Vice Grip (Japanese: はさむ Clamp), formatted as ViceGrip prior to Pokémon X and Y, is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Vice Grip inflicts damage and has no secondary effect.

Vice Grip can also be used as part of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing Bind and Guillotine to have their base appeal points doubled if used in the next turn.

  • Vice Grip's name refers to the vise, a mechanical tool which firmly holds an object that one is working on; although official English translations normally use American English spelling conventions, the move's name instead uses the Commonwealth English spelling of vice[1].
