Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Hmdwgf!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Hmdwgf/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --MoldyOrange 22:51, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Preview button

Please use it instead of making multiple minor edits on the same subject. It shows the changes without saving them so that you can find out and correct any mistakes you may have made.--Diby 18:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Preview

When you're editing, use the preview button. If you make multiple edits to the same page simultaneously, it floods the recent changes.Porygon-Z 18:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Alright, this is your third warning. Please use the Preview button. Its not that difficult to use it. Look at what you have done to the Recent Changes page.--Diby 18:27, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Stop. Use the preview button. You're making the all-seeing-eyes of recent changes very annoyed. Porygon-Z 18:34, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Please, stop. What's so difficult about clicking a particular button?--Diby 18:41, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Blocked

You've been blocked for 2 hours for flooding, just to cool down. Once the block is up, you're welcome to resume editing while using the preview button. Porygon-Z 18:43, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Deoxys

The page for the Deoxys you were thinking of is located atDeoxys (Destiny Deoxys). Just plain Deoxys is a disambig, and should never be linked to. I'm not entirely sure what you were trying to do with {{an|Deoxys|anime}}, but that would have linked to Deoxys (anime), which redirects to the correct page. You want to avoid redirects when you can.

Also, as you have apparently been told many times before, preview your edits so that you don't wind up making seven of them in a short space of time. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 23:25, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Seriously, chill. You kept editing so much that you steamrollered right over my fix, so I had to go back and re-do it (after Psychic-Rider already did, no less), so what could have been accomplished in one or two edits wound up taking 13. Oh, and before I forget: It's is a contraction of it is. Its is the possessive form of its. Be sure you're using the right one for the job. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 23:30, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Link templates

Thank you for your addition to EP014. However, you should know about the link templates. When linking to Pokémon, moves, abilities, etc., you should use link templates to ensure you don't hit a disambiguation page or redirect. Don't put [[Body Slam]], use {{m|Body Slam}}. For more information, check out the list of link templates. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 18:27, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Recent edits

I reverted your recent edits to Misty, because the fact that she hates Template:Type2 Pokémon is already stated above in the anime section. As a rule, information should only be stated once on each page, except in special cases. This is not a special case. Also, please remember to use the e-acute. --ニョロトノ666 20:43, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Blaaaah

I know it seems like I'm picking on you unfairly here, but you really need to improve a few minor aspects of your writing. For example, it's Pokémon, not Pokemon (note the é), and be sure you can distinguish between it's (a contraction of "it is") and its (the possessive form of "it"). --((Marton imos)) 06:39, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

PREVIEW

5 edits to one talk page before anyone else even says anything! Please, use the preview button. Porygon-Z 18:01, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Talk Page Comments

Please don't erase talk page comments for no reason. Trust me, you do NOT want to end up like Big Johnno, who got into an edit war with a sysop over comments the former had erased and was trying to keep erased. That user ended up blocked and subsequently had every erased comment restored. --((Marton imos)) 19:07, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

And sign your comments with ~~~~ on talk pages. Like this: ((Marton imos)) 19:07, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

PREVIEW

Use the damned "Preview button"! You have been blocked before for edit flooding and you are still not listening?--Diby 06:46, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

This person seems to have been editing their page a lot, and on a few occations. I recon someone should tell an admin... Sorry for stepping in randomly like i normal do. ~~Takoto タコト| サソデイ = 愛 09:32, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

You see, what you did to my talk page is a classic example of what not to do. You edited it thrice and added nothing but a few characters. If instead of doing that, if you had just used the "Show preview" button, it would have showed you the page as it was supposed to appear after saving your edit. Then, you could have spotted the mistakes that you made and you could have rectified it instead of editing it thrice in quick succession. What this does is that it clogs up the Special:RecentChanges with your edits only. As a result, we, the other users are able to see only your edits on the page and may miss some vandal edits. Thus, the vandalism stays in the pages till someone else notices them later (and that can be quite late). Hope you understand the problem and continue editing the way you have done in Giovanni & Cynthia's Garchomp's pages. Thank you.--Diby 10:23, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Edit War

Edit wars are against the rules. Next time you find yourself in a war with another user, take it to a talk page rather continuing with the user. If the other user doesnt listen and continues to war, contact an admin rather than continuing a war. Wars clog the Recent Changes. -- MAGNEDETH 20:55, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Link templates - second reminder

This is your second reminder to use the link templates. Don't type out [[Magmar]]. Instead, type out {{p|Magmar}}. The same applies for types ({{t}}), abilities ({{a}}), moves ({{m}}) as well as countless others. --PAK Man Talk 01:11, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Um

There are far more annoying users than Jmath. Some of them swear and call other people names instead of discussing calmly. Some of them have subtle sarcastic undertones. Some of them threaten to leave, and come back in a few hours. Please rethink your behaviour. So, he's reverting you? Don't revert back. Call in an unbiased third party to mediate the situation. I'd be happy to help; so would any admin I'm sure. Contact me at my talk page if you're interested. — THE TROM — 08:27, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

I take offense to that, Herr Trombo. Anyway, yeah, he's right. Just because someone is reverting your edits, it doesn't mean they are against you. Taken a look at the manual of style? I believe your guidelines for pictures are there. And instead of contributing just pictures, how about other stuff like...uhm...
You know what? Screw it. There's nothing else left to do except stalk the RC. :iconimannoyedplz: Aneeway, bottom line, don't get mad at Jmath. Perhaps the problem lies in your contributions themselves, instead of you. Achtung! Might wanna look at 'em and see if they don't contradict the manual of style.
