* The name is a reference to [[Cerulean Cave]], due to the cave being in the west, having Mewtwo at the end of the dungeon, and the need of Surf for the {{Player}} to get to the cave.

Western Cave (Japanese: にしの どうくつ Western Cave) is a dungeon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team. It is home to Mewtwo and contains 99 floors. HM Surf is required to enter this dungeon.

The day after Ho-Oh is recruited from Mt. Faraway, Blastoise and Charizard will return from a failed expedition to this dungeon, having been defeated by an unseen Pokémon. Western Cave will then be unlocked for exploration.

Keys and stat-boosting health drinks can be found on the ground. The Beauty Scarf can be found on B59F, and requires a Key to obtain. If player already has one, it will be replaced by Link Cable.

There is a chance of finding Kecleon Shops from B20F onwards. There are no hidden items.
