Mr.Mime (cont.)

I couldn't continue to talk because you have archived it. The point I want to say or hope that I don't understand is, Ash caught Mr.Mime in It's Mr.Mime Time, which is a fully evolved Pokémon. That means he caught it prior to Beedrill, but why didn't you add Mr.Mime instead of Beedrill in the trivia, and also it is 1031 episodes earlier. - unsigned comment from Dhiwakar (talk • contribs)

Not sure why you couldn't answer this question, Finnish, when you know the answer to it. In any case, Dhiwakar, you can't create new pages because you are not autoconfirmed. Notability requirement?

Hi, you reverted my edit on the Pokemon HQ Lab page for not being notable enough.

I checked the wiki rules for notability requirements and the only rule I see on notability is this one: "All English and Japanese Pokémon canon material is notable and relevant."

As this is an encyclopedia, I feel it could be useful - perhaps not to every user, but to some - to have a comprehensive list of Trainers and their Pokemon's movesets. The next battle in the game is the first Chobin battle, and that one Pokemon and one move has its own block there. Later on in the Pokemon HQ Lab page, the battle with Spy Naps is listed along with his Shadow Teddiursa's moves, even though he can never actually use any of them. So, I don't understand where the notability requirement comes in, and it seems inconsistent - is there a policy I'm not aware of? I'm new here.ReturnofVojtoRX (talk) 08:54, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I understood that, but my question is: why not? Or to put it another way, what's the harm in adding more detailed information on Trainer encounters? As I noted above, there are other Trainers from this game that are given a detailed list of moves and abilities when they arguably don't need them either. I don't see why it has to be removed for not being notable enough if it's factual information about the games and it's something players might encounter or find useful. Bulbapedia doesn't see it necessary for adding detailed party info for less notable Trainers. It would easily end up taking too much space if they were added for everyone. Too much space on the wiki servers or too much space on the page? You have two subpages on your user page relating to your Pokemon teams which use those templates several dozen times, so I'm assuming it's not a wiki space issue. Important Trainers are usually ones who have a notable role in the story or are major bosses, like your rivals, Gym Leaders, or villainous team leaders. Template:Drinks

I don't think the drinks are really all that related. Fresh Water, Soda Pop, and Lemonade are related and all can be purchased from vending machines, but the other three really aren't. MooMoo Milk at least can be purchased from vending machines in Orre, but otherwise isn't that similar. The only thing Tea has in common with them is that it replaces the role of the vending machine drinks for satisfying the Saffron guards. Berry Juice just has nothing in common with the others at all.

As a result, personally I'd rather just delete the template entirely and leave "See also" links between the three vending machine drinks. If you would like to make a case for why there should be navigation between them though, please go ahead. --SnorlaxMonster 09:45, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

My one concern with doing that is that I would want to put the "Vending Machine drinks" as the nav header, but then MooMoo Milk would also be in that category, but only in Colosseum and XD. Itemlist/2

Please don't use {{Itemlist/2}} (or 3) for cases like Gym rewards where you receive both at once. That's not what it's meant for and having different uses in different places will only be confusing.

The template is only meant for items that can randomly change. I.e., where you only get one item at a time, and the next day or something you may get something else (and where it's not convenient to separate those out to their own lists like Fishing items or something). (Sorry, I didn't think you necessarily wanted a response.) We can look at Axew's Eye for a fairly simple example.

In the uses you were putting it to, when you talk to one person, you get multiple items at once, like a TM and a uniform. If someone sees that and then comes to Axew's Eye, they would think that, oh, looks like if I look around the northwest shore, I can get a Pearl, Big Pearl, AND Pearl String (and a second Pearl and Big Pearl).

But, no, I made the template so that we could much more easily link those items in the Wild Area that can regenerate as different things for the same spot (like a Pearl OR a Big Pearl OR a Pearl String).

Hi, I made a description about Bea and her Pokémon on her page. Why was it not approved? I mean, her anime category is extremely reduced, and the episode showed a lot of her personality and her Pokémon. Isn't the goal to have a wiki with complete and (if) possible detailed information about each element of the franchise? The greatest merit of Twilight Wings is precisely that he is giving depth to some characters. Do not revert my edits with no reason

If you're going to revert my edits, give a good reason for doing so. Randomly reverting edits without so much as giving an edit reason is uncivil behavior. Besides, there was nothing wrong with the edits—so why did you do that? --Dada (talk) 16:46, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

I see you also reverted this change I made without reason. If you believe I was wrong, say so in the edit description. However in this case the reason why I made this edit is because the wallbreaking only occurs in the English dub and not in the Japanese original. The first one was because characters of the day aren't listed as debuts, splitting the double character link was unnecessary, and the last sentence didn't need to be split away from the big paragraph. The second one was because fourth wall breaks are listed in the trivia section, even if they're dub only. Here's the problem: when you removed all my edits, without edit reason or anything, you seem to have deleted more than you intended, judging on your message here. That's why I edit sections at a time instead of the whole page: because it allows me to explain the purpose of each edit.

Next time, use an edit reason instead of treating me like I'm a spambot whose content can just be thrown out like garbage. It's only a basic courtesy towards your fellow editors, all of whom are here in our spare time. I understand that this is a wiki and everything we write here is going to be edited by others, but giving a reason for it is only a basic thing. And not to mention, if you don't do that, the only thing that will happen is I'll edit it back in because I can't understand the reason why you removed it.

The things you did not acknowledge:

1) your revert on DP104. Can you at least just admit that you should've added "in the dub only" to that sentence, and that reverting it with no edit reason and no message either on my talk page or on the talk page of the article is incredibly suspicious?

2) you removed my addition regarding the conversation Delia has with Ash, and you removed my addition on line 129 regarding the title card. That's why you should not carelessly be reverting entire pages. You removed content that you didn't intend to remove. You apparently did that just because one sentence was split off from the rest. Did you not notice you removed those other things too?

3) I also removed a line in the errors section because it wasn't an error. You didn't mention any reason for removing it just now, so I'm assuming you also put that back in without realizing it by reverting the whole page.

It's difficult to assume good faith when you're just removing entire edits with apparently not having any reason for it. Please don't do it again and be careful next time, and if you're going to revert anything, make sure it's for a valid reason. I would absolutely do the same thing for you, and I don't think I'm being unreasonable here by asking that you do the same thing. --Dada (talk) 14:33, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Can you tell me what's missing on that Morty's Gengar page? I take the opportunity and ask what's missing from the Red's Charizard page too. They put a huge banner to say that the page is wrong, but they do not edit or say what is missing. The reason why I am changing the link to the video is because that original link you added back is actually my Facebook. I know that I have other links to my facebook with additional information which I believe to be important, but I feel a little more comfortable if the links were less from my facebook and more towards YouTube as I don't want to attract random strangers trying to add me. Not sure if I did this 'talk' thing right. It's my first time, I am new to editing on Bulbapedia. Although, it is indeed inside the Hulbury Stadium that you acquire the TM and not out in Hulbury. I don't see any reference to the TM or Whirlpool in the cities page but it does have a section in the Hulbury page for the Hulbury Stadium and I thought it would be a good idea to make a reference to the TM and/or whirlpool in that section of the page, what do you think? You really cleaned it up! So, I wanted to thank-you for that! It looks way better, but I'm just curious why did you decide to go with the ocean color for the items located in Circhester Bay and not the surfing color like how it shows when hunting Pokémon? Inferences

I apologize if the recent addition to the inference policy for the moves has caused confusion. Some things that I want to point out: All the moves that are to be inferred, those with or without additional context, have to be discussed with the staff first and then can be added to the moves pages, if the staff themselves haven't added already. This is to avoid edit warring, potential disputes or confusion like in Goh's Raichu's case. Another thing is the exceptions to inferences for non-verbal moves that are very difficult to identify, even with the additional context present, which I failed to address initially. That would include moves like Thunder Shock, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Discharge, or when it's between Volt Tackle and Wild Charge, or Stone Edge and Rock Blast etc. You get the gist. In the recent episode's case, while we do have some context present, which would be Ash commanding Pikachu to use the move and other characters lining up to contribute, it is definitely not enough to confirm that the others were using the exact same move. The animation of such moves did/does not help in differentiating them, as they look way too identical to identify. Because of this ambiguity, different users may perceive these occurrences differently, which may potentially lead to edit warring or disputes, which was not the intention when the policy in question was added. It's about Goh's Scorbunny's Double Kick, which, I think, falls under the same category as Shaymin's Aromatherapy. It was first called out in its capture episode, but I think that the move was already used in the previous episode. Based on the events that occurred in that particular episode, we have come to the conclusion that JN004 should be Double Kick's debut episode. The flashback followed by Goh recalling the move and commanding makes it abundantly clear. Also, it's the only kick-based/Fighting-type move that Scorbunny/Raboot has used from JN004 till the recent episode (Ember involves fire and kicking a rock, which is different). One thing that I want to make absolutely clear is that the decision has been made purely based on the specific scenario that played out in the anime, and I want to emphasize that without the mini flashback, it would have been very difficult to acknowledge this without ambiguity as Double Kick. The level at which it learns the move in the games plays no role in this particular case. That being said, please feel free to make the relevant changes concerning this when you get free time. Unique animations

This is simply not your judgement to make about Dragon Breath. Part of the reason we added anime moves explicitly to our policies was to avoid potential edit wars. A move can only be added if it was identified or is on Bulbapedia:List of moves with unique animations.

I.e., you cannot add a move just because you think it's unique.

Image removal?

Hi,

I'd noticed that you had deleted the image of the Celebi shrine from the Lake of Life page. The main reason the image wasn't added to the Arborville page was because the shrine was in the forest and not the town, and the forest, while unnamed, is very much associated with the lake. Galar Fossils

I noticed you reverted my edit regarding Yamper and I just wanted to explain my reasoning. The page for Yamper lists it as Professor Cerise's Yamper, and I saw that Dedenne is referred to as Clemont's Dedenne in the character section of articles despite mostly accompanying Bonnie. I'm totally fine with keeping it as "Yamper (Chloe's)", but I was wondering if "Chloe's" should be changed to "Professor Cerise's" to prevent confusion regarding its owner, similarly to how Dedenne is listed. List of Battle Points

Dear FinnishPokéFan92. I gave some addition info about the list of BPs in Battle Tower, Battle Palace and Battle Pike. 1) there is difference between "normal" BPs and "BPs as a bonus" 2) a trainer can battle the arena master again and again - so the maximum of BP is not 15, but 25 BP. 3) The term "regular battles" does not fit, because a battle with the arena master is regular, too. .. and some other points.

Steel Beam - Recoil damage

So about that - I think Steel Beam has all rights to be a Recoil-dealing move because Struggle (a Recoil dealing move) functions the same way - deals 1/4 (yeah, a bit less than 1/2, so what?) of user's maximum HP; Shadow Rush deals 1/16 of maximum HP. The dialogue on the Nest Ball doesn't work as a confirmation for sure, which is the reason why I specifically wrote "it is implied". It is an implication and nothing else.

Verdanturf Town is a small town, so it's hard to think the people from there would import them from somewhere else, and the fact they're the only ones who sell it in the entire region is quite telling, but since there isn't an actual confirmation, I opted to still mention this fact in some shape, because it certainly feels like there's an implication that they may have been created in Verdanturf Town.

If that's not good enough though, I'll accept it and move on. I'll await for your response before doing anything. I want to have your confirmation that I can put the information about the Net and Dive Balls back in their articles safely. I'd follow the example of the Repeat and Timer Balls' articles this time though, and have it mentioned at the top of the page.

As far as I can tell, there's nothing that outright states that Lance definitively lost his position as Champion. I'm also not the only person that's running on the assumption that Lance is still the Champion. Furthermore, I would argue that even being a former Champion is notable enough (given that Lance placed 2nd in the WCS behind Leon, he's clearly still Champion level). There is no actual proof that he ever lost his title to begin with (the Elite Four line is, in my opinion, dubious at best). I won't deny the possibility that it could have happened, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it did either.

Pokèmon Report

I can't understand how that would be better, I think it's certainly not. I think "See also" should pretty much point to related articles(/topics). And a "List of" another dex has nothing to do with the PKMN Report, and then even worse, it shouldn't be hidden under text that looks like it's an article that's actually called "Photodex", when it's not.

The "See also" section on the Pokémon Report article was created before Chosen moved the page to its current "List of" title while leaving a redirect. (Tbh, I always though Chosen would create a proper "Photodex" article within a few days, but that obviously hasn't happened.) As a compromise, I have removed it entirely (at least until a Photodex article is created).

(Also, you probably misunderstood, noone suggested to move the List of article back to just "Photodex".)

It's not a personal preference to use direct links over redirects, it's a general rule of thumb for the site. Unreleased Items

I don't want to continue edit waring on Newmoon Island, but you have to realise... if the BDSP Darkrai is Removed as an encounter location, it should be removed from the gen 4 Diamond/Pearl table too, as the item was never released, thus would be unobtainable. Futhermore Shaymin in Flower Paradise is not there in DP. Arceus in Hall of Origin should also be made unavailable in Gen 4 and TM95 shouldn't be available in Castelia City in Black/White, since they all require event items that were never released in the game yet all of these events are still programmed in their respecive games and strangely they are all listed in each of the respective pages, care to explain this discrepancy?4iamking (talk) 17:50, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

The Arceus Hall of Origin event isn't programmed into BDSP (it was removed from the game), but Newmoon Island/Darkrai event DOES exist in the game code and is fully functional, it requires the item in your bags to flag the event so you can do it, but this is exactly how it worked with the original generation 4 event too. Hi Gian, here's the thing, the way you put it, I had some writing problems. When you have doubts about how to write the event of an episode, you can take episodes in which similar situations occur and compare their writing.

For example, the sentence you wrote...

• Goh attempted to release Grooky but chooses Goh.

The correct way to place the text.

• Goh attempts to release Grookey, but Grookey returns to him.

You misspelled Grookey and forgot the comma in the sentence. Notice the difference in the two sentences?

Regarding your reverts

It was never my intention to create a "false image". My initial plan (and what I still think is the best solution) was simply to change "caught" to "obtained" since I thought it would be more accurate, but Franky7 insisted that "caught" should be used over "obtained" if they were caught (I don't know if that's actually some kind of rule, though), and there is at least precedence to make some type of distinction, as I note on the talk page.

Even if you say that the implication is based off of "given facts", the difference between this and Wallace/Alder is that it's been firmly established that there can only be one active Champion in a region at a time, hence how we know for sure that they lost their titles without it being directly stated. As for Lance, there technically isn't anything that establishes it being impossible for someone to be both Elite Four and Champion (honestly, Lance was basically an unofficial "Champion" in the Kanto games before the rival arrived).

I also still specifically kept the part about him being called an Elite Four member rather than a Champion, which I feel like should be neutral enough.

@Hikaru: I agree that Trace would be a possible way (the only way, in my opinion) of Lance potentially losing his title, but I honestly find it unlikely that Trace exists in the anime at all (and I kinda doubt that the Elite Four line was a reference to the Let's Go games). Even when he was the Champion, there was no indication that Will/Karen exist in the anime, nor did Koga ever become an Elite Four member. In fact, Agatha appeared after Lance! I'm still extremely doubtful on that. The whole thing with Kanto/Johto is still extremely murky even decades later, since it's the only League to be shared across two regions in the games, as well as the only League already established that did not have a proper Champion at the beginning of its first game. Even if Lance was established as Champion in his first appearance, the Elite Four in the anime was clearly based off the Kanto games (and Agatha appearing in Advanced Generation further highlights this). As I already stated, Lance's outfit and dialogue are also both based off of HGSS (a game that he was Champion in). There's nothing that explicitly references Let's Go.

The direct association with Johto isn't present, but his Champion title is 100% derived from the Johto games. My point is that the connection between Kanto and Johto in the games has affected the anime as well, even if they're not officially connected in the anime.

Everything that I just bolded from this particular part is purely assumptions from your end, yet you keep stating it as if it's proven fact. My point on Lance's outfit/dialogue (I'm using both as examples, not just dialogue) is that these are unambiguous references to HGSS. You're simply stating that he's being called an Elite Four member because of Let's Go, even though he was an Elite Four member in Gen I and FRLG prior to that.

Casey clearly had a competitive relationship with Ash in the Johto saga (moreso than Virgil, since Casey actually battled against Ash twice and also competed against him in the Bug-Catching Contest), with the final opening also making it seem like she would be one of Ash's rivals in the Silver Conference... and then she didn't appear during the League at all.

The same idea of "Why did the anime writers do this?" also applies to her as well, and it's basically the entire reason why she isn't listed as a rival at all.

While Virgil is not the exact same case (since he did compete in the League), the fact that he never battled Ash at all is grounds for at least contesting him being listed in the "Rivals" section.

I apologize for my vagueness. Please allow me to rephrase my discoveries. I notice that you usually alter my added links in ways like the following:

• Turning Sygna Suit May into Sygna Suit May.
• A while ago, replacing Steven & Metagross with Steven & Metagross.
• Recently, altering May & Blaziken into May & Blaziken.

In cases like these three, I prefer the leftmost links, but your actions imply that you prefer the rightmost links. Our preferences clash in the following content related to Pokémon Masters EX: characters pages (like Kukui) and that game's section in moves' pages (like Blaze Kick). I understand. But I also stand by those edits. The link should be to the individual Pokémon's article if possible. Blaziken is not such s case, because Bulbapedia has ruled that anime and game versions of a character are two different characters. Firstly, did you agree to the exercise that I've proposed earlier? Secondly, allow me to repeat or point of view. You're stating that Trainer pages, such as for May's Blaziken, should be separated from content connected to Pokémon Masters EX because Bulbapedia separates animé characters from their in-game counterparts. As for the section links, you're only making them consistent with other "[Playable] Users" sections in other move-related articles. Another Nemona Sprite?

Hey, since you helped upload a lot of the sprites for SV, I would really appreciate your assistance on this. I was looking through my old screenshots from when the game first released and found a new Nemona sprite, which if I remember correctly, only occurs in the final champion battle, if it's not your first attempt. In it she looks disappointed and has her arms crossed before throwing the ball, instead of having her right arm straight out and pointing the ball at the player. Although I couldn't find the original video it came from, but I did find another video with the same sprite, yet it's still unclear whether or not this was a second attempt at the battle. Here is an imgur link to the screenshots I took, and here is a link to the video I found. There are no Violet sprites for this since it appears to be uncommon that people take more than one attempt online. If you come across any other instances of this similar sprite, we should maybe upload it (once we can confirm that it is after 2+ attempts)--FrostyZippy (talk) 02:38, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
