Trivia

Origin

Weedle resembles a Wiggler.

Name origin

Weedle's name appears to be a misspelling of weevil, but this is not likely, considering the difference between the two. Its name is more likely a combination of worm and needle, which refers to the stingers on its body. Beedle is similar, but refers to bees instead.

In other languages

  • German: Hornliu
  • French: Aspicot - An asticot is a sort of caterpillar, picot means dot (referring to the circles on its body) and pic means point.
  • Korean: 뿔충이 Ppulchungi
  • Chinese (Taiwan): 独角虫 Dú Jîa Hűi ("lonely pointed bug")
  • Chinese (Hong Kong): 獨角蟲 Dú Jîa Chóng ("lonely pointed bug")
