- This article is about the EV-raising items introduced in Generation V. For Rainbow and Silver Wings, see Silver and Rainbow Wings. For the item related to Cresselia, see Lunar Wing. For the character in Throwing in the Noctowl, see Wings Alexander.
A wing (Japanese: ハネ feather) is a type of item from the Pokémon games. They are used to boost the stats of a Trainer's Pokémon. Although they are feathers, they are called wings in English-language games, due to character limitations.
Effect
The first six wings can be considered a less powerful version of vitamins. Unlike vitamins, however, they are not subject to the 100 EV cap. Like vitamins, they are consumed after use. Each one gives a Pokémon one effort value (EV) in a particular stat.
There is a seventh wing, the Pretty Wing, which is similar in appearance and can be found in the same locations as the others; however, it serves no purpose other than to be sold.
Acquisition
In Generation V, Wings can be found in Flying Pokémon's shadows on the Driftveil Drawbridge and Marvelous Bridge, or as rewards for earning low ranks in the Battle Institute or clearing areas in Black Tower/White Treehollow.
In Generation VI, they are obtainable from Super Secret Training regimens in Super Training.
In Generation VII, certain Pokémon found in ambush encounters can occasionally drop Wings when defeated.
Some NPCs will give out Health or Swift Wings to players with a Pokémon with sufficiently high Speed or Attack, respectively.
