::Secondly, just personally, it doesn't feel great that you practically stole all the work I already did on the page in my userspace. If you can't contact someone, and/or if you want to significantly ''alter'' their approach, it might be reasonable to start your own copy. But updating for the new generation is about the most straightforward thing imaginable, it probably would've been okay if you had just asked (or even just made the appropriate edits). (And if you had asked, I also could have let you know that the format was dispreferred. Perhaps we could have kept the page up to date still, but it would also have kept you from the mistake of mainspacing it, at least.) Understand also that, usually, if something is being proposed for the mainspace, it's usually okay to edit it. (If not, you'll hear about it =P , and then you can go from there.) :::Thanks for your feedback! I'll concede I've recently been more active on github than on wikis, which I guess may have led to me being used to 'fork' someone else's efforts into my own namespace, rather than editing their original in place. It was definitely not my intention to take undue credit for your existing work -- hence I'd explicitly noted I was just merging together these two existing articles in my edit summary upon creation. In my mind efforts by others had gone inactive for quite a bit, given there had been no replies on the topic over the last few years, hence I'd figured I might as well just contribute a bit myself. On approach, I don't mind if you'd rather change it. I mostly felt just getting something just a step more comprehensive out there in the main space might increase exposure to what you'd started on and hopefully invite further improvements, while otherwise people might not have noticed as easily. My apologies if it came across differently. I hope I'll be able to prevent similar misunderstandings going forward. - [[User:Tycho|Tycho]] ([[User talk:Tycho|talk]]) 19:22, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Tycho!

Here are a few links to help you get started:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format of all pages on Bulbapedia.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with Bulbapedia.

On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~), or by using the "Your signature with a timestamp" (button_sig.png) button at the top of the edit window.

The Userspace Policy says that you should keep userspace edits (edits to User:Tycho) to a minimum, and outlines a few other guidelines for your userspace. Keep in mind, you will not be able to create your userpage until you have made constructive edits to the mainspace first.

For a complete list of policies and editing advice, please see the Welcome Portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

List of Pokémon with unreleased Hidden Abilities

Hi. I talked about the page with some other administrators, and we decided that we don't really want that page as List of Pokémon with released Hidden Abilities makes it unnecessary. I don't know if you saw it, but I replied to your post on the forums saying the same thing. If you would like to keep the page in your userspace (so under a name like User:Tycho/List of Pokémon with unreleased Hidden Abilities), that's fine. Since you posted the code on the forums i don't think this will be necessary, but I can give you the code if you would like to make the page in your userspace. --SnorlaxMonster 05:23, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Oh and another thing; when you are making templates for userspace use only, they should be made in your userspace as well (so "User:Tycho/lop2/ability"). We do want to remove the Japanese names from the template anyway, but nobody has wanted to do the removing of the Japanese names from the page. --SnorlaxMonster 05:46, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks, didn't know templates could be in the user space, guess I learned something again. I'd done a Phantasy Star wiki before, but things weren't quite as big there. On changing the lop/ability to remove the Japanese names, I'm thinking that might break the table for the list of released Hidden Abilities, as that article reused the column for obtainment methods. But yeah, I guess for the abilities list without the Japanese you'd want the same thing then. I fixed the template now, so you can reuse that code if you want. - Tycho 07:13, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
The problem isn't editing the template (I can do that easily), it's removing all the Japanese names from List of Pokémon by Ability. --SnorlaxMonster 07:15, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Ah, didn't know that was the issue. I made a new template (feel free to change) to remove the Japanese names from the ability list now; I did it by mass-replacing the bars with tabs, pasting it into Excel to delete the undesired column, copied it back to a text-editor and replaced the tabs with bars again. If you have any similar problems, I'd be glad to help out (the same method could easily be used to add columns/parameters). Thanks again for being friendly. :D - Tycho 07:37, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Just one minor issue: It removed the zero padding from the Pokédex numbers. Since this would be an easy fix if you still have the Excel document, I'll let you do it. --SnorlaxMonster 07:46, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Whoops, fixed! - Tycho 07:55, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
There we go, templates all moved and replaced in the articles. Thanks for your help. --SnorlaxMonster 08:13, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Copy/paste moves

Please don't copy the content of pages rather than using the move function. This results in the loss of the page's history. --SnorlaxMonster 11:30, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Sorry, noted. If you'd see a way to retro-actively fix this, that'd be great. - Tycho (talk) 16:13, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Ah, I see the note at the article page now. If you'd be able to help me move it to the mainspace, I'd appreciate it. :) - Tycho (talk) 16:25, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
  • I've attempted a move now, hopefully in such a way as to address your concerns. If not, please let me know! - Tycho (talk) 13:15, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
I have to inform you of a couple things. Firstly, the format of the page I created was specifically passed over previously for want of a better format. Therefore, it's not okay for you to put it in the mainspace.
Secondly, just personally, it doesn't feel great that you practically stole all the work I already did on the page in my userspace. If you can't contact someone, and/or if you want to significantly alter their approach, it might be reasonable to start your own copy. But updating for the new generation is about the most straightforward thing imaginable, it probably would've been okay if you had just asked (or even just made the appropriate edits). Understand also that, usually, if something is being proposed for the mainspace, it's usually okay to edit it. (If not, you'll hear about it =P , and then you can go from there.)
