Endure (Japanese: こらえる Endure) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation II.

It is:

Effect

For the rest of the turn, Endure allows the user to survive any attack that would cause it to faint, leaving the user with 1 HP instead. Endure can be used by Pokémon with only 1 HP, and can protect the user from fainting from multiple attacks in one turn.

If it or other protection moves are used consecutively, its success rate decreases. The success rate formula, including which protection moves affect it, exceptions, and glitches, functions identically to that of Protect in all generations.

Generation II

Endure has a priority of +2.

Endure cannot protect against the end-of-turn effects of moves such as Future Sight.

Generations III and IV

Endure now has a priority of +3 and always fails if the user is the last to act in the turn.

If a Pokémon endures a hit when already at 1 HP, effects that require damage to be done to the Pokémon (such as contact Abilities) will not trigger.

Endure can be used as the first move of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing Destiny Bond, Endeavor, Eruption, Flail, Pain Split, and Reversal to score double the normal appeal if used in the next turn.

In Generation IV, if the user is holding a Berry that reduces the attack's damage (such as Occa Berry), then they will be left at half of their previous HP instead of 1, as a result of using this move. This is due to Endure reducing damage taken to the current HP value minus one, and the Berry then halving it.

Generation V onwards

Endure now has a priority of +4.

Effects that require damage to be done to the Pokémon (such as contact Abilities) will now trigger if a Pokémon endures a hit when already at 1 HP.

Endure can be used as a part of a Contest Spectacular combination, causing certain moves (Endeavor, Flail, Pain Split and Reversal) to give an extra three appeal points if any of them is used in the next turn.

If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Endure, all of the user's lowered stats are reset.

Endure can now protect against the end-of-turn effects of Future Sight and Doom Desire.
