Vaporeon (Japanese: シャワーズ Showers) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves from Eevee via Water Stone.

Biology

Physiology

Vaporeon is the result of an Eevee's exposure to the radiation of a Water Stone. Vaporeon is a composite creature sharing physical traits of dogs, cats, and fish. Vaporeon's body is light-blue and has a white collar. Vaporeon has yellow ears made of webbing and has a fin on its head resembling its ears. Vaporeon has a pointed pattern of dark blue on its head that encompasses the backs of its ears and head-fin. It also has blue ridges that run down the length of its spine and on to its tail-fin, and the paw pads on its hind feet are dark blue like the ridges. Vaporeon's molecular structure is close to water, and its body glitters when sunlight hits at certain angles because of it. Because it's molecular structure is so closely resembled to water, it can melt into water with ease, out of view from prey and predators. Many people who first see this Pokémon believe it is a mermaid.

Special abilities

Vaporeon are highly adapted to aquatic life. Unlike its pre-evolution, it has the ability to breathe underwater. As stated previously, they have a unique molecular structure. They have the ability to "melt" into a body of water and disappear completely from view. They can also manipulate water molecules, giving them the ability to learn Template:Type2 attacks their previous evolution could not.

Vaporeon also have the ability to walk on water.

Because it's a fully evolved Pokémon, Vaporeon can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.

Behavior

Vaporeon are very difficult to observe in the wild, as they are somewhat uncommon. When they are in the water, they are virtually impossible to see. While they are much easier to see while they are resting onshore, they possess the ability to rearrange themselves on a molecular level, causing themselves to "melt" into the water. It is likely that many mermaid stories were spawned by Vaporeon sightings, as their tails resemble those of mermaids. When Vaporeon's fins begin to vibrate, it is said to be a sign that rain will come within a few hours.

Habitat

Vaporeon are always found close to water, and prefer large, clean lakes.

Trivia

  • Vaporeon is tied with Umbreon and Leafeon for tallest Eevee evolution.
    • It is also the heaviest Eevee evolution.
    • Both of these facts make it the largest Eeveelution.
  • Vaporeon has the highest HP base stat of the Eeveelutions.
  • Vaporeon is the only Template:Type2 that appears in field section of Pal Park.
  • In Generation I, Vaporeon had a notably different design with all black ears, fins on each leg, and a fin running down the entire length of its back. All of these details were removed in Generation II. Notably, these details weren't present in its original R/G artwork.
  • Despite being described as the "Bubble Jet Pokémon", Vaporeon can not learn Bubble. It can, however, utilize TM11 (BubbleBeam) in Generation I.
  • Vaporeon is the only Eeveelution that does not share any weakness with another.

Origin

It has traits of foxes, cats and a number of aquatic mammals; it also shares charastatics with mermaids.

Name origin

Vaporeon's name is derived from vapor. The -eon suffix, common to all Eevee evolutions, comes from Eevee's prototype English name and possibly refers to the ending suffix of evolution itself. Its Japanese name probably refers to rain showers. The French and German names are based off of the word aqua.
