Spontaneous Combusken

Hi, this is my User Talk page! I'm SpontaneousCombusken, although Combusken isn't my most favorite Pokémon... but it's an interesting username. Remember this episode? Anyways, hope you have a good time here!
Oh, and thanks to Jioruji Derako for this table-thing that everyone else uses.

  • Change [[Pokémon anime]] to {{g|anime}}
  • Fix spelling of "prominant" to "prominent."

Welcome to Bulbapedia, EspeonA!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. You will have to register separately for it, as well. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:EspeonA/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! -- Force Fire 00:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

please tell me you didnt just randomly guess Rattata and actually knew that.. -- MAGNEDETH 00:08, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

To tell the truth, I Googled the words. ^_^;; I didn't see in the rules that I couldn't, and the first thing that came up were the song, which was by Ratt. At first I didn't know how Ratt was related to any Pokémon, but then I remembered Rattata and posted it. --spontaneousCombusken 02:40, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
if someone didnt get it, my next hint was "google is your friend" so, thats fine. nice job. -- MAGNEDETH 03:20, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

...dude, seriously....? Never mind, don't answer that, it's not really that important... --ElectAbuzzzz 19:19, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

No idea what you're talking about, so I can't really give you a good answer. - spontaneousCombusken 03:57, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Just wanted to thank you for your help with linkery around the site. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 23:25, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome! ...I don't want to comment with just that, because it feels so short. I dunno what to write here, though. - s.Combusken 23:30, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, you made my life easier. ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 00:13, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Slow down on editing the User: namespace. Editing your userpage too much will lead to it being locked again. Instead of making ten small edits, why not instead use the preview button (Alt + Shift + P) to check your edits before saving the page. Thank you. --Porygon-Z 05:14, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't know you much, but do you have a Celebi or Ho-oh?--Diamaster 05:24, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, no legendaries except the ones from Sinnoh. And even then I don't have all of them yet. - s.Combusken 20:15, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

no offense but plz Listen 2 me

All u ppl do is criticize me. When I'm doing something u don't like, u ppl r there 2 tell me off. When I ask for HELP. It takes for EVER for someone 2 respond. Y is that?--Ahatake 21:02, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

First of all, it's against the rules to rapidly edit the Template:Code namespace. Try to limit yourself to three times per page per day. Violating the rules will obviously get you in trouble, and maybe even blocked. Secondly, asking for help on your own talk page is not going to get answers anytime soon, since nobody gets a notice. If you ask for help on other people's talk pages, namely sysops or senior members, then they'll get a notice and will be there to assist you when they can. Finally, it would be better to understand you if you use proper English, meaning spell correctly, use correct grammar and punctuation, etc. - s.Combusken 21:06, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

title speaks--Ahatake 19:40, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

2 questions....

1) who owns this site? 2)How do u get a charatcer info box? plz answer --Ahatake 20:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

1.) Apparently, Archaic is the head of Bulbagarden right now, so it should be him.
2.) Copied it from Kenny's page.
3.) Like I said, it would be easier to understand if you used correct spelling and such.
4.) I think you should try making more edits to the main namespace instead of your user page.
5.) - s.Combusken 20:05, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
I don't know if you'd call Archaic either the owner or the head of Bulbapedia... but he is the founder, at least. -Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 02:41, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

are you

gonna make a synopsis for DP 85? Happizelpom 21:18, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Happizelpom

I don't write synopses, I only fix the ones that need some redos. - s.Combusken 21:20, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

is anybody gonna make one then? whos the person who maked synopsis' for the other episodes? Happizelpom 21:45, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Happizelpom

Why can't you make one, instead of complaining because no one else is. MoldyOrange 22:27, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

do i look like someone who understands japanese? Happi440zel418pom190

Gym leader infobox

The "badge" field of the {{CharacterInfobox}} template (when the "leader" field is set to "yes") automatically links to the appropriate section of the Badge article, just like the {{badge}} template does. So there's no need to use the template in the infobox. I just thought I'd point that out to you. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 21:47, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I thought that since the "type" field had to be manually linked, the "badge" field had to be like that too. - s.Combusken 21:49, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah... I don't get it, either. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 22:00, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

This is your second warning. Please refrain from editing the User: namespace too rapidly, or you will lose privileges. --Porygon-Z 04:36, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

I think I'm innocent this time, since your userpage says to limit myself to three edits per day, and I've made no more than that. - s.Combusken 04:40, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Ah, you're right. While skimming through your edits, I saw some User Talk ones, which at a glance look like User ones. My apologies. Porygon-Z 04:44, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Ash's temp Hoothoot

Neither did Gary, but we include it on his page, don't we?--KukiTalk 00:23, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Eh, I guess so. I saw a talk page where there were debates about putting Ponyta/Rapidash on that section because Ash borrowed it in The Flame Pokémon-athon, but a sysop (I forget which) said that he didn't battle with it or catch it himself, so it wasn't needed. =/ - s.Combusken 00:34, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Well he was just a figurehead for Lara, so I'd understand that--KukiTalk 00:36, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for the welcome. I'll use the rules for editing you suggested. Thank you.

About Adaptability

I know it's an encyclopaedia, so surely the more information the better? I merely added a few facts about Adaptability, so if someone looked up adaptability they might think "Oh, that's handy" and be better off because of it. What negative could possibly come from what I wrote? I thought in an encyclopaedia, the more information the better, as long as its correct (and that was correct information). How can extra, true information be so bad as to delete it? What good will come from that?

And, I would have thought we'd WANT people to have a reason to come here. People can see Adaptability and the Pokemon that learn it on 50 other sites on the internet, including the most popular ones. So wouldn't you rather give reasons for people to come HERE? Anyone can see Adaptability's effect on any established Pokemon site, but not many sites also give useful hints about how it can be used.
