Wormadam (Japanese: ミノマダム Minomadam) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves from female Burmy starting at level 20.

It has three different secondary types: Steel, Grass, and Ground, determined by the cloak that Burmy was in when it last battled. In its Plant Cloak, it is Bug/Grass, in its Sandy Cloak, it is Bug/Ground, and in its Trash Cloak it is Bug/Steel. Unlike Burmy, its cloak is permanent.

Biology

Physiology

The coat of leaves/sand/building insulator has now fused with Wormadam's body on a sub-molecular level. Wormadam's eyes have changed from yellow to white. Wormadam's beak is longer and is tipped with either green, brown or pink. Wormadam has a pair of arms that are either made from leaves, chains of brown pebbles or pink ribbons.

Gender differences

Wormadam is female only. For the male counterpart see Mothim.

Special abilities

Behavior

Wormadam appear to swing like a pendulum, with the ball at the top of it's antenna always staying in the exact same spot, even when hit with an attack, as if it was glued to that space. This may be to it's slightly Template:Type2] nature, learning many Psychic-type attacks naturally. However the antenna falls out of place when it faints.

Diet

In the anime

Cheryl has three Wormadam, each representing one of the forms. They appeared in Some Enchanted Sweetening.

A group of Wormadam also appeared in The Rise of Darkrai.

A Sandy Cloak Wormadam belonging to Ursula appeared in Another One Gabites the Dust!.

Trivia

  • Wormadam is unique for the fact that it can be three different types permanently yet shares a Pokédex entry and name.
  • Each of Wormadam's three forms shares a type with another Pokémon: the Plant Cloak is the same type combination as Paras and Parasect, the Sandy Cloak is the same type combination as Nincada, and the Trash Cloak is the same type combination as Forretress and Scizor.
  • Wormadam in her Plant Cloak is the only Grass-type that cannot learn Swords Dance.
  • Wormadam was once the only non-legendary Pokémon with form differences that learns different moves depending on her form. This is no longer true, as the different forms of Rotom all learn at least one different move from the others.
  • Wormadam with a Sandy Cloak is the only form of Wormadam that does not have a 4× weakness.
  • Wormadam with a Plant Cloak is the only form of Wormadam that does not have an immunity.
  • Despite being a Template:Type2 Pokémon, Wormadam could not learn any Bug-type attacks until Platinum.
  • In its Sandy Cloak, Wormadam is the only Bug-type Pokémon capable of learning Fissure.
  • Wormadam and Deoxys are the only Pokémon to have different EV yields depending on their form and are, as such, the only Pokémon with varying EV yields.

Origin

Wormadam is based on an adult female bagworm, which never develops wings.

Name origin

Minomadam (the Japanese name) is a combination of 蓑虫 minomushi, bagworm, and madam, indicating its exclusively female nature. Wormadam (the English name) is a combination of the words bagworm and madam.

In other languages

  • German: Burmadame - From Burmy, whose German name is the same as its English, and madame.
  • French: Cheniselle - From chenille (caterpillar) and demoiselle (damsel).
  • Korean: 도롱마담 Dorongmadam
