User:TTEchidna/Trades Okay, well, that discussion's over with, clean slate time!

As always, contact me or any other administrators over AIM or something if there's a problem. Talk page notes don't appear to me until I log on here, which is about ten seconds before I hop on RC myself.

And don't forget, I'm still looking for an Ash, Dawn, and Brock voice for those YouTube English previews. TTEchidna

User:Livinlarge18

I'll be blunt and to the point. I'm sick of his crap. Every freaking time he makes an edit, he doesn't use link templates. Never. He has been warned exactly six times to do so. He doesn't categorize articles he creates. Never. He has been warned exactly thirteen times to do so. His information is more than occasionally inaccurate, and he seems to enjoy editing things just for the sake of editing them. Oh, and he has responded exactly zero times to requests that he adhere to the Manual of Style. Something needs done. --ニョロトノ666 01:50, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

If he does it again, I'll give him a month and a half off. TTEchidna 01:55, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
You are the all-purpose admin of pure awesomeness. --ニョロトノ666 02:05, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I know. TTEchidna 02:05, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Sproies?

Hey:P You left a comment about my Grammar and I have tried to improve it. But what is Sproies? You said Sproies and i dont know what it means.

That's how you spelled something. Pay more attention to the keys you hit before you save the page. TTEchidna 03:09, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh sorry. My Keyboard broke and its been typing random things. I dropped a heavy book on it :p User:David aipom

Thanks...

I guess I could use those... But I have NO IDEA what moves Silver's Pokémon know. So that would be kinda useless there... Since all I could use is this "--" for the movespace. Template:Team Though in actuality I could predict what moves the first battle's moves are since Cyndaquil only knows Tackle and Leer at Level 5. Though this would only be for the first battle and none else. (Though if I traded a Ditto I could tell all the moves.) Anyway, it'd look like this:

Template:Team I need to get a life...

Yes. That works there, so put that listing. TTEchidna 04:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Usertag

I'm nice to people (not like you aren't either but...) so I try to do stuff for people. I'm not sure why but I chose you to give this to, if you don't want it then nevermind. I know that you have the Teddiursa version but if you also want this one... The reason I made this one is the caption (in my opinion is hilarious) matches the picture very well. I find it funny especially when you look at the expanded image.

Pikachu and Pichu in Super Smash Brothers Melee.jpg I swear I didn't know she was level 2.

Anyway this is what it looks like enlarged.

Pikachu and Pichu in Super Smash Brothers Melee.jpg I swear I didn't know she was level 2.

I don't think it could be but if the Teddiursa Usertag is copyrighted please tell me. Rpp 02:45, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Rpp

Just to spread a little humor... Rpp 02:45, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Rpp
I dunno. The Teddiursa one is based on Pedobear. TTEchidna 04:22, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

User:Rpp

Please tell this person that you can't predict levels in the anime. He or she keeps bugging me saying that Dai's Empoleon is level 41 or something because it learned Drill Peck. As most of us know, game mechanics are not the same as what happens in the anime. They're not listening to me so I thought they would listen to someone higher in power.

Also, he or she was implying I was a bitch. --ケンジガール 07:10, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

That guy's a straight up suneva bith...From the gyms you can tell that levels don't exist in the anime. OptimatumTalk|Links2 May 2008
Roll my eyes. Why the hell do these kids think that "lol what gamefaqs sez goes". That's where this stupidity "PIKACHYU IZ LEVEL 198349084 AND LOST TO ROARK ANIME IS DUMM" comes from. HERE'S how the anime works. EVERYTHING is level 100. It's just trained differently. Shō's Raichu had high offensive abilities, so Shō used them accordingly. Ash wasn't ready for it which is why he and Pikachu lost. TTEchidna 17:17, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
2 Things: 1, I was basing that anime DOES, (might have been a dub error or something but who cares?!) because in ep. 009 (the School of Hard Knocks) some boy says that Pidgey evolves at level 18 into Pidgeotto. (and) 2, NOBODY can take a joke. I don't have true intent to call anyone a bitch. Unless it's used for humor or puns, etc. Well... Actually 3 things: I hate gamefaqs. (So why would I listen to them? Though previously you didn't know that I hated it so nevermind.) Also, I'm a guy (Kenji-Girl said He or She). Rpp 02:34, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Rpp
TTE, your 'Everything is 100' way of explaining is wrong. Why do Pokémon evolve, then? OptimatumTalk|Links02:42 3 May 2008
Obviously, the example did it's job then. It's not supposed to make sense. Just like Pikachu learning Volt Tackle-- it's not possible, but it happens anyway.RWMVG1DC 01:53, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
bulbapedia is to wikipedia, what the games are to the anime. = they have pokemon, and thats where the similarities end. (loose explanation) ie: the anime can do anything it wants. -- MAGNEDETH 02:48, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Look, I only called you "he or she" because I didn't know what your gender was okay. I was being ambiguous, I wasn't trying to insult you. --ケンジガール 03:55, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Kenji-Girl, you didn't insult me. I was just telling you that I was male.
So is my involvement over here? TTEchidna 20:17, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, I'm trying to "make-up" with Kenji-Girl so... Probably. (Even though I'm the one at issue...) Rpp 01:05, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Rpp

Signature policy page

So, is the signature policy completely official as of now? I assume yes, but I'm double checking to be sure. I'd like to write up an official policy page for it, and I just want to make sure I've got permission/authority to do so. (aiming for a simple list of the policy's rules, and some explanation/tips for newer, less savvy users.) -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 20:13, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

It's official, and has been since you started the job. If you wanna write the page, go for it. TTEchidna 01:15, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
I'll get to work on it later. I figure a few tips on making a nice signature that doesn't break the policies might be nice, as well as a plain and simple explanation on how to actually sign your comments (and why you should). I'll try not to go overboard, too. =P -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 03:34, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

SPeaking of signatures, I managed to get your old sig back:TTEchidna

Bulbapedia:Signature policy is finished. It's not added to the policy page yet, as I'm not sure where or if it should be added in there... I'll leave that to you. Oh, and of course, you might want to look over the policy page to make sure it's all good. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 18:00, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

UT Template

I think I did wrong with it. It puts Category:Link templates on the page it gets put on. It did on my talk page, at least. Porygon-Z 03:45, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Fixed it. The category tag was outside the noinclude tags in the template, so it was being added to pages along with the rest of the template. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:02, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Voices

Yo. Talk to me on AIM ASAP. Porygon-Z 19:00, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Can't. Busy working on an animation project in the Loop. Scanning takes a half hour so I'm goofing off on Bulba temporarily. TTEchidna 19:48, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok well, either way we have a video response. It's not from the one who commented yesterday though, theirs is coming in a few days. Porygon-Z 19:49, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
I see. TTEchidna 00:08, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I didn't know where else to put this. But anyway, I'm interested in lending my voice for the project you guys are working on (episode previews for D/P: Battle Dimension). I can't do an impression of Dawn or anything, however. So I was thinking, a female-announcer type voice, perhaps? Also, the good news is that I have experience with my voice being recorded, since I've been on the Bulbacast a lot. I was a frequent call-in guest in the regular Bulbacast, and I was also a main speaker for the Bulbacast: English Edition. If you're interested in having me audition for this part, just let me know. ^_^ --PokemonTrainerLisa 09:01, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Put it on the tubes, send it over. Z and I shall see. TTEchidna 09:07, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Ah, okay. Thanks! I'll try to record an audition soon for you guys! ^^ --PokemonTrainerLisa 12:54, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

What's Libarian Spanish? CoolPikachu!

Iberian. As in, Spain's Spanish. The Iberian Peninsula. As opposed to Latin America, where they use Latin American Spanish. TTEchidna 00:17, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
ohh sorry since I speak spanish from Latin America so.. CoolPikachu!
It's like British English vs American English. The countries, of course, are the United Kingdom vs Canada/United States. It's not United Kingdomian English. It's British.
And it could be called Castillian Spanish, but there's a sub-language called Castillian, which is... kinda like an in between for Spanish and Latin. TTEchidna 00:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
I knew that part since I studied Spain last year CoolPikachu!
Wikipedia. TTEchidna 00:32, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
What about Wikipedia? CoolPikachu!
It's everything. TTEchidna 00:35, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
ok? CoolPikachu!

So, why did I protect User:TTechidna until 2015?

Anyone have any ideas?

Anyone?

Will Bulbapedia still be around in 2015? Will Pokémon still exist? Heck, where will I be? Will I have kids? Will I be anywhere meaningful?

...will I still be playing Pokémon?

And if so...

...how many will there BE?! TTEchidna 09:12, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

They'll probably try to hit 1000.
As for you protecting Ttechidna until 2015...I have no idea. Glinn Mgraw 09:26, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

i dont care what people say, just because it was way off target, BTTF2 was still good. i saw the date, and i had a hunch, so i googled it to confirm it. do i get a prize?!? -- MAGNEDETH 03:26, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
I dunno. Magneton named Flux? TTEchidna 03:35, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
no, im good....but thats a really good nickname for a Magneton.... -- MAGNEDETH 03:42, 6 May 2008
Yep. Or a Porygon-Z... it's Y-shaped. TTEchidna 03:43, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
yes indeed. if only i didnt already have nicknames for both of those two... -- MAGNEDETH 04:15, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah me too. Fielder and V/R Psycho. TTEchidna 04:19, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
a Magneton named Fielder? you probably dont even use it. and is there any REAL particular reason for blocking untill that date? or, just for fun? -- MAGNEDETH 04:22, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Magnezone. I use it when I do my level 100 battles. And the reason? Because I linked to it and don't want some jackass making it saying "LOL HAY I'M TTE". TTEchidna 04:28, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Actually, protecting it means you'll have a jackass saying "LOL HAY I'M TTE AND HAY Y CANT I EDIT MY USERPAGE??!!!!!11"
...But if anyone does take the account, you can instantly ban them and just say "the name's taken, try again". -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:45, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Well since the ban's in place anyway there's no reason. I was just protecting it for the sake of protection from someone who isn't the user making the page. TTEchidna 06:10, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

ATTENTION: ALL GOOD BATTLERS

  • For all good battlers, i have an announcement:
  • i have been chosen for recruiting for a new "secret site"
  • if you are interested, post on my talk page, or post after this, and i will get to you
  • you will be selected after you are tested. You will be assigned a tester when i get to you
  • thanks Patriotfan09 21:17, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
A tester? Is it to be type-specific? TTEchidna 23:49, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
New Announcement:
Um. Okay. Too bad, I was looking to test myself. TTEchidna 18:43, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
wwell, i might be able to find you one, if you join the site ahead of time..? Cus the site is for battling, and i could find you a tester, ok? Patriotfan09 21:02, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

To do list:

  • Articles for the Water 1, Fairy, Indeterminate, and Humanshape egg groups so I can edit the {{egg}}, {{egg2}}, and {{egg3}} templates to link to the articles instead of the categories.
  • Make sure all card articles use the {{ct}} template instead of the {{TCG}} template when linking to Energy types.
  • Make all TCG set articles adhere to the standard.
  • Make all Pokémon articles adhere to the standard (hoo boy, 493 of 'em?)...
  • And more. Later. TTEchidna

Because this time it got recorded in the monthly edit list. TTEchidna 06:53, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Then you should have said that it was permanently recorded. Because, if you beat Bulbabot PERMANENTLY, it's either:
  1. Bulbabot is non-functioning.
  2. You're gonna keep editing more than BB
  3. You're just exaggerating. Posted by the Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links06:57 11 May 2008
  1. Well it is still functioning but...
  2. That one's true.
  3. And maybe this too. TTEchidna 06:59, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
  1. I thought so.

Question

Hey I have a question, obviously. How do you insert pictures into articles? Thanks ahead of time,--Arceusguy 16:46, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Well first the image has to be on Bulbagarden Archives, because hotlinked images are bad. Then it's just like other articles. Look at their coding. TTEchidna 01:52, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Basically, [[Image:imagename.jpg]] is the coding for a link. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 04:44, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

On the same track, how do you get the moving sprites from the games to the site? Videos? Theininen 20:18, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

No freaking idea. They're on Filb's server, and we share all the crap we've got with them and they with us, so... yeah. Plus Zhen helped extract them. TTEchidna 01:03, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
I'll ask him then, thanks. Just curious at this point. Theininen 03:06, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Who, Filb or Zhen? Zhen might not respond on his page... try the forums. TTEchidna 03:07, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I asked Zhen & so far haven't gotten a response, and I don't have a forums account (yet), so I'll just keep waiting to see if Zhen will respond, and from some other discussions, it seems like you need to get to the programming, so... Theininen 13:47, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Then why is he posing as Optimatum and making stupid comments, that's what the other one did. And it's not Phearever it's Ph34r4ever. Sailor Earth 19:23, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

I know for a fact that that is not the same user who vandalized bulbapedia, the name is similar, and although it says Phearever, it is just another name for his account....C is for Cookie 19:26, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry. I feel like a right prat now. I read that story earlier, some bulbapedia shootout and when I saw the user name on that edit and the nonsense it was talking I thougt it was the vandal. Once again I'm very sorry. Sailor Earth 19:33, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Dont Worry. I thought the same thing when I saw that......C is for Cookie 19:35, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Always make sure you look at the edits, not just the name. Believe me, vandals take good users' names all the time, so I don't think Optimus's taking of Ph34r's name is much different. TTEchidna 02:29, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Quick favor

Could you edit Bulbapedia:About and change the entry for the 9000th article so it reads Politoed666 instead of User:Politoed666? It just looks funny, and the template is used on the rest of the page. Thanks. --ニョロトノ666 19:38, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Done. TTEchidna 02:25, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Please protect the article so people won't go making it before the episode airs. Thank you. --ケンジガール 20:21, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Done. Was gonna as soon as I saw the episode. TTEchidna 02:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Your opinion?

Could you throw in your two cents regarding the discussion on Talk:Version mascot? Apparently, I'm the only one so far who thinks sprite discrimination at this point in the game is ridiculous. --ニョロトノ666 03:03, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

...sprite discrimination. Well, so far we know that it'll be in its Origin Forme when encountered in-battle, so that's what it should be, much like the others are in their respective games. TTEchidna 03:13, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

So... uh...

How come you're doing all the E's on Forme again? I thought we were supposed to keep them off, unless they were there when Pokémon Co. and such translate them into English. At least, that's how this discussion seemed to end. I'm not on the forums, so it's possible I've missed something... --Martonimos((Talk)) 06:30, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

No, there wasn't anything on the forum.
And heck, the added e's look stupid. Glinn Mgraw 07:15, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, let's let TTE explain why he's doing it... --Martonimos((Talk)) 08:13, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Since they removed the e's from Origin and Another, it seems that they get that all e's doesn't make Olde Englishe. On Forme they're fine... unless it's Deoxyse's Defence Forme. TTEchidna 08:37, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
The "old english" Forme is exclusive to Giratina, correct? This doesn't apply to any other instances of Form out there? (such as Deoxys, and any other Forms there might be out there.) -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 09:26, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
I think so. As far as I know, it's not Sky Forme and Land Forme (or Skye and Lande formes, either), and it's definitely not on Deoxys's forms. And they removed it from Origine, although I don't think they ever had it on Another. --Martonimos((Talk)) 09:55, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Exactly. Deoxys is Defense Form. Not Defence Forme or Defense Forme. The fake Olde Englishe is exclusive to Giratina... and maybe Arceuse... TTEchidna 10:06, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
It would be excuseable to say Defence, you know... Glinn Mgraw 10:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Shh. It's Defense because that's what the stats are named. TTEchidna 11:20, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh boy. You may want to check Deoxys on the official American Pokedex: http://www.pokemon.com/Pokedex/flash.asp --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 01:39, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Okay, Forme for everything then! TTEchidna 01:44, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Does this mean it's "Land Forme" and "Sky Forme?" As I recall, the Bulbanews report only mentioned "form" for everything, including Origin and Another. --Martonimos((Talk)) 02:06, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Well has Shaymin/Regigiggity-gigas's Sland/Sky Formes debuted yet? If not don't worry too much, but when referring to them as the form name always always name it as X Forme. Defense Forme, Origin Forme... so on. Yes. Forme.
And that means we're gonna have to start naming them as Sandy Cloak/Trash Cloak/Plant Cloak Burmy/Wormadam, and West Sea/East Sea Shellos/Gastrodon... TTEchidna 02:11, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

i recall you recently creating color templates for all the games. while i think a majority of them are a bit strong, im not here to say that. what i AM here to say is that most routes have poke listings and do not use the updated templates. see: Route 101. you wan this done, yes? -- MAGNEDETH 03:19, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Of course. TTEchidna 03:25, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
well, i beat the game, so, ill put it on my list. i should be on more often now. on the point of colors though, why didnt you keep the same colors as before? example being that Emerald was "8f8" and the new one is much darker in color. it puts more emphasis the color, and less on what its representing. -- MAGNEDETH 03:57, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Eh, I was redoing them all, so I figured I'd redo them all... TTEchidna 04:12, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Route 202

Since I'm doing my own Sinnoh-type walkthrough on my website, I've decided to help Bulbapedia where it's lacking (Particularly the early routes). Now, on my website, I will put the trainer's dialogue in with their small "profile". Aside from continuing the contribution to Bulbapedia with the trainers info such as how much money or experience the trainer and their Pokémon will give, would it be acceptable if somehow I fashioned a way to put dialogue in their own summary in the routes (next to them not randomly on the route page)? I'm just wondering and if it's not wanted I'll go about my business like usual. I talk to much... Anyway this is just asking since that would be more thorough... Rpp 17:07, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Rpp

Well... try and set up a way of doing this and show me. We could make it a template. TTEchidna 23:25, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Is it okay if I don't do so for a while though? I'm kinda busy (despite what it sounds like). Plus I gotta think of the 'set-up'. I could get it done in a few days to a week. It's a matter of how much spare time I have to do so. (I spent some spare time doing Route 202 anyway...) Rpp 01:58, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Rpp

"Deoxys's four forms retconned"

When you say they were retconned, do you mean an "e" was added to "form"? Deoxys911 21:03, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

He didn't say that, I did. And yes. I said as much in that paragraph. I recentl found out that "retcon" means "retroactive continuity," so it may not be the most appropriate term, but I still think it fits. --Martonimos((Talk)) 22:01, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, the names were retconned, at the very least. You know how it is, you gotta grab people's attention. TTEchidna 23:24, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Hokay. Deoxys911 just informed me on my talk page that apparently Deoxys's forms have always been Formes. Quote: "Deoxys's forms have always used the French "Forme" rather than "Form". At least, in things directly from Nintendo." Is he right, and I'm just incredibly out of the loop again? --Martonimos((Talk)) 23:37, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
UPDATE: He provided this news report as an example. The text does say "forme" as well as "form" a few times. It could have been updated just like the Pokédex, though, so I've asked if he can provide a scan of a print source that would prove it. He said that Prima has been using the "Forme" spelling all along, too, so mabe it's in an Emerald strategy guide or something. Can anyone else confirm or deny this? --Martonimos((Talk)) 04:26, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Well then why the heck haven't we been using "Forme" this whole time? Hasn't anyone pointed this out? And WHY THE HECK NOT?
Either way, FabuVinny just found the Forme thing on the Pokémon.com dex, and so we're using it now. And now we must use the official names for each Pokémon's forms: West Sea Shellos, Trash Cloak Wormadam, Speed Forme Deoxys. All that stuff. TTEchidna 07:42, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Lucas

I was playing my game and noticed that Lucas is supposed to be 4'7". But my character Toshiro (named after the Bleach character) is 4'8". Do you think that this natural or something? It's a new game though. If you still have Diamond, would you check your height? Rpp 02:12, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Rpp

Why would I not still have Diamond? I still have Yellow. Anyway, Lucas does seem to be 4'8" in my game as well, and weighs 83.8 lbs. Dawn by comparison is 4'6" and 75.0 lbs., which both of my friends can verify. TTEchidna 03:32, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Need to talk about something

First of all thank you for helping me with the move relearner info awhile back and just so you know I knew about it beforehand which I learned through testing after learning the specifics with Pokemon such as Dustox and Bellossom to confirm it and I don't care if my exact wording is modified since sometimes it takes more than one person to do the job.

But on to the main subject. With the introduction of Jessie's Yanmega in the anime while it was the first pokemon since Ash's Caterpie to evolve in the same episode it was caught, but there is also the matter of James' second Victrebell that also evolved in the same episode he acquired it (unlike his first Victreebell, which evolved offscreen) but the difference is that it was traded and not caught so do you think there should be some mention regarding this since I don't want to edit that page to avoid making trouble unintentionally? -Tyler53841 23:42, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

James's second Weepinbell only evolved in less than one episode if Dawn's Aipom evolved in five. Since we don't know how long that thing was actually a Weepinbell, we can't really say much. TTEchidna 01:05, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
I was thinking more along the lines of what it was when it first appeared in the series instead of any other forms, because is not related to it's first appearance, kind of like the miraculous evolution of May's Bulbasaur into Venusaur, because in that way there is no mention of Ivysaur because it was not part of the plot. -Tyler53841 02:33, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Sure, it wasn't part of the plot, but James's first Weepinbell didn't do anything either. We didn't even see it until it evolved. Doesn't mean that either of them took the same amount of time as Caterpie and Yanma. TTEchidna 02:35, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Chinese Turtwig

I can roughly translate the Taiwan name of Turtwig. Does Bulbapedia need the Chinese name? Or would it be helpful if I gave the translation? Rpp 00:57, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Rpp

If you want to, go ahead. It'll best contribute to the name origin section... TTEchidna 01:04, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Uh!!!

"slaps head" I know you had to correct some of my unintentional mistakes and though I carefully tried to plan to avoid these issues earlier but after reflecting on it I seemed to realize that in terms of Pokémon breeding there are special breeding cases which all have one thing in common, they all use an item which affects their move compatibility. The most common breeding tends to use only set of Egg move for that Pokémon species, special breeding uses two set different sets of Egg Moves for two Pokémon of that species, though there are there are a few moves that belong to both and some as stated I stated before that belong to only one. Just like Evolutions Stones, using Incenses also has it's side effects because of the way it affects the ability to learn moves and the only noteworthy thing on this is how the ability for learning moves through breeding have changed through these special methods and my original intent was "same species but different move breeding standards" with the incenses. I also note that while using a Light Ball with Pikachu and Raichu to teach Pichu Volt Tackle is similar to special breeding, but it only teaches a new move in this case and not give access to a more Egg moves.

I also put a lot of work into putting this detailed game mechanic analysis together so you can try to understand where I am coming from on this even if want to delete these mechanics from the other pages completely. Also if you want I can tell you of another breeding trick I know of that is completely unrelated to this subject and is not posted yet which you might find intriguing. -Tyler53841 05:13, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, so? They have different egg moves, it's like expecting to get Outrage on a Blastoise when you breed it with a Dragonite. If something's not in the egg move list, it's not in the egg move list. Doesn't matter what it is.
Mentioning it in a short sentence is better than going on for three paragraphs about it when it's as simple as that. Just say "All babies made with incense have different egg move lists than their evolved forms except for Wynaut which, like Wobbly, which has none anyway." That's really all you need to do. TTEchidna 05:34, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Fine, I get the message but sometimes when I get completely serious like this I have a bad habit to make sure that I don't miss a thing because I like to look at things from the larger picture when I work hard to keep all the facts together when I write messages to other people other website talkpages at TV.com and Wikipedia. -Tyler53841 05:59, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Ew, Wikipedia. Just don't overblow things, though, all right? TTEchidna 06:01, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
I usually exercise control when there are page standards to comply, but anyway I am done with Game Mechanic details for now, though I do know how to control on how a Pokémon can receive a particular nature and special ability when it's egg is picked up at daycare, I can't because Serebii.net has this information and I would prefer to avoid unintentional copyright issues. On a personal note I quit Wikipedia as a registered user because of it's growing corruption. -Tyler53841 06:58, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Standards! Anyway, we already know about the Everstone on the female business, it's on the natures page and I do believe the breeding page, too. As for TOW... ew ew ew. Continually. It was nice until it became a bunch of bureaucratic asshats at the top that thought their shit didn't stink and screamed at college professors who told their students to post bullshit on Wiki that it was a federal offense. Pff. The government doesn't give a shit. Anyway, Bulba's never gonna be like that because we know about 'Kipedia's mistakes, we took measures to prevent that... like the link templates. Love 'em. Plus, we're not even at 10,000 articles yet... but with Gen V coming in the next few years... I'd expect that by 2011 it'll be over 15,000 articles. TTEchidna 07:14, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
You have the nice benefit of "target audience" with Pokémon, too... Wikipedia is for everyone', so it stands to reason that since not everyone's necessarily nice, you'll have to deal with some of those people on the wiki. Bulbapedia, on the other hand... when's the last time you remember someone getting pissed off about Pokémon? I mean like, seriously pissed off. It's just so much harder to get angry over a game filled with Pichus and Pachirisus and Bunearys.
Of course, big corporations like Wikia tend to add stress to just about any subject, but that's not a problem here, happily.
...am I even on topic here? -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 12:50, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Created something!

Userpages, you can not edit or create any userpages at this time. This is because Bulbapedia has such a weak server, and to decrease the load on the server, userpages have been blocked from editing. You may wish to edit or create userpages. Well you can help. The server is weak (as said earlier) and needs to be upgraded. Unfortunately Bulbagarden lacks the funding to upgrade it. Currently, the website needs $1000.00 to upgrade it. The website already has $578.22. $421.78 is needed to upgrade the website. You may donate money to help with the funding. This is the best place to donate money for the website. Bulbapedia is a community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. And it needs the community to exist. This is one important way of helping Bulbapedia (even more than editing). A message from PM102

Userpages
You may notice, TTEchidna, that you cannot edit or create any userpages. This is because Bulbapedia's server, despite its immense power, is strained from all of the activity on it. So as to decrease the load on the server, userpages have been blocked from editing. This is a temporary measure, of course, and certainly not the best of all solutions. What Bulbagarden really needs is a new, more powerful server, as our current one is already as upgraded as it can be. Unfortunately Bulbagarden lacks the funding to make this purchase. Currently, we need $1000 for this new server... and we have already gathered $578.22. $421.78 is what more is needed. You yourself may donate money to help Bulbagarden here. If enough money is gathered, an upgrade to the server will be available and userpages will be able to be edited once more. Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia, needs the community itself to exist. This is one important way of helping Bulbapedia (even more than editing). This would extremely enhance this website's quality and connection.
About your userpage...

Welcome to Bulbapedia, TTEchidna!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. You will have to register separately for it, as well. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:TTEchidna/Archive May-Jun 08/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here!PM102 04:59, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

I have a question

I want to made an article about a site and a forum. Did I need to create 2 articles? (06:45, 24 May 2008 (UTC))

What site, what forum? If they're your site and your forum, we aren't an ad agency. If it's not enough stuff for two articles, no need to make two, either. TTEchidna 06:47, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
It's not enough stuff for two articles I think and it isnt my site. (MathijsP 06:50, 24 May 2008 (UTC))
Okay, one article, then, make sure you categorize, link, and don't make it crappy. TTEchidna 06:53, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

question

why can't i edit my user page, Pikastorm, User:Pikastorm/New Pokemon, User:Pikastorm/Pokemon Attacks (Kanji) anymore? it says they are protected / (view source):

  • You do not have permission to do that, for the following reason:
  • You do not have permission to edit pages in the User namespace.
  • You can view and copy the source of this page:

Bulbanews, "Forme"

It's not actually a retcon - Pokemon Ranger called Deoxys' forms "Forme". It's even in the official Nintendo Player's Guide.KrytenKoro 07:03, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

As I later realized. But hey, no one cared before so now they went back to check their guidebooks and do! TTEchidna 07:04, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Now wait just a second. I played through the special mission with Deoxys in Ranger myself when Deoxys911 brought this to our attention, and they used "form" throughout. I understand that "Forme" was used most of the time, but not in Ranger. ...at least, not in my Ranger. --Martonimos((Talk)) 07:47, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
*shrug* No idea, man. TTEchidna 08:08, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Why would they say "Deoxys can be 1 out of 4 formes"? It's more 'correct' to say Deoxys can be in 1 out of 4 forms. It's the Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links08:35 26 May 2008
At the very least, it's in the official guide.KrytenKoro 00:33, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
For all intents and purposes, we'll use "form" when not referring to a specific Pokémon's multiple forms, but Forme when referring to Deoxys Attack, Defense, Speed, and Normal and Giratina Origin and Another. Burmy and Wormadam are Plant, Sandy, and Trash Cloak, Shellos and Gastrodon are West Sea and East Sea. TTEchidna 00:43, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Cough. How many admins? Remember, Monday nights I'm never here this quarter. Do we need to make an admin availability list like on BN? TTEchidna 02:53, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Might I suggest an Admin Noticeboard? Lots of wikis use those for stuff like this. All the admins keep an eye on the page, and any user can leave a message ("so-and-so is vandalizing!", etc.). At the moment, TTE's page is the Admin Noticeboard basically, since everyone posts everything here, while the other admins watch the page. But a real Noticeboard would work much better (and save TTE some clutter). -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:56, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, but it'd still be a pain in the ass. TTEchidna 03:17, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
The pain would be spread nicely across everyone's asses though, instead of all on yours. (pardon the rather disturbing metaphor there.) -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:51, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Eh, it'd still be a pain to maintain. Why not combine the idea, make an admin availability page, while its talk page is the noticeboard. TTEchidna 07:18, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

But who? TTEchidna 07:42, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I don't know, perhaps in the next few months someone will just pop out of nowhere. Glinn Mgraw 08:08, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
(EC) So long as you can convince people to use the page rather then your own talk page, then it doesn't matter where you put the "noticeboard". We got a Admin Noticeboard on GuildWiki not too long ago, becuase it was getting tough for users to figure out who to ask for help. The hardest part then was getting people to use it, since most users didn't know it was in place. (it might also by mildly important that all the admins know it's there too.)
We've also got a "Request Assistance" page, that sees a lot of use. Basically, anyone can post questions there, be they wiki questions (such as when you can remove a Stub tag) to game questions (in our case, "where do I unlock Livia?", in Bulbapedia's case, "where do I go to train Attack EVs?"). Something like that might be useful, we're already a big resource for Pokémon gamers, I'd like to think. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 07:44, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, I suppose that'd work best. I'll see about setting up a page like that tomorrow evening. TTEchidna 07:50, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Only problem with that is that it doesn't really fix the problem of having no admins on for a few hours. Sure, you can request assistance, but if no admin's there to see it, what good will it do? As a concept, it's fine, but it doesn't address that problem. Glinn Mgraw 08:08, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
A lot of warnings can be given out by regular users as well, so a simple place to post stuff like that might make it easier for others to pitch in. Maybe even make it simple to find more admins. Who knows. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 18:01, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Warnings, yes, but we have no power to enforce them. NONE of the admins were on (or if they were, they weren't paying attention at all), so Optimus and Kenji just kept reverting as many edits as they could until he finally logged off. --Martonimos((Talk)) 06:30, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Removing Stub Notices

Is it justified under any circumstances for a user with basic rights? Such as Moldy orange? If it is, sorry to bother you, but I thought I heard read somewhere that it's not... --ニョロトノ666 02:11, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, if it is not, I am sorry. I was just looking over some pages and the abilities I removed the notice from seemed to have just as much, if not more, information as some non-stub abilities. I actually wasn't going to do anymore anyway, and I left a lot, most of which only had one sentence in the introductory paragraph; I just thought that the articles' information was sufficient. Once again, I am sorry. MoldyOrange 02:16, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I don't even know whether or not it's okay. I don't really have any authority, except that I've been here since July 2007, which is a fairly long time, and I'm just going on a hunch here. In any case, it's nothing against you personally. --ニョロトノ666 02:19, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Anyone can remove the stub notice, as long as it's not a stub. I don't ever remove them, personally, since I'm never sure when to. TTEchidna 02:54, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

What sprites where? TTEchidna 01:25, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
I was talking to Shiningpikablu252 earlier about Ash's Squirtle's sprite on Ash's page. I was saying how his glasses were wrong. He told me to ask PachirisuLover12 to make new alternative sprites. But I decided to take care of it since I did have lots of experience with sprites. So I made alternative sprites for Ash's Squirtle, Sceptile, Butterfree, Primeape, Isis's Bibarel, Jessie's Dustox, and Taisei's_Piplup.--Taviource 01:30, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Because even if Pikachu's never been said in the anime to be specifically male at all, the fact that Dawn hasn't forced it, unlike everything else that cheers for her, into a cheerleading outfit...

Also because some wouldn't believe Pikachu is male even if the anime comes out and says outright "PIKACHU IS A DUDE." TTEchidna 10:14, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Still Experiencing Problems

I've done what you said but it still won't show up at the bottom! It shows up under the line, "This article is a stub." What have I been doing wrong? BlueJirachi 12:28, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

...that's where it's supposed to be. Under the stub. Categories are the very last thing on any and all pages, and the categorization itself ought to go under everything else just for consistency's sake, even though you technically can put a category at the top of the page and it'll do it the same way. TTEchidna 12:33, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Oops...My bad. Miracle Sea's the first page that I ever worked on and I'm not used to creating a new page on a topic from scratch yet. -_- It's my first time. BlueJirachi 12:36, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Really no need to protect an archive, unless you're repeatedly running into problems with other people editing them. You'll probably want to retain the ability to edit your own archives anyway, you know?
Oh, but I did add a nifty bit of coding to your archive... __NOEDITSECTION__ is a bit of code that's built-in to MediaWiki, and when you add it to a page, it disables section editing. (that's the little [edit] buttons next to each section.) You can still edit the entire page, but it makes it impossible for a user to edit just a section, so it's a nice deterrent to anyone trying to revive a conversation on the wrong page. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 12:31, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
