collection also included a Jumbo version of M Lucario-EX, a selection of eight booster packs, and a TCGO code card.
Promotional cards:
- M Lucario-EX (Furious Fists 55a; Alternate art)
- M Lucario-EX (Furious Fists 55a; Alternate art; Jumbo)
- Lucario Spirit Link (XY Promo 211)
- M Manectric-EX (Phantom Forces 24a; Alternate art)
- Jolteon-EX (Generations 28a; Alternate art)
- Zygarde-EX (Fates Collide 54a; Alternate art)
