Talk pages for Robot Chicken skit guides: Pokémon Bloopers Pikachu Secret

The goal of Encyclopaediae Pokémonis is to be just as international as Pokémon itself, and helping aspiring Pokémon wikis in languages we don't yet have is a great way to help achieve that goal. However, if we don't even know who the possible aspirers for Encyclopaediae Pokémonis's ninth language even are, there's no way any growth can take place. If you speak or understand a language that's currently not represented in Encyclopaediae Pokémonis and happen to find a wiki in that language with aspirations to join Encyclopaediae Pokémonis, then don't hesitate to drop me a line. Remember, an aspirier can't grow if they remain sheltered from the world!

If you understand Brazilian Portuguese, or know someone who does, then the Portuguese arm of Encyclopaediae Pokémonis is in desperate need of your assistance. Many, if not all, of that wiki's articles are in dire need of improvement, be it massive cleanup or even adding some real content to begin with. Their sysops are never around to handle things, and their interwiki bot has done nothing since late September--of 2008. The fact that a trusted member of Encyclopaediae Pokémonis has fallen into such disrepair is disturbing, to say the least. Brazilians do not deserve quality this low. If you can help improve the Portuguese end, then I highly recommend you do so. Today.

Fan Fiction

I don't know what you mean by adding the wikilinks, I was just doing what I had seen other people do on their own pages. Besides, I know it's not proper, but I like it to be titled "Pokemon Unlimited" even with the wrong "e". I haven't really done much on it all and I just made the entire thing out of boredom during Christmas time. Again, are you saying I added links of my stuff onto actual pages? I don't remember doing such a thing because I know my stuff isn't real. Conanfan1412 05:17, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

The issue was that you put in a main namespace link for your fanfiction. Now, if you wanted to make something about the fanfic itself, the page would be best off as User:Conanfan1412/Pokemon Unlimited, not just "Pokemon Unlimited". Fanfiction is unacceptable in the main namespace, and all fanfiction articles in the main namespace are quickly deleted. I had to remove the links because those links caused your fanfic to jump to number 7 on the wanted pages in the last update. I hope you understand. --Shiningpikablu252 15:11, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

untemplate & such

Do you think you can finish Lime's template stuff, fix her sig, and fix the tags on her userpage? thanks!! MoldyOrange 00:29, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Just to note, it's one of the userboxes that's messing up Lime's page; I haven't narrowed down which one it is, but it's not the first one at least. (if you edit and remove all but one userbox, then show preview, the page unbreaks. Just need to remove the boxes one-by-one and show preview until you figure out which one's breaking it.)
I took care of Lime's signature while I was at it, by the way, so no need to do that one. I'll let Lime know to fix her current signature as well, if she hasn't already. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 08:12, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
The faulty tag has been taken care of. --Shiningpikablu252 18:24, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

?!?!?!?!

I really don't think you should be doing that. Many of those articles are not prone to vandalism. Also, many of those articles are edited and need to be edited every day, like if a new episode is revealed and that Pokémon appears in it. It's like you're blocking nearly every user from editing the Pokémon Species. If you're doing that, you might as well do all 493 of them. Plus, this website has users that can undo them if they were vandalized. I suspect that this will lead to a downfall of the articlesPokeManiac102 19:49, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Check the logs again. As you'll see, the protection is listed as "[move=sysop]". Editing isn't being affected. In fact, this will give the fourth-generation Pokémon consistency with those from past generations in that regard. --Shiningpikablu252 19:55, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Wait, what are you doing???PokeManiac102 19:58, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Protecting the pages from being moved. This whole wave of protection was sparked by a move-vandalism incident on Phione. That incident would not have happened had the fourth-generation Pokémon pages already been protected from being moved like the ones from the first three generations. Better late than never. --Shiningpikablu252 20:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

You did it all, congratulationsPokeManiac102 20:23, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
That's not actually all, folks. Of course, I'd better take a break before doing the same with the fourth-generation moves and abilities. --Shiningpikablu252 20:26, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Out of curiosity,

Who was the user that basically invented the Signature Template thing that brought our website to a decline?Pokemaniac102 02:35, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

There were some signature templates before then, but I'd place the blame for the current problem on Shiny Noctowl. Before he showed up, Bulbapedia's server problems were caused by very different conditions. When the new server came, it should have been smooth sailing from there on out before Shiny Noctowl started a trend of having people try to turn Bulbapedia into stuff it shouldn't be. --Shiningpikablu252 02:38, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I never really liked Shiny Noctowl. Anyway, YES! I shortened my signature enough to have less than 255 characters. You may delete my Sig page and talk page as wellPokemaniac102 02:49, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Yay! you deleted it! It is such an honor to have it deleted by you... When I said that, TTEchidna said, "Pf" and "... I'm lazy"Pokemaniac102 02:59, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
A side note, SP252-sama. I invented the 'UEP'. Thanks for ridding my pages, by the way. Now Tina and I are trying to bring the 'project' to a close. OptimatumTalk|Links14:21 3 May 2008
I saw someone else use a signature template, and that's why I used it. The UEP was started by Ph34r4ever (then Optimus35), not me. --Shiny Noctowl 13:36, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Temporary Ban

Please may you temporarily block my account? So.. until the 10th June 2008? I'm entering the exam period and I am finding it hard to revise, because when I sit down to revise, I always see something that needs attention on Bulbapedia. I'm addicted to editing... XD So I would like to be banned temporarily, until my last exam is over (Astronomy on the ninth) so I can do well in my GCSE's. So I'm asking, is it possble to be temprarily banned? Thank you. Template:ElementalTypes

The template should be updated to how it is now, not how it was in retrospect. What you're suggesting is vandalism. Furthermore, Ghost and Poison belong in Special & Dark belongs in Physical. Please repair the template to the way it is supposed to be. --*Ɣℯⲛօӎօṫհ* 21:11, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Retrospect is the only reason for even keeping the columns. If I were to make the edits you suggested, then there'd be three types in the wrong columns. Your request is denied. I'm protecting the template. --Shiningpikablu252 21:20, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
If you're going to make threats you may as well carry them out. I have half a mind to report you for that. --*Ɣℯⲛօӎօṫհ* 21:44, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Who would you report me to? I'm the most convenient sysop! --Shiningpikablu252 21:57, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
The way it was before is technically how it should stay just for the sake of organization. Plus, there are several non-special moves of the supposed still "special" types. It doesn't matter the majority status, it matters the prior status. Plus, look at the DP typelisting; they're broken up EXACTLY THE SAME. TTEchidna 00:54, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
if i may interject, i like it how it is. i know the new gen can be either or, but, as yall know, pre-Gen 4 was just that, split. it helps for those of us still playing the Gen 3 games. -- MAGNEDETH 00:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I agree that the templates are useful, being mostly a Gen 2 player myself, but I think it should be noted in the template that "physical" and "special" are move-specific as of Gen 4. Thevictor390 17:03, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Out of use signature template?!?!

What is this?! My signature was deleted because of some out of use template thingy?! Could someone please explain what the heck is going on here??? Missingno. Master 22:07, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

It's because of the new signature policy. Signature templates are forbidden under the policy. All occurences of your signature template had been subst-ed until it was included in no pages, then your signature template was deleted. I suggest reading the new signature policy, then creating a new signature that conforms to it. --Shiningpikablu252 22:11, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh, OK. Why make a new policy, though? And why no images? "Glitch Pokémon. Official Pokémon. There is no real difference between the two. In my opinion, the two should be considered equal!"- quoted by Missingno. Master. 22:20, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

The policy was made due to the increasing amounts of distracting signatures and the increase of strain on the server caused by updates of signature templates. You're far from the only person affected by this. --Shiningpikablu252 22:23, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

He showed no signs of stopping the flood of rumored names. We don't need skeleton articles at names that exist only in rumor, and since he knowingly ignored my warning, I had no choice but to hit hard. Besides, this probably sets me even with those who consider my one-month block on Enterthedragon for inserting offensive information to be too soft. --Shiningpikablu252 01:10, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

May's Beautifly

I see you protected May's Eevee and Munchlax pages, due to the fact that previews (and serebii) stated they have evolved. However, serebii has also stated that May now has her Beautifly back on her team (probably from episode descriptions or something, I dunno). I was wondering, wouldn't it make sense to protect Beautifly's page as well, before people try to edit it to reflect it's back with may? ^^; Myzou 01:36, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

There's no point in protecting every single article just because people may do it. That's just unnecessary. Jmath 11:05, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Nando's Krickitune

What else do you expect it to have evolved from? Tentomon? - Cassius335 12:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Keep in mind, Nando may have caught it in the Kricketune stage and not as a Kricketot. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, as was the case for Gary's Blastoise and the starter trio of the Legend of Thunder main characters, we can't assume an anime character's Pokémon has been in a previous stage of evolution while with the character, no matter how likely it may be. --Shiningpikablu252 14:09, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Hmm?

We're going to need data for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2 inserted into the side game sections on all the Pokémon pages, and you seem like just the man for the job! I would, but I have neither the resources nor the time right now. --ニョロトノ666 23:46, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Lacking the resources on this end, too. --Shiningpikablu252 01:41, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Another Possible Job :D

I don't know if this would have any real merit (except on a matter of principle), but would you be interested in going through some of the User List and blocking users with crude usernames, such as Big dikdikdik? I guess it's not really necessary, but it just seems like something that should be done... --ニョロトノ666 18:32, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

May Protection

Yd u protect May? Cassius just oesn't know what initial means an keeps reverting this:

When May initially reappears as a guest character, she appeared in five episodes, compared to the two episodes Misty appeared in for her guest appearance during the Hoenn saga. However, Misty also appeared in four Pokémon Sunday/Chronicles specials, an option not available to May. Though Misty traveled with Ash from The Scheme Team to A Real Cleffa Hanger, they are different arcs, thus don't count towards initial reappearance episodes.

What's wrong with that? He keeps saying that I say they don't count because I don't ant them to. Could you please let the page be vulnerable again?--KukiTalk 18:46, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry. As far as I'm concerned, Cassius335's edit is how it should be. If you'd even bothered to read that version, you would have clearly seen that he DOESN'T consider Misty's Battle Frontier appearance as initial, which is what you were claiming.
Additionally, even if I were to agree with you, I wouldn't be lifting the protection. We've had problems with a number of gun-jumpers recently trying to add information not 100% confirmed to pages, and given that May's Squirtle is supposedly to appear evolved in the next Japanese episode, odds are that the page probably might have ended up protected anyway for that reason. --Shiningpikablu252 18:50, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

So ur saying if May appears in lets say DP163 for another few episodes, those are included in the count with DP076-DP080 of her INITIAL guest appearances? That's what Cassius is trin 2 say about AG044-045 and AG132-134!--KukiTalk 18:56, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

That's not what either me or Cassius335 are saying. If we were to count initial guest appearance only, the correct action would be to cut out all of the other crap, both Misty's second arc appearance and the Chronicles appearances, NOT say that the other crap "doesn't count". --Shiningpikablu252 18:59, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Burmy, Shellos etc. - Forms

I'm still confused as to why the TCG card pages for Burmy, Shellos, Wormadam and Gastrodon only use their forenames and don't include their forms. Shellos East Sea and Shellos West Sea, for example, are different Pokémon - they need to be classified as such. That's how they're named on the cards and how POP classifies them. I know there's an issue there with Mothim, but it's simple: split Burmy (TCG) into three sections, allow Wormadam to link to the respective section, and Mothim to the whole page. Your thoughts? Hi there, can you sort this out for us? Check the page history to see what it is. I don't think that there should be any mention of a Psychic-type Rotom until (IF) it happens. Rotom is far from the only one that has multiple types listed even though only one type has actually been used. For example, even though Tentacruel has only shown up as Water, there's always the possibility it could one day show up as Grass to reflect its Poison-typing. Dual-types (with the possible exception of the Flying-type) should always take both of their types into account, even if no cards of one of them have been printed. --Shiningpikablu252 19:13, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Okay, then, I'll concede that (albeit very reluctantly). Oh, and given your comment about Tentacruel being a possible Grass-type due to Poison, and your edit remark on Croagunk (TCG), I'm left to assume that you're not aware that Poison-types have shifted from Grass to Psychic in the TCG? Cipher 20:36, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Hmm?

Should there be redirects to nonexistent pages? --ニョロトノ666 21:08, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

In reference to the Stunky and Munchlax MD redirects, yes, they should, because the pages will exist eventually. Cipher 21:15, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Nope. Redirects shouldn't be created until the target article exists. I'll let the broken redirects already created slide for now, though, since the targets are at high risk for creation. --Shiningpikablu252 21:16, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Problem

Check Empoleon (Diamond & Pearl 4). See what it says in the infobox for the image? The image apparently doesn't exist, although if you check the upload log on the archives, you'll find that I've uploaded it. Also, you'll notice that File:DPMagnezone doesn't exist on the archives, despite my uploading it, but does exist on Bulbapedia. It's just all one big picture-perfect mess. :D --ニョロトノ666 01:13, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

There's currently a few glitches preventing images from being seen properly on both sides of the Bulbapedia/Archives line. Your Empoleon image fell prey to such a glitch.
As for your Magnezone problem, you didn't include the filename extension. I assume you meant Image:DPMagnezone.jpg? Bulbapedia does recognize that image as existing...--Shiningpikablu252 02:40, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Energy Template

Why is it necessary to write out "{{e|Colorless}}" instead of just "{{e}}" when both result in the same thing? --ニョロトノ666 20:17, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

It's customary to type out Colorless when referring to anything other than the Retreat Cost. It's been part of the style for a long time now.
There actually is a difference between {{e|Colorless}} and just {{e}}--Colorless displays "Colorless" when hovering over it, while   displays a blank when hovering over it. --Shiningpikablu252 21:05, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Theininen's block

Theininen just sent me an e-mail, apologizing for creating those game articles; here, let me simply copy+paste his e-mail contents.

User:Shiningpikablu252 blocked me for "Inserting false information: Creating numerous articles about nonexistant Pokémon games". I had made 3 pages for the names in the article on Bulbanews, and he told me to stop, but I did not get his message to stop until after I had made a fourth. I was in the middle of typing an apology when he banned me, and as he has no contact info on his page, I couldn't apologize directly. After closely reviewing the manual of style, I found no rule mentioning this policy, but I will still admit that I was in the wrong, and would just like to come back on. Could you please tell him that I am sorry, and relay the gist of this message to him? If you have not gotten to read this message by 9:28 PM May 30, please ignore it, as I will be able to come back on myself.

From what I can see (looking through the logs and whatnot), he probably didn't get your warning until after he had saved the last page (I've had that happen once or twice to me.) I'm personally assuming good faith here, I don't think he was trying to be disruptive in any way. But that's merely my opinion; I'll leave it to you to decide for yourself if his ban is still needed. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 19:23, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for unblocking me!!!! And I meant what I said, I really am sorry about it, and will be more cautious about what I say in the future. Theininen 23:49, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry

I gott too frustraited. i will never do it again. please send me information on how to make it look like that. Thanks, --Summersgilla 21:05, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Redirect

Why'd you delete Saphire? It seems like a basic misspelling, so I thought that it would be a decent redirect. I wasn't trying to bend it into anything. Theininen 01:21, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Could you at least explain what you meant by the game's seven character limit to me? Theininen 20:22, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
The English-language games (and I'd assume all other languages that use Roman alphabets, such as German or Portuguese) allow player character names to be only seven characters long. NPC characters are allowed more (for example, Flannery at 8 or Crasher Wake at 13 counting the space), but player characters are restricted to 7 characters or less. This means that, out of all released game versions, only "Sapphire" (8) and "LeafGreen" (9) wouldn't fit into the character limit ("Platinum" would also not fit into the limit at 8 characters should that name hold--I'm certain it won't, odds are its final name will be "Girasol" (7)). --Shiningpikablu252 21:08, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
So why can't it be a redirect? Theininen 13:54, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Redirection

When creating redirects for the Vending Machine cards, I discovered some broken links to Japanese Promotional cards and I think they are actually links referring to Unnumbered Promotional cards. Could you look into this for me? I am unsure if they are or not. Thanks MoldyOrange 01:53, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Some of the broken links are on this page. MoldyOrange 01:54, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Most of them are taken care of now. Of course, I couldn't find a match for a link listed as "Magikarp (JP Promo 01)" (which would correspond to an unnumbered promotional Magikarp released in 2001, of which I could find none in the list)...--Shiningpikablu252 03:08, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
There was a Shining Magikarp (Neo Revelation 66). That could be what was being referenced to. it was in 2001. MoldyOrange 18:57, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Scratch that. It was supposed to be Magikarp (University promo)! They just screwed up the links. On this, it was linked correctly but on this, it was wrong...and they were talking about the same thing. MoldyOrange 19:00, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Not Sure

Not sure what to do with the page. Maybe I'll expand the manga section of article for Team Rocket someday, and make Neo Team Rocket redirect too Team Rocket -> In The Manga -> Johto section. But not now. For now, I think the Neo Team Rocket article should be just kept. --Maxim 18:34, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Mysterious problem

Okay. AetherTeen, a relatively new user, just edited Glaceon, but it doesn't show up on the page. Check the revision history, and the edit appears. Check the page, and the new text isn't there. What's going on? --ニョロトノ666 21:33, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

From what I could tell, nothing's wrong. The user only removed a trivia tidbit saying Glaceon was the first fourth-generation Ice-type to appear in the anime (that honor goes to Weavile). --Shiningpikablu252 21:41, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Crap. I just realized that the user removed the text. Before, I thought they had added it. Sorry! --ニョロトノ666 21:43, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Sailor Earth

He's attempting to start his usepage on a talk page. He's saving his edits over and over again. Isn't that the reason why we have a ban on userpages? Please look into it. --ケンジガール 22:24, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Ugh. Sorry, this is my fault. I told him some people are starting their userpages on their talk pages, and that it should be OK as long as he didn't edit it too much (the discussion's on my talk page). I guess I wasn't clear enough. I won't be doing that again, though. Sorry. --Martonimos((Talk)) 22:55, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Celebi glitch

Why did you delete the page?! It is NOT a phony glitch! I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 16:04, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

The page was deleted because it's been long since debunked. If the glitch were real, serebii.net would NOT have a page stating it's fake. Please stop passing off a fake glitch as real. Trust me, you do NOT want to end up like Darkrai breeder, who kept insisting a glitch Pokémon called Glatra was real but, instead of providing proof, flamed everyone in sight who doubted him. --Shiningpikablu252 16:10, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Not fair...

I see some people are creating what should be on userpages on talk pages and making repeated edits. There breaking the rules. At this rate we'll never get the userpage ban lifted. --ケンジガール 19:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Actually, EVERYTHING IS FINISHED. we should have gotten the priviledges back a month ago, but they're looking for a program that limits the amount of edits each day•Pokemaniac102 16:44, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Welcome message update

Pachirisulover12 suggested this on Kuki's talk page. Maybe it'd be a good idea to mention the userspace ban in the welcome message. I know most people don't bother reading it, but this way, anyone who does would know not to ask "Y CNAT I EDIT MAH USERPAGE???" If you included an explanation of why, they'd probably avoid clogging up the recent changes with Talk Page edits, too.

On that subject...... it's my fault Sailor Earth started this, so I want to fix it hard and fast, before more people start getting ideas. Perhaps we ought to institute a new policy of not putting userpage content on a user talk page, and crack down on anyone who violates it. Maybe it's a little harsh, but like I said, I want to stop this mess before it gets out of hand. Considering that it seems to be spreading already, I think it's important that we address it quickly. --Martonimos((Talk)) 21:21, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

More Forme stuff

At Deoxys. Though I got some disturbing news on my talk page: the USA Pokemon site Pokedex has Deoxys listed under different "forme"s now instead of "form"s. I don't know what that will mean for the form/forme stuff, if this means "forme" is becoming official or what. But I thought I'd throw some stuff out there. Toastypk 04:53, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Trust me, this will NOT hold. The odds of this "forme" bullsh*t holding are 0%. --Shiningpikablu252 05:02, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
I dunno. If PUSA's using Forme for Deoxys this early, I'd bet they're keeping it for Giratina. TTEchidna 00:09, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
I completely agree - there's no proof whatsoever that forme won't hold, and if it applies to Deoxys it'll likely apply to other legendaries, so you can't say for certain. Cipher 16:02, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Please...

I understand why you deleted the "mission" pages I created on my talk, but why won't you leave the my team pages alone? I know they are supposted to by on the user: space, but I was going to copy them there when editing user pages will be enabled again. --Sanky 15:37, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

The action was done to prevent abuse of the User talk namespace. Trust me, if people saw you making those kind of edits to the User talk namespace, those people would get ideas that it's OK to abuse the User talk namespace while the User namespace is locked down. If unchecked, such an action would cause a chain reaction ultimately leading to a similar lockdown for the User talk namespace, resulting in standard users not having the ability to leave messages. This, in turn, would let vandals such as a Ph34r, WillyOnWheels, Jsmith, or JohnnyRebel, have their way with pages due to the lack of ability to contact sysops. Trust me, this is for the good of everyone. Please wait this out. --Shiningpikablu252 15:43, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't have made that up. And sorry for them being poorly written; I am not used to Wiki editing yet and I thought having a stub page was better than not having a page at all. Nevar00 02:50, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Why did you delete my signature? I used the {{SUBST}} code rather than the template code, so that's why it didn't show up on any of my pages. Shiny Noctowl  12:21, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Because signature templates are not allowed under the new signature policy, not even to use "subst" code with. Trust me, you were far from the only one to lose a signature template in this way. --Shiningpikablu252 15:53, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Politoed666's list (MD scans)

Hiya, just wanna let you know that I'm gonna scan in some of the missing images from P666's list from my Majestic Dawn collection over the weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to scan and edit them on Saturday, and upload them on Sunday. I might do the Team Rocket cards, too - with the cards I have, I can actually finish that set off. At least, I'm 99% certain I can. Cipher 21:43, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Personally, I'm actually indifferent in this matter. However, if it's all the same to you, I'd rather wait until either Chimchar evolves or Turtwig leaves, since the former'll align it perfectly opposite Staravia and the latter'll align two Pokémon perfectly against Staravia. --Shiningpikablu252 20:19, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Wow! Never thought of it that way. So that one Swinub (the one people are claiming Dawn to get) could be someone else's too right?Taviource 20:53, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, the Swinub could be someone else's, very likely Marley, a COTD, or possibly Brock. Probably not Paul's, since he's currently listed with 7 on hand and no way of telling which one he might have kicked off the team or left with his brother after getting Electabuzz back...--Shiningpikablu252 20:56, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Hah! We definitely know it's not Paul that has a little Swinub.  :)--Taviource 20:59, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Actually, we can't eliminate Paul on the Swinub. Although the odds that the Swinub is his are extremely unlikely, it's still possible. Remember, he could have kicked off and/or shelved more than one. --Shiningpikablu252 21:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Guess you're right! But it's still hard to imagine Paul with a Swinub...which probably looks weak to Paul because of its size. --Taviource 21:05, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Talk Page Block

would it be inappropriate to make a template based on your talk page comment block speech? -- MAGNEDETH 23:11, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

ok, though, i dont know how to make templates... -- MAGNEDETH 23:21, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Such a template would be best run from the User namespace. Since that namespace is blocked to those who aren't sysops, you're probably going to have to wait to actually make it, but when it comes time, copy the standard rant into the page used for the template. You may also want to put in some autosignature code and a noincluded notice about how to use the template (I'd recommend always calling it with "subst"). --Shiningpikablu252 23:25, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
well, ive never made a template, ever. itll be an adventure. as for the tag, i was thinking somthing like {{subst:TPCD}} (Talk Page Comment Deletion) but idk if thats too short or somthing. -- MAGNEDETH 23:31, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
The template I use for link template reminders is at User:Shiningpikablu252/Link Templates, so I would advise waiting for the User namespace to reopen. --Shiningpikablu252 23:33, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Dawn's Ambipom

I think it might be an idea to check episode pics of Ambipom against the spirites. - Cassius335 17:04, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

I actually did that before making the edit in question. Granted, we haven't seen any other Ambipom, but it appeared that Dawn's Ambipom does have the female hair length as an Ambipom. Now, if that summary (which specifically singled out Ambipom) was for it as an Aipom, that would have been a valid point since Ash caught it 11 episodes prior to Dawn's debut (with a Japanese gender confirmation in the very next episode; the dub wouldn't get such a confirmation for another 49 episodes after the Japanese confirmation), which was still within Generation III and gender differences didn't factor for anything. --Shiningpikablu252 17:14, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Ash's Squirtle

Okay, Pikablu-san, with all due respect, I think that using alternate sprites is a novel idea and you are clearly imaginative if you think I'm going to accept them without a full and frank discussion. Making ammends

What I did before was wrong and selfish, but it was a very stressful time, and that sort of got into Bulbapedia which it never will agian. See my thought at the time was that people were stealing it and that it was meant to be like that, and that I made it and people shouldn't change it.

But when I was blocked I realised I was wrong and I thank you for unblocking me.

So to show that I am not like that monster I saw on the history page, can you remove the protection so I can add something. I swear it will improve it, and make it better, you gave me another chance at Bulbapedia and unblocked me, now give me a chance with the template to make it better. Misunderstanding

I was away for a while, when all the deleting seemed to happen. We weren't a rebellion we were just gathering supporters who agreed BP should be more democratic. If you read it we said we were going to get enough supporters and then discuss it with Zhen Lin, we were gathering people to show Zhen Lin there was support for this idea, we were totally for Bulbapedia and improving it like wikipedia, and we seem to be labled as a rebellion, some group trying to take over, we just wanted a fairer system.

It was originaly on the project space but Porygon-Z moved it to my talk space, so we thought it was alright to do it there. So do we have permision to carry on in the forums, and do the forums use wiki-coding. Guardian of Earth 19:36, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

No, the forums use vBulletin. --Shiningpikablu252 19:37, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Do we need to register acounts on it or does it accept these acounts and passwords. Also I will need to show our members that we are now on the forums, (Fabu-vinny created a page) but will you see that as war mongering as DCM put it. And as a note why aren't we allowed to tell users if they support our idea to go to a certian page. Guardian of Earth 19:47, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Everything in the Bulbagarden system requires separate accounts. It's not like CNET and their universal account system. --Shiningpikablu252 19:50, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

First three are already protected. And protecting three/five character articles on one alleged potential capture before the episode prior to the alleged potential capture is overkill. deletion GSDS

why is it an act of retaliation?

Even User:TTEchidna says on the talk page it shouldn't be made yet.

It is all theory based. The fact of ingame location of Johto does not give sufficient evidence for a remake. And some of the theories and hints on there?

So can I put the deletion tag back? Guardian of Earth 21:39, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but no, don't put the deletion tag back on. Another sysop'll just remove the tag again or, in the event a deletion does succeed, restore the article. Trust me, there's been more than one attempt against the article, yet it's still standing.
As for the retaliation comment, it was assumed that you put the deletion tag on because the page was moved back from the "GSDS" title. It's as if you were demanding "the article stays at GSDS or it doesn't exist at all". There are better ways to try to convey a point, successful or not. --Shiningpikablu252 21:45, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

No it wasn't retaliation. I really want GSDS, in fact more than TTEchidna, but the whole article is just fanon theories and very ambiguous hints. Guardian of Earth 09:55, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Why?

why there a ban on editing the user area? I find it soooooooo annoying any how else will i keep track of it all. and also can I have an estimate on when they are going to bring back the privilages? Atomix26 23:44, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

The User namespace was locked down to all but sysops in late March. This was because many users were making edits only to the User namespace, using it for stuff such as a blog, Myspace, or gaming hub, causing not only a lack of edits to encyclopedic articles but causing whatever edits did get made to those articles to be overshadowed. These userspace edits were large in number, often contributing to a server lag.
Apparently, at one point, it was decided that "enough is enough". Userspace editing to all except sysops has been stopped since then. There was, of course, an uproar over this, so much that Bulbapedia's April Fools' joke for April 1, 2008 was making people think the userspace had been deleted (using a technical quirk that had been exploited by a vandal).
As for the return of userspace functionality, unfortunately, I don't think anybody knows when this will happen. Solutions to the problem are still being shopped around for as we speak. --Shiningpikablu252 23:52, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Ban users who do so? also you can't keep doing this forever. Atomix26 00:13, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Also why can't you make it so you can ignore the edits in the username space for recent edits. Also people would need someplace else to "advertise" themselves for blogging/myspace/ect,ect, so just ban users who just do that. The whole community can't suffer because of a small group. May I see an example of a really edited userpage? I.E one that has alot of myspace/blog/gamming. Atomix26 00:21, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Just look at this: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/User:Espeon360 Emperor's Cookies 00:47, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Whoa... but if it is all related to pokemon... It SHOULD be acceptable. Atomix26 17:06, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
It's too much on the server, if every user on Bulbapedia were to read or make a bunch a pages just like that, the server would crash big time and probably not be back up for quite a long time.Boywonder01 17:15, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Then the only solution is to get a better server. Atomix26 15:17, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Card question

I found "Forina's Jirachi" in the 6th Movie Half Deck and I was unsure of how to link it when I added it to Jirachi. I put it as this: {{TCG ID|Wish Maker Half Deck|Forina's Jirachi|4}} instead of: {{TCG ID|6th Movie Half Deck|Forina's Jirachi|4}} because it looked akward to me with the 6th in the link. I just wanted to know if this was okay or if it should be something else before I started putting all of them in. MoldyOrange 20:02, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

I'd go with "6th Movie Half Deck". Keep in mind that many of the movies have long-winded titles on at least one side of the Pacific. --Shiningpikablu252 20:25, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Question.

Would creating a project page at User talk:Martonimos/Relinks be acceptable under the current rules? It would involve me moving the content from the "Move link project" and "Questions about redirect project" sections of my talk page to the page, re-divided up into "Content" and "Discussion" sections. The "Content" could be moved to the user page itself when the ban is lifted (I don't want it moved before, as it's something I'll need to change occasionally). So what do you think? I wanted to make sure this wouldn't be seen as getting around the ban, since it technically is userpage content on a user talk page. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 19:24, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, such an undertaking would probably fall into trying to get around the userspace ban. --Shiningpikablu252 21:01, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

TCG: Japanese Half Deck Templates

Well, I was doing the Intense Fight page and related pages today, and upon adding it to Template:Japanese Half Decks, I decided to have a play-around with it to try and clean it up. As such, I've created two separate ones, which I've put on Bulbapedia:Sandbox. They're right at the bottom - let me know what you think. Any suggestions to change 'em, go right ahead, as I think these'd be better than putting all half-decks into one box. Cheers, Cipher 21:23, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

That could possibly work. However, I'd wait until TTEchidna gets back, run the idea by him, and see what he thinks about it before taking any action.
Just for the record, the 5th Movie Half Deck wasn't released during the EX series. Its release date puts it between e-Card 3 and e-Card 4 from the previous series. I'd probably split the movie half decks into their own infobox for consistency--after all, they all technically fall into the VS style. --Shiningpikablu252 21:30, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good, I'll ask him later in the week then. I've split the movie half decks into a separate infobox if you wanna check it.
Actually, talking about the e-Card sets, I had an idea about a week ago, but I'm unsure whether or not it'd be a sensible idea. I considered, and actually tried, merging the e-Card 2 and e-Card 3 pages into the Aquapolis page (didn't actually implement it, of course, just did the page code in Notepad), as well as the details. I managed to get it to actually look decent in the set infobox, and I've put that infobox in the sandbox with the other infoboxes, 'cos I'd appreciate comments on that as well. I'm just unsure if it'd be a suitable merge. Cipher 22:10, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Looks like I forgot to put that up in the Sandbox last night. It's now in there. Cipher 14:59, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

More like a shortlink.--Boywonder01 22:30, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
We actually did have a link templates for items at one time. The template was one of the one-letter ones, I (it has since been deleted). Problem was, the link template redirected to a messy page that was basically a very long list of items (it has since been retooled), and not even a complete one at that. Given how items are nowadays splattered over a selection of articles, I'm afraid a link template for items isn't exactly viable. You're best off using the redirects, such as X Sp. Def, Old Gateau, Rare Bone, or Cherish Ball.
Ok--Boywonder01 22:41, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

The User namespace is currently locked down to all except sysops. This was due to people abusing edits to that namespace, even going as far as some users creating accounts for the sole purpose of the User namespace. This flood of edits to the User namespace caused many legitimate edits to go unnoticed.
In an effort to try to promote contributions to encyclopedic articles, the User namespace was locked down sometime in late March. While some people have been trying to find ways around this lockdown, overall contributions to encyclopedic articles have increased. It's currently unknown when this lockdown will end. --Shiningpikablu252 16:21, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
