Waterfall (Japanese: たきのぼり Cascade Ascent) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I. It was the first move to gain HM status in a generation after it was introduced, doing so in Generation II.
Effect
In battle
Generation I-III
Waterfall does damage.
Generation IV
Along with damage, Waterfall also has a 10% chance of causing flinching.
Outside of battle
Generation II and on
Allows players to climb waterfalls. Note that in Generations II and III, the HM move Waterfall is not required to go down waterfalls, whereas Generation IV requires the HM.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Waterfall is Squirtle's Special Up move.
