RE:Archives

Im a bit confuzzled by what you said on my page--Davidaipom 19:40, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

See the "move" button at the top of most pages, between "history" and "watch" (or "unwatch" in some cases)? When you archive, the best thing to do is click on that button and move the page to User:David aipom/Archive N or something. That way, the history of the page is preserved with the archive, so people can go back and look at that more easily. In the meantime, your new page starts more or less completely from scratch, so all the stupid comments and two-day-old arguments some jerk puts on your page don't even show up in the history.
I don't think there's anything wrong with your way; that is to say, there's no reason to try to do it now, as that'll probably screw things up. But I do think my way's better. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 21:02, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Help

Hi! I need some help. I'm trying to update some Pokémon learnsets with platinum level up Moves. Everything is going fine in the Pokémon pages, but I can't seem to update the Move page correctly, since I can't put a platinum mark on the Pokémon when updating the learnset list. To illustrate what I mean, see the difference between the Glaceon and Barrier pages. I tried doing it by repeating the format of other pages and looking at some tutoring pages, but I just can't figure it out. Thanks in advance.--Mr. Charlie 20:01, 13 September 2008 (GMT)

So, I will wait until the new templates are ready to be used and then start updating the moves pages. Or should I update now putting the templates as if they existed?--Mr. Charlie 21:55, 13 September 2008 (GMT)
Great, thanks again. I'll do a little more, and update pages like Bug Bite, then I might take a break. I got too excited about it, I'm strangely happy about Caterpie getting a new move. It inspired me to work.--Mr. Charlie 24:18, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi Wyrmseeker

Did u get my FF.net PMs?--KukiTalk 04:01, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes. I'm chatting with a friend on MSN, and watching the RCs, and reading e-mail, so I hope you'll forgive that it's taking a while to respond. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 04:05, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah. I cnstantly edit earlier YHABTO chapters, and worked on a future part--KukiTalk 04:06, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

...do you have PMs disabled? --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 04:10, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

No--KukiTalk 04:11, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Are you sure? Because I can PM myself, my writing friends, some crazy chick who's got the only other Heath/Florina fic on the site, and this random dude I found that writes for a comic I've never heard of... but not you. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 04:22, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Just changed it bak. Mom must've screwed with it--KukiTalk 04:23, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Well, since the PMs seem to have stopped... you can go ahead and e-mail the first chapter to me. You ougt to be able to get my e-mail from here or FF.net. I'll get to it when I can, although as a college freshman, I can't make any promises about when that will be. Plus, Disgaea DS comes out in four days, and I'll be distracted from everything forever after that. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 05:21, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Funny you should bring this up...

...I just happened to be looking over his talk page before you informed me about the situation. I'll review the situation and decide what to do. Thank you for informing me. --PAK Man Talk 04:02, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

I appreciate it. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 04:10, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Platinum

How are the platinum level-up moves supposed to be listed in Pokémon pages?--Diby 10:54, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

On top of the DP ones. Put them where they would normally be by order of level-up; just be sure you use the twelfth (I think it's twelfth...) field to specify which games you're referring to. For example, on Glaceon's page, you'll notice how it learns Barrier by level-up at lv. 78 in Platinum only, because the twelfth field has a Pt in it to denote that. If it learns a move in did in DP at a different level in Pt, put in both and use the switch to denote the different games.
...did that make sense? It's late, I'm tired. --((Marton imos)) 11:00, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

What do u think?

Would it be a good idea to add the Mimey sprite to the cleanup tag?--KukiTalk 22:09, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

I don't think it's necessary, but I wouldn't fight it if it happened anyway. --((Marton imos)) 22:10, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

I mean, I see it fitting, considering Mimey's purpose--KukiTalk 22:11, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Platinum Level Up: What about Egg Moves?

With new platinum level up moves, new parents are available to pass on Egg Moves. Just to mention an example , Pinsir now have Scyther and Scizor available to pass Feint. How do I put these on the Pokémon and Moves pages?--Mr. Charlie 18:40, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Oh, balls. I'll look at the template and see if I can figure this out... --((Marton imos)) 20:54, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Small Question

would you mind if i used your "User is a dick" tag? -- MAGNEDETH 00:55, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Hehe. Not at all. --((Marton imos)) 00:57, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
thanks, you dick. -- MAGNEDETH 01:01, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
No problem.

Image

I uploaded a picture to use for a subpage, so I was wondering if it was okay to do that. I didn't know if I could have personal images. --PsychicRider 00:17, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

You can have two, and only two! That is a rule that is usually enforced by me, myself, and I. But I question why you asked Martonimos, I am the only one who deals with the personal image limit. MoldyOrange 00:37, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. And, honestly, I do not know. Probably because I didn't know. --PsychicRider 00:43, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
You can also link to images externally from photobucket or something, as long as it's on your userpage. It's a nice way to us multiple personal images without cluttering up the archives. --((Marton imos)) 00:56, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that useful information. If I end up having too, I'll do that. --PsychicRider 01:06, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Userspace warnings, new template perhaps?

Do you think it might be a good idea to make a template to use for warning people that over-edit their userpages? - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:07, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

They already have.--Kkllnn blastoise 18:09, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Already is. Check out Template:UserWarning. That's what I put on his page the second time.
But what I am thinking of making is one for warning people who haven't gone over the limit, but are getting close. I figure it's better to warn them ahead of time than wait for them to go over and ding them for breaking a rule they may not have known about. --((Marton imos)) 18:10, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Awesome, and I agree for one when they have hit the 3rd edit. It is better to try and get them to stop early, before they get hit for a rule-break. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:15, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Done. See User:Martonimos/Edits. --((Marton imos)) 18:25, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Looks good, but I checked it out on my sandbox, and it seems to constantly sign with your signature. Shouldn't it be set up to sign for whoever happens to use it? - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:32, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
I think I fixed it. --electAbuzzzz 18:34, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
You did, but broke the directions for how to use it. I have fully fixed it up though ^_^ - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:42, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
True, but you also caused the previous problem to return. I fixed it. Hopefully, now it works. --electAbuzzzz 18:45, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Yea, I noticed that when you fixed the fixed fixing. It's definitely fully fixed now. And I hope the constant talk page changes hasn't made anyone get confused, or go crazy ^_^; - Kogoro | Talk to me | 18:50, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Why must there be so many templates. They should read the message from the editor and know that there are only three, they shouldn't have to be told when the info is right there and in the welcome. MoldyOrange 19:04, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
There's something about that in the welcome message?--Kkllnn blastoise 19:07, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Now there is, read the current one Template:Welcome. MoldyOrange 19:08, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Funny, I don't know what I'm posting on those user's talk pages lol. But do other users seriously read those messages? I remember it took me 2 months for me to read mine...--Kkllnn blastoise 19:12, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes, people should read the Messages from the Editor, but sadly, a lot of people don't bother to read it. Remember the million plus times people asked why they couldn't edit in the userspace during the full ban? It's better to warn them before they break the rule, and maybe they will get the hint of checking out the MftE, MoS, and other sections listed in the welcome message. A template just makes the warning process easier for people who wish to help other Bulbapedians know and understand the rules. Well, at least that is how I see it - Kogoro | Talk to me | 19:15, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
They are supposed to read it. If they don't and they get in trouble, that is their own fault. I just don't see the use for the "You are approaching the limit" template. It just seems that it involves keeping an even closer eye on who is editing the Userspace, and it also adds to the amount of edits done to the User talk space. They shouldn't have to be told! They should already know. This template is just a waste of server stress, userspace, and people's time that could be spent adding to the mainspace. MoldyOrange 19:17, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
If you really feel that way, Moldy, then go ahead and delete it. Not like I can stop you. If, on the other hand, you feel like helping people--which I think should be at least a small part of your job as an admin--then I suggest you let it stay. Even if it does go, I'll just wind up typing out the message by hand, because regardless of what you think, it seems to me that one edit to warn them ahead of time is better than two edits to let them go over and then warn them. --((Marton imos)) 22:48, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
If you want to waste your time using it, then go ahead. But if you do, that would be a shame... you are such a good main space contributor, and I'd hate to see your time go to waste by warning users. MoldyOrange 22:58, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

I apologize for the first part of that last post. It was rhetorical, and based on a logical fallacy. I stand the second part, though. As long as we have and use templates like this one or this one, we may as well have this one. --((Marton imos)) 03:07, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't know if you got the meassage, but...

I said: "The standard for them is [[Pokémon name (TCG#Card name|Card name]]. It has card name for the example of Misty's Goldeen, Arcanine LV X, Aura's Lucario ex, Light Ninetales, etc. They should all be that: both the link in "name" and the link in "evolution stage"." MoldyOrange 00:19, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I got the message. --((Marton imos)) 00:20, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

So, I'm guessing the annoying red exclamation point indicates an edit that needs to be patrolled? --((Marton imos)) 03:13, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Cngratulations :) Told ya. You'll do great. (BTW, did you get my second e-mail? Just to be sure...) --electAbuzzzz 07:10, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

You haven't added yourself to the list of admins yet. I think you definitely should, since you are an admin now. --Baby G (talk to me) (see my edits) 21:37, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

TTE's done that for everyone else so far, and I don't want to overstep my bounds. Besides, people can always find me using Special:Listusers/sysop if they need an admin. --((Marton imos)) 21:41, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Source

Check Serebii. Is that a good enough of a source?--Blazevoir!! 22:00, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I dunno, I know nothing about Serebii. Anyway, when two different people add a statement and refuse to give it a source, I figured Serebii was the likely culprit. They said it was Dim Sun "According to the official website," but I have no idea where said website is; the only link we have on the article is to the Japanese one. --((Marton imos)) 22:02, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Serebii is a somewhat good source of Pokémon info, but it has a few errors. For example, when Pikachu was Serebii's Pokémon of the Week, it was stated that Pikachu could do Template:M2. SharKing 01:44, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Hey

Martonimos, give that one guy one more warning if he does it again, I think, then, are you allowed to block him. He must have one more warning before his punishment, well that's at least what I heard from other admins.--Tavisource 22:04, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't think so

Just give him one for maybe a day or so, though. Nothing too extreme. --PAK Man Talk 22:05, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

You guys can't forget to give him warnings..did he get his third warning yet?, I only saw two.--Tavisource 22:08, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
On a similar (I think) matter, the user Dude851884 has been adding team Dim Sun to articles and even created a Team Dim Sun article. I was wondering if I have the authority, as an average member, to add a delete tag, and if not, weither it should still be deleted. Rawr I say! 22:18, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Never minds, Pachirisu Lover took care of it... who I expect to have a better opinion that me... being a nominee... Rawr I say! 22:20, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Team Dim Sun

This comes from Serebii ----HoennMaster 03:37, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes, but Serebii gives a source that we ought to be able to check to verify this info. Go there and include a link to it the next time you add it. If you haven't done so already; I've been off for a while. --((Marton imos)) 22:20, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

I have never added this to the page, I'm just posting the source so you know. Serebii gets it from the European site.

Yes, I went over. I'm the one who usually is on the look out for people who over edit. But this time, it was me. Cc716

This user has been adding low quality pics of Max's swimwear in the List of clothing in the anime article. I am giving you the pics here so that you can judge whether they are fit enough to be kept.

I don't think that they are necessary. I mean, if we get better pics, then we may keep them but till then, I think they are only eating up space. After all, the page is supposed to be an article, not a picture gallery.--Diby 04:51, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Hm. The problem with those pics is that the focus isn't on Max or his swimwear. Not... uh... not that I like pics to focus on pre-pubescent boys in their swimtrunks. Ahem. Anyway. The quality itself seems ok, but if you can find pics that don't require squinting to see what the subject of the article actually is, I'd suggest replacing the pics with those. --((Marton imos)) 21:59, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Since you're online..

Candidates for protection category has three pages. One is a template used on 493 pages at least. Then there's the Event Pokémon list which seems to have had a war over Dragonite (comment by the template says until Nov 8th), and then one other page. Gywall(Talk) 10:21, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

OK, I've protected the two stat templates and the revolution page. I'm not too keen on the event Pokémon page, since the edit war on that one is two days old, but I have watched it so I can do something if it continues.
Anything else? --((Marton imos)) 10:29, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Yes, well. Um... --((Marton imos)) 10:32, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Block

Surely 1 revert edit isnt a war. I know Kuki has made mistakes in the past, but he said to me he was trying his best to make sure he never got in trouble again. 1 revert edit surely isnt something bad, if he reverted it a 2nd time then maybe yeah that would be bad. Shouldn't you assume good faith in that Kuki was doing what he thought was best for the project but then stopped as he only reverted once which suggests to me he was doing his best to prevent an edit war but was banned anyway, so please will you undo the ban. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

Jmath and Nick. were edit-warring. Kuki may have only made 1 revert, but doing so did bring him into the war going on at the time. The block that he received wasn't unfair. Kuki should have kept out of it and let an Admin handle it. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 21:11, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
So, he wasn't apart of the war, he made one edit, why does that carry the same punishment as the ones who were warring? I think its harsh but if BP insist on giving a ban for such a minor contribution to a war shouldnt he at lkeast have a much reduced sentence, like only banned for a day or 2. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010
Agreed. If two users are revert warring, and one other users does one revert to the article in question during the revert war, that user shouldn't be punished. Chocolate 21:22, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Read the policy, people. "Put simply, if two or more users are involved in an edit war over an image for an article, and they continue after initially being asked to refrain from such behavior, all users involved will receive a block equal to the total amount of reversions between all users involved. I.E., if two users switch between an image four times each, they will each receive a block of eight days." By the strictest reading, that means all three of them get the same punishment. If you don't like it, you should be appealing to a higher power than I. --((Marton imos)) 23:12, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Ah but, did you give him a warning to refrain from warring further, if you didnt, then you should have, if you did, obviously he took that warning and didnt edit further. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010
He broke the policy. If you would just read it, you would see that he doesn't get a warning. And if I'm not mistaken, this wasn't his first breach of that particular policy, either, so he already knew what he was getting into. --((Marton imos)) 22:57, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
" and they continue after initially being asked to refrain from such behavior," isnt that a warning, you were meant to tell him to stop warring, not just ban himm straight away. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010
Fine. I'll discuss this with the others. --((Marton imos)) 23:01, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
He was asked to stop when he was blocked for this same reason because of Lance's Dragonite. He was asked to stop before the incident with his mother. He was asked to stopped when he was blocked from the Archives. Looks like he got enough warnings for more than just one person. MaverickNate 23:46, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
