I was wondering if we should include an option for the first and last sections of the walkthrough, such as the introductory section (where you get your name, gender, starter, etc) and for the eventual final section. I've been tinkering with a design that can incorporate that kind of thing, and I was hoping you could give it a look over, and see if it would be better than the one currently being used. If it's not, I'm fine with that. If it is, I'd be happy to make all the changes to the necessary pages. :That's certainly not a bad idea.  A decent work-around for the first & final sections would be a great help.  I do have one comment, though.  It looks pretty good, but when I tried to put "no" for the previous section, it came up like this:
:I tried leaving <i>prevsection</i> and <i>prevname</i> blank, but that didn't work either.  I don't claim to be the best with wiki-code, so it's possible I just misread it and used it wrong.  If the unneeded side would blank out, like the bar on R/B's first section ↓ ...

::There's a parameter for the previous/next sections in mine already. Just set "prev=no" or "next=no" and you don't have to fill out the "prev/next"-"section/name" parts. I'll try your example.

You just didn't fill my template out the right way, that's all. :P Hope it helps! --<span style="color:#800000">O</span><span style="color:#C8A2C8">z</span> 13:13, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
:::I figured I just misread something.  Now that I looked at it again, it makes perfect sense. ;D  Looks good, I guess if you want to move it to a template page like the other one (Template:WalkthroughPrevNext, maybe call this one Template:WalkthroughPrevNextBookend or something), then we could add it to the project page with the other bar.  Thanks for the help! --K<span style="color:#7038F8"><small>C</small></span> <span style="color:#7038F8">4000</span> 17:34, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
An idea
To help with the upgrade I'd like you to take a look at the alignment of the templates for the rival at Appendix:HeartGold and SoulSilver walkthrough/Section 2, it might have some useful application to deal with some spacing problems with 2 or more templates, especially with the Team Magma/Aqua thing on Ruby and Sapphire but I am not sure. -Tyler53841 18:23, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
:Actually, that looks pretty good.  It's certainly better than stacking the three possible teams (for the rival, at least) on top of each other and dragging the page out.  I like it, if you want to change the Magma/Aqua around so they're spaced out horizontally rather than vertically, please go right ahead.  Anything to keep this project moving.  ;) --K<span style="color:#7038F8"><small>C</small></span> <span style="color:#7038F8">4000</span> 18:36, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
::I thought it was pretty good too when I glanced over it the other week. I'm using it on my userpage, actually, haha. Anyways, should we do that with all of the variable battles, the Magma/Aqua + rivals, or just the ones where it won't get really cluttered? --<span style="color:#800000">O</span><span style="color:#C8A2C8">z</span> (The <span style="color:#01015E">Wizard</span> at Work!) 18:39, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
:::I'd say switch everything over.  I think wherever we could use that would probably be better off going horizontal across the page, rather than stacked on the left side with a huge empty white space on the right side. --K<span style="color:#7038F8"><small>C</small></span> <span style="color:#7038F8">4000</span> 18:43, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
::::I think so and it will render what we have on the template for the NPC player on Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald or Diamond/Pearl/Platinum obsolete. I tried duplicating it on my sandbox but with no luck and I don't have time to do it again (I didn't save it, I only previewed it). -Tyler53841 18:43, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
:::::Righto, so do you want me to handle the instances in the first gen walkthroughs? I could breeze through Gary's ones pretty quicky. --<span style="color:#800000">O</span><span style="color:#C8A2C8">z</span> (The <span style="color:#01015E">Wizard</span> at Work!) 18:45, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
::::::Sure, do Ruby and Sapphire too now that the rivals and Team Magma/Aqua portion of the walkthrough is complete. -Tyler53841 18:46, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
:::::::I'll get right on it, then! :) --<span style="color:#800000">O</span><span style="color:#C8A2C8">z</span> <sup>(The <span style="color:#01015E">Wizard</span> at Work!)</sup> 18:50, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
::::::::Oh cool, I see you guys added that rival alignment to the project page, I was gonna go around and edit the other rivals in the other walkthroughs too.--<span style="color:red">—<small>♥</small></span> <b><span style="color:orange">Jel</span><span style="color:#C4E673">lo</span></b> 01:51, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
I also made a choice when doing the rival for Ruby and Sapphire, me decision was focused on not trying to use two headers for the starters when do Brendan/May. Take a look at part 1 of Ruby and Sapphire and tell me what you think. I'll leave FR/LG to you while I'll handle the reformatting with the other stuff. -Tyler53841 04:32, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
:That's not bad.  Actually, since it currently uses the 6 templates, maybe there's an easy way to condense the info.  Since the only difference between Brendan's team and May's team are their name and sprite (and their Pokémon don't change), it might be easier to do something like this:

:That way, it accounts for both Trainers' names, and rather than have two Trainer sprites, it just shows the "No image" pic.  This should allow us to use only 3, rather than 6 templates.  Nice job updating the other walkthroughs with the new templates, by the way. --K<span style="color:#7038F8"><small>C</small></span> <span style="color:#7038F8">4000</span> 04:57, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
::The key issue right now is that the current template can only use one sprite, so that problem needs to be figured out. At best I did the first two encounters and I wanted to check things out first with other people before I did the other half. I'll wait to see if this problem can be fixed first. -Tyler53841 05:02, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
:::We could always just upload a new sprite on the archives that has both Brendan and May present. Call it, say, "BrendanMay.png" and use that as the image? --<span style="color:#800000">O</span><span style="color:#C8A2C8">z</span> (The <span style="color:#01015E">Wizard</span> at Work!) 05:07, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
::::The other brainstorm I had is use the sprites with the headers, though I don't know how it will pan out. -Tyler53841 05:09, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
::::I was just going to say that, Oz. ;)  Unless somebody uploads a double-sprite with both Brendan and May, I don't know what else we could use. --K<span style="color:#7038F8"><small>C</small></span> <span style="color:#7038F8">4000</span> 05:11, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
:::::To top it off this is Lucas/Dawn and to a lesser extent Gold/Kotone. -Tyler53841 05:13, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
::::::Good point.  Lucas/Dawn for sure, though I don't know about Kotone.  Does she play the same role as May/Dawn, or is she not really around much? --K<span style="color:#7038F8"><small>C</small></span> <span style="color:#7038F8">4000</span> 05:16, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
:::::::Well with Gold and Kotone it is just once for tutorial. For Lucas and Dawn it is for three times. For Brendan and May it is four on R/S and five on Emerald that this procedure has to be done. -Tyler53841 05:20, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
::::::::Okay.  I guess we still need the double-sprites for this to work, even if the player only fights them once. --K<span style="color:#7038F8"><small>C</small></span> <span style="color:#7038F8">4000</span> 05:27, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Technically it is only Brendan and May that actually fights them since the others do tutorials at the beginning of the game aside from the fact that Lucas/Dawn fight on their team. I also posted Gold and Kotone on the HG/SS walkthrough just to note. -Tyler53841 05:32, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, KCorp4000!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

 • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
 • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
 • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
 • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
 • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
 • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
 • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
 • The use of link templates is official policy.
 • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
 • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
 • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
 • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
 • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:KCorp4000/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
 • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
 • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --PsychicRider 22:45, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Please

Slow down on editing the User: namespace. Editing your userpage too much will lead to it being locked again. Instead of making multiple small edits, why not instead use the preview button (Alt + Shift + P) to check your edits before saving the page? Thank you. --PsychicRider 22:14, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry!

Its fine. Oh, and sign your comments with this: ~~~~. --PsychicRider 23:03, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Talk Page Comments

Please don't erase talk page comments for no reason. Trust me, you do NOT want to end up like Big Johnno, who got into an edit war with a sysop over comments the former had erased and was trying to keep erased. That user ended up blocked and subsequently had every erased comment restored. -- |>|-|1|23 57R1K3 16:26, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I wasn't thinking. Won't happen again, I swear! --KCorp4000 00:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Gold and Silver walkthroughs

The walkthroughs are great, but make sure that when you create the pages, change the Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver link to HeartGold and SoulSilver to avoid a redirect. Thanks! --rockersk08 16:27, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Small constructive Criticism

Thanks for the help on the Ruby and Sapphire, since I know I can't tackle it alone and having different people is useful. However what I need to do point out is that I didn't like how you just took out the Mauville City stuff, and not moved it to the next part which I had to do. If you need to do some rewrites just move it someplace else and then work on it later instead of deleting other peoples work since it wastes time trying to rewrite this stuff. If you need to cut down material then why not copy and paste on Microsoft Word and do the main work there?

F.Y.I. the picture you used for Route 109 is wrong as it comes from Emerald and there are a few visual changes in that game. Check out my comment on that talk page to learn more.

Also my original plan was to do each Gym per part unless if it were too large then I would break it in half like the Lavaridge Gym, and the FireRed and LeafGreen walkthroughs, they just need some improvements to complete since it all the areas are covered just needs some editing done and it wouldn't be cool to merely just delete them since it creates a hassle. -Tyler53841 17:40, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I never meant to throw a wrench in your plans. I bumped the bit on Mauville to the next page because I thought it would fit better, I just thought having Slateport-through-Mauville on the same page was getting a little long, since they're both decent-sized cities. I'll be happy to move Mauville back a page if you haven't already. I didn't realize that the Route 109 image was Emerald only, it even says in the description on File:Route 109.png, "Map of Route 109, from RSE...". I'm happy to help, but maybe I'll just hang back a little for now... --KCorp4000 18:48, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Either way works with me since I want to break the next gym stuff into two parts so what works with you will work with me and just so you know that Image file for 109 so to versions in it's history that can confirm the visual changes as well as Serebii's PokeEarth pictures of this route can confirm this and my post in that talk page helps you know what to look for.
But anyway just for the heads up I will have to put in a few more friendly strategies relating to the remaining gyms since I found some difficulties for these gym leaders from the last time I played these gyms though they're going to be brief. I'll let you know more about later as I progress through the games but at least it helped me find out good details that helped out with the progress and just remember to research if you have the time to avoid any factual errors. Currently I just got my 3rd badge and once my team leveling is complete I'll get right to work on the next part so watch for it then. -Tyler53841 19:09, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Also I can point out is that you can probably handle with supporting the material I put in since I usually try to be as accurate and I don't plan to stop until I get to the end of my Sapphire copy. -Tyler53841 21:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Pretty

But removing the __NOEDITSECTION__ might be a good idea. This removes the edit links for each section, which are really helpful on talk pages. —darklordtrom 07:36, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I took it out, but I still can't see those edit links. Am I missing something? --KCorp4000 07:48, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Never mind, I guess it just didn't show up on the preview. --KCorp4000 07:49, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, edit links don't show on the preview for the reason that you can't edit a preview ;) —darklordtrom 09:19, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Makes sense, now that I stopped to think about it. :) --KCorp4000 17:35, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Want to see something

I have been formulating plans to make improvements for the wild Pokémon section for the walkthroughs, and I have been working on adding level details with one minor new addition to the templates. I also have been thinking of adding a decoration of one sprite for that wild Pokémon per page or per section as well. Also compared to your Gold and Silver walkthrough I have been dealing with encounter rates on Platinum by posting the higher ratio as the common encounter rate and the lower ratios as the lower encounter rates (not counting caves or buildings). So I need to see what you think on this, since at best my idea for posting the levels is the one I stand behind the most, followed by the sprites. -Tyler53841 17:36, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

It's probably a good idea to have the wild Pokémon sprites in each section. Judging from Platinum/Section 2 (Route 202), it looks like you have a decent system going for the encounter charts. You may want to consider different column titles though, like "best time to look for" and "also available", etc, since "common" and "alternate" may be a little confusing at first. Other than that, I don't have any objections. Go for it. :) --KCorp4000 03:00, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
Best I can come up with is "Best time to find" and "Other Encounter rates" since I am trying to keep the titles simple and at a 4-5 word maximum. But anyway if you get a chance to, keep an eye on a new user that joined this project: Daniel2850, because he is making some potential mistakes on editing with the Platinum pages, namely the image sizes at the moment, but look at the type of idea he did for caves that have different floor such as on Part 3 which you should see. -Tyler53841 05:05, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
That's fine, I just gave those as examples. I knew that he had been making a lot of edits recently, but I wasn't really aware of what he changed. I'll check what he's been up to, and rework the images sizes if necessary. For Platinum/Section 3's encounter chart for Oreburgh Gate, I still think we're better off using this for the rates, since it gives the relevant information while not taking up too much space. --KCorp4000 23:25, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
Right and if it works there for the caverns with the different floors, then it can be used with Ruby and Sapphire's walkthrough (Like Mt. Pyre and Granite Cave) as well as on FireRed and LeafGreen. Speaking of FireRed and LeafGreen it still needs some work done but after Ruby and Sapphire's walkthrough is done I will do it since I already have a plan drawn up. Also check out part 3 of Ruby and Sapphire and take a look how I plan to deal with the fishing-related details. But anyway that's all for now, if something important comes up I'll let you know since I may need a second opinion. -Tyler53841 04:59, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Alright

I'll need you to get on AIM as soon as you can to discuss the walkthrough styles... we'll be updating them soon. TTEchidna 23:09, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Speaking of the styles you should see the structure on the Walkthrough page, since I am working to help with things to make sure that important quality is maintained. -Tyler53841 07:55, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Structure section of Project Walkthrough

Since that section is not fully completed yet I was thinking of combining some of the best ideas the two of us had come up with. If you are interested I'll give you the summary of my latest plan for that, but in the end run it will probably turn into a miniaturized version of the template that is used on the route pages something that is not as large or wide but is still perfect for the walkthroughs. -Tyler53841 18:36, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Sure, let's see what you've got. I'll see what I can add to it. --KCorp4000 04:01, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Well if you look at the Pokémon section it has the Pokémon, Spirte, area, level and catch rate. I am thinking of using your idea on what your doing with the fishing-related Pokémon to help deal with what rod is being used for both area and level details and still list fishing in the area section, just the parenthesis will not be used since it would only fatten up the template which is easier to avoid it. I was also of doing the same involving parenthesis all around to avoid the unnecessary spacing.

Another flaw in the Pokémon templates that needs to be addressed is how to deal with a Pokémon like Voltorb which I created a solution for now on New Mauville by creating brackets on it for both the encounter rate and fake item bit seen right here on Sextion 8.

So in short term it would help with completing the structure into something reputable as I finish Ruby and Sapphire and I am willing to use some of the stuff you developed with mine and I liked the way you finished with the Generation I games. If you need something to do the FireRed and LeafGreen stuff needs some of the updates to the standards of the other completed walkthroughs. I would suggest if you wish to break those games walkthrough pages into further articles then you should complete the other work first so it would be easier for a copy and paste which is what I thought up a while back.-Tyler53841 05:42, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I think that using the hover-text is probably the most efficient way to present the encounter rates when using the fishing rods (at least for now). It's probably best to avoid using parentheses as much as possible, since that only expands the different templates.
When dealing with Pokémon (like the legendaries) that don't attack the player but instead need the player to interact with them, the encounter "rate" doesn't really apply. Instead of listing the percentage, I think it's probably best to give the actual amount of that species. For example, see Yellow's section on the Kanto Power Plant - the player can actually interact with Voltorb, Electrode, and Zapdos, so I think it's easiest to say "Only #" for the encounter rate.
I am currently working to update the Red & Blue walkthrough a little, since I had missed adding bits and pieces that I had decided to put in Yellow and Gold & Silver. If you'd like to incorporate anything that I've come up with in the Ruby & Sapphire guide, please feel free. I'd like to start working on Crystal eventually, but TTEchidna has plans on how to do that, so I can't start just yet - that leaves me free to move on to Generation III. --KCorp4000 00:31, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Check out my latest work on Part 10 for Lilycove City, I had to put a lot of work on it, but anyway the reason for this message is that I am planning something big for the Safari Zone and Mt. Pyre. For the Pokémon list I will use the areas section to post the locations and use your idea of hover text to deal with situations where the spelling would be too large, and what do you think of it. If you want to work on Generation III when you're done with R/B, then you can handle FR/LG since it only requires minor upgrades. As for me I'll finish Ruby and Sapphire first and also check out Force Fire's new design for the Preview/Next key on part 10 which is actually a color-mixer. Though there are some flaws I can't talk to him till he gets back. Also check out my improvement on the structure at the projects main page, at least more of the flaws have been dealt with. -Tyler53841 03:11, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Something to help you out

Check out my latest walkthrough stuff on the Hoenn Safari Zone and Mt. Pyre and see the new improvement I made for the Pokémon sprites on the wild Pokémon list. Anyway here is the Mt. Pyre stuff; Part 11. -Tyler53841 03:49, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Looks good. Thanks for catching that sprite stuff for the RB Power Plant, by the way. --KCorp4000 22:03, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

New ideas

I've been working on new ideas to improve the walkthroughs and after seeing the header you used for the wild Pokémon in your sandbox, I think that if it were perfected it might help condense the size of the template. Course one thing I like about the current template it at least avoids making any unnecessary space, but if it were further condensed when minimized it would help save even more space.

Also for Ruby and Sapphire, it is almost done and I've already planned out what the remaining sections will use. -Tyler53841 18:44, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I think we should definitely keep the collapsible function, since otherwise they end up taking way too much room. I've been working with a few ideas in my sandbox, using the same data but trying to present it more like the actual route/gym/etc pages do. So you only have Sootopolis, Pacifidlog, and Ever Grande left? That's great, definitely a big help. I think you and I have added the most to this project. I haven't yet, but I plan to upgrade some of the old data (like I said, I've been playing in my sandbox =] ), and run through the FireRed/LeafGreen guide shortly. It seems complete, but it could always be a little better. After that, I guess I'll move on to Diamond & Pearl. --KC 4000 18:59, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
The current part will go all the way to the final gym battle. Part 14 is going all the way to Route 133/Route 134 (bothe routes will be done together. Part 15 is up to the Elite Four and Part 16 will be the post-Elite Four stuff. Also for FR/LG, the problems I'm aware of is most aren't categorized as well as the obvious lack of templates. Also once I am done I am going to be updating the older designs on the previous R/S pages. If you get the chance look at the latest on the Safari Zone and Shoal Cave, especially for the Safari Zone, which I asked Darktrom the original creator of the Area number picture to make one for Ruby and Sapphire for the walkthrough. Shoal Cave is good because I figured out a way to reduce the number of pictures. If there are anymore plans in hand to improve quality I'll be happy to help. Also for Diamond and Pearl use the design Force Fire made for the rival Brendan/May, since it would help reduce space for Lucas/Dawn. One thing I like to note about the current wild Pokémon list that one good thing is that the Pokémon doesn't need to be listed twice which also reduces the amount of space needed. -Tyler53841 19:13, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Good to know we'll have another guide done before long. No official orders, but I had talked with TTEchidna about updating the walkthroughs. What he said that he'd like to see happen:
 • "ROUNDYCORNER TABLES to hold some of the stuff" (most tables used still have the sharp corners)
 • "Fixing up some of the Trainer listings, keeping them standard with the route articles. Route/location/gym/whatever, really." (I've used some Trainer data to form a collapsible list, using the same info from the route articles)

Well I guess I'll add that stuff when I work on the next walkthrough, though I wish there was a way to silence out the the initials of the games that aren't used in that walkthrough like the Y for Pokémon Yellow in the Red and Blue walkthrough, maybe if you ask him. A more pressing matter is that when I did Route 125 thanks to my collecting official details on the Route I did notice two things that if you used Serebii.net's PokéEarth there are two things inaccurate. I'll be happy to tell you if you want. Also make sure to update the guideline on the project page when you get the chance. -Tyler53841 19:52, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

There's no real rush to switch everything, that's just the end result we're aiming for. I know, you'd think it would be easier to remove the code for the game(s) that you're not working with. Oh well, I guess I'll ask the next chance I get. Anyway, so what was PokéEarth missing? --KC 4000 19:58, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Swablu was mistaken for Altaria and on Route 125, and one of the male triathelte picture that was thought to male on Route 127 is actually female. Both of which are the mistakes I mentioned. Anyway I'll continue where I am at and wait until the decision is final, since that is what kept me from updating the older pages. -Tyler53841 20:15, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay. I'll let you know when we can start updating the older stuff. --KC 4000 20:18, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

I was thinking that if the wild Pokémon lists have to be similar to the route pages then at least the games section should be used for two games and left out of games like Yellow and Crystal where it would have little use. If wish talk to TTEchidna about this, since anything that is unrelated to those games' should not be used for the new templates. -Tyler53841 06:48, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Regarding this...

Cheers! --Oz 15:40, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

That's certainly not a bad idea. A decent work-around for the first & final sections would be a great help. I do have one comment, though. It looks pretty good, but when I tried to put "no" for the previous section, it came up like this:
I tried leaving prevsection and prevname blank, but that didn't work either. I don't claim to be the best with wiki-code, so it's possible I just misread it and used it wrong. If the unneeded side would blank out, like the bar on R/B's first section ↓ ...
Red & Blue Walkthrough
Route 1 to Route 2 Part 2 →
...then we'd be in business. ;) --KC 4000 03:41, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
There's a parameter for the previous/next sections in mine already. Just set "prev=no" or "next=no" and you don't have to fill out the "prev/next"-"section/name" parts. I'll try your example.

You just didn't fill my template out the right way, that's all. :P Hope it helps! --Oz 13:13, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

I figured I just misread something. --KC 4000 17:34, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Actually, that looks pretty good. It's certainly better than stacking the three possible teams (for the rival, at least) on top of each other and dragging the page out. I like it, if you want to change the Magma/Aqua around so they're spaced out horizontally rather than vertically, please go right ahead. Anything to keep this project moving.  ;) --KC 4000 18:36, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
I thought it was pretty good too when I glanced over it the other week. I'm using it on my userpage, actually, haha. Anyways, should we do that with all of the variable battles, the Magma/Aqua + rivals, or just the ones where it won't get really cluttered? --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 18:39, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
I'd say switch everything over. I think wherever we could use that would probably be better off going horizontal across the page, rather than stacked on the left side with a huge empty white space on the right side. --KC 4000 18:43, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
I think so and it will render what we have on the template for the NPC player on Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald or Diamond/Pearl/Platinum obsolete. I tried duplicating it on my sandbox but with no luck and I don't have time to do it again (I didn't save it, I only previewed it). -Tyler53841 18:43, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Righto, so do you want me to handle the instances in the first gen walkthroughs? I could breeze through Gary's ones pretty quicky. --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 18:45, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Sure, do Ruby and Sapphire too now that the rivals and Team Magma/Aqua portion of the walkthrough is complete. -Tyler53841 18:46, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
I'll get right on it, then! :) --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 18:50, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Oh cool, I see you guys added that rival alignment to the project page, I was gonna go around and edit the other rivals in the other walkthroughs too.-- Jello 01:51, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

That's not bad. Actually, since it currently uses the 6 templates, maybe there's an easy way to condense the info. Since the only difference between Brendan's team and May's team are their name and sprite (and their Pokémon don't change), it might be easier to do something like this:

That way, it accounts for both Trainers' names, and rather than have two Trainer sprites, it just shows the "No image" pic. This should allow us to use only 3, rather than 6 templates. Nice job updating the other walkthroughs with the new templates, by the way. --KC 4000 04:57, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
The key issue right now is that the current template can only use one sprite, so that problem needs to be figured out. At best I did the first two encounters and I wanted to check things out first with other people before I did the other half. I'll wait to see if this problem can be fixed first. -Tyler53841 05:02, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
We could always just upload a new sprite on the archives that has both Brendan and May present. Call it, say, "BrendanMay.png" and use that as the image? --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 05:07, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
The other brainstorm I had is use the sprites with the headers, though I don't know how it will pan out. -Tyler53841 05:09, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
I was just going to say that, Oz. ;) Unless somebody uploads a double-sprite with both Brendan and May, I don't know what else we could use. --KC 4000 05:11, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
To top it off this is Lucas/Dawn and to a lesser extent Gold/Kotone. -Tyler53841 05:13, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Good point. Lucas/Dawn for sure, though I don't know about Kotone. Does she play the same role as May/Dawn, or is she not really around much? --KC 4000 05:16, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Well with Gold and Kotone it is just once for tutorial. For Lucas and Dawn it is for three times. For Brendan and May it is four on R/S and five on Emerald that this procedure has to be done. -Tyler53841 05:20, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay. I guess we still need the double-sprites for this to work, even if the player only fights them once. --KC 4000 05:27, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
