The Wi-Fi Square (Japanese: Wi-Fiひろば Wi-Fi Square) is an enhancement to the Wi-Fi Club in Pokémon Platinum. It is found downstairs in the Pokémon Center. Players from around the world can enter a "square" to make Poffins and play mini-games together via Nintendo Wi-Fi. The player can walk around the square and communicate with other players in the square. There appear to be different type-based squares, such as the Water Square featuring Template:Type2 Pokémon and the Fire Square featuring Template:Type2 Pokémon.

Rules

Wi-Fi Square

Up to 20 players can enter the Wi-Fi Square at a time. The entire ruling regarding Friend Codes and entering the Wi-Fi Square is still unknown. The player may only spend a certain amount of time at the Wi-Fi Square each day. After this time runs out, the lights dim and fireworks go off, while the player gets transported back by a boat shaped like a Pokémon corresponding to the type of the square.

Mini-Games

Swallowing Swalot

Swallowing Swalot is a game played on a big Swalot-shaped, Poffin-making machine. It is much like the Berry Blender in the Generation III games creating a new way to make poffins. The mini-game utilizes more of the game's 3D capabilities. Players toss little, round berries into the Swalot machine's mouth using the touch screen. It swallows the berries and spits them out later, creating a brand-new Poffin. There is apparently a point scoring system in the game. Up to four players can play.

Merry Mime Jr.

Merry Mime Jr. is another mini-game that uses more of the DS's touch screen capabilities. It shows a Mime Jr. balancing on a circus ball. The player must try and keep Mime Jr. on the ball using the touch screen. The longer Mime Jr. stays on the ball, the more points the player receives. If a player's Mime Jr. stays on the ball the longest, that player wins the game. Up to four players can play.

Rapid Wobbuffet

Rapid Wobbuffet is a mini-game using the touch screen to pump up balloons by a Wobbuffet-shaped pump. Balloons are pumped with the stylus up and down to earn points. Some Pokémon on the top screen will make it harder for the player to pump balloons. Up to four players can play.

Touch Toys

Touch Toys will be available, which appear and are controlled on the touch screen. They are toys that can be bought; they have various effects within the Wi-Fi room and can be upgraded based on the scores of the mini-games. They can also create effects when touched from the touch screen. Some Touch Toys include bells, balloons, cymbals and party poppers.

Trivia

  • The 12 starter Pokémon appear as mascots in several places across the room.
  • Two of the mini-games feature Team Rocket's Pokémon: Wobbuffet and Mime Jr.
  • Most of the featured Pokémon are unavailable in Sinnoh before obtaining the National Pokédex.
  • The Swalot's barbels are much smaller than in the Sugimori artwork. In the machine, its barbels are only up to head level. In the official artwork, they are up to hand level.
