User tag suggestion

Hey ElectAbuzzzz, I dunno if you're the right person to ask, but I made this user tag because I couldn't dind one in the Template: space. I was wondering if you think it would be good enough for the mainspace (I was quite surprised when I foiund out that there wasn't alreay one: {{User:Silver Eevee/User Pokerus}}

According to our usertag policy, five users must first be using the template, and two admins need to approve it. You can count me as one admin, now you just need to wait for 4 users and another admin. I can't mainspace it before that. --electAbuzzzz 09:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Template

Hey I made a template Called User:BrokenMotor/User Curse in the userspace and I found out that there is one just like it and since I don't have the power to delete things I was hoping you could. BrokenMotor 19:40, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Taken care of. —darklordtrom 02:12, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

FAC Guidelines

Under the new requirements, is any FAC that is currently nominated but has an incomplete template unable to become an FA, or disqualified?--Smartkidhen (So I saw this sign that said Red VelvetTeam Galatic has plans!) 13:56, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes, Meowth. I'm taking care of it. --electAbuzzzz 14:01, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Lyrics to If We Only Learn

Hey, I got a source to the lyrics. I know CN cut off the song with commercials, but I recorded it straight off my TV and got the whole song. More on the talk page... also, is that the actual title of the song, "If We Only Learn" I'm not sure if that's right. Vhayes1992 19:46, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

That's awesome about the lyrics, thanks. As for the naming - no, I'm not 100% sure. I took the name off an interview that PIRN did with the artist - it's easily found on Youtube. That's not 100% reliable, but that's what we're using unless someone can prove differently by showing me the credits. --electAbuzzzz 22:28, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Welcoming users question

Hey Buzz, just wondering if non-administrator users can use the "welcome" template on a new user's talk page, as sometimes I seem to be the only one online when a new users sign up. Okay, thanks. Silver Eevee talk? contribs! 06:42, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes you can.--ForceFire 06:44, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Uh sorry

I've been busy with school at first, then I completely forgot. I'll try to do something this week and ask my friend Daru for help. He's much more into the Polish Pokémon dubbing than me. Be patient. I'll try to remember. --Maxim 17:07, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Can you plz delete these subpages?

I'm cleaning up my messy userspace a bit:

Question about manga changes

Hi there... I was wondering if you could give a little more detail about the staff discussion that lead to the change from SPECIAL to Adventures, PPP to MPJ, switched Blue and Green, etc.. Was it only related to those specific issues, or more generally to the use of English names on the English project?
Despite the timing, I’m less interested in the argument caused by my recent rash and unfortunate actions( although it would disingenuous to suggest that I haven’t considered the relationship between that and my question) and more curious about the use of in-article terminology. Specifically, I’m wondering about the use in prose, headers, and article titles of the term “Round” for the smaller subdivisions of PA Chapters. It makes sense in Japanese where most of them are named “VS[Pokémon]”, but those are not the names in the Viz translations, nor( most of) the Chuang Yi volumes. Accordingly, CY and the Viz 1st editions call them Chapters( which admittedly could be confusing), while the Viz reprints call them Adventures. I don’t think it makes sense to keep calling them rounds, especially in light of the shift towards English.
Is there any opinion or consensus from the aforementioned discussion that would have a bearing on that? I intend to bring it up in the Project discussion soon but I would like to know the hard facts about the staff’s recent decision going in. I’m asking you specifically because you gave the most helpful answer to my question there about the reasons for the sudden policy reversal. Thanks! --LaprasBoi 13:57, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Well, that's a good question... But I'll have to discuss it with CoolPikachu and our Editorial Board. Generally - yes, we're an English wiki, and we prefer English names, with the sole exception of epicodes (PS001 will not be changes to PA001. And yes, there's a reason for that, but I won't go into it now). We can't use chapters, because the story arcs are referred to as chapters in Adventures. We for ADVENTURE 001... Well, a lot of manga series use names like that for their chapters (I can think of Mezase!! Card Master and Pocket Monsters Platinum: Aim to Be Battle King!! which use "BATTLE 1", Pokémon Get da ze! which uses "GET 1"). We still prefer chapters for consistency, but again, we can't use chapters in Adventures. I'll talk to the others about it. --electAbuzzzz 14:10, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Though I don’t understand the reasoning,I don’t really care about epicode format too much, more about full-word terminology used in article names and text. Please let me know how the discussion goes. --LaprasBoi 15:34, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Aerodactyl pic

Is the Aerodactyl pic at Gary Oak enough good quality or should someone replace it? --FinnishPokéFan92 19:32, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

It's alright, I suppose, although a better resolution would be better. --electAbuzzzz 19:47, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

List of Pokémon by anime debut

Hi, I noticed you replaced my list of Pokémon with a redirect. I hadn't seen the page List of Pokémon by anime debut, as it wasn't linked from List of Pokémon, but I have added it there now. However there are a couple of sortability problems with this page, as:

  • Page is split into sections so is not globally sortable.
  • Page does not place movies in their proper place within the order.
  • "AG" episodes will always be placed before "EP", when actually it was the other way around, etc.

I was trying to create a page which would be globally sortable, regardless of the generation or media type. Should such a list be on a separate page or the same page? Kidburla 19:09, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Globally sortable is a good thing, as is an EP-AG-DP sortability list... What we'd have to do to make AG go first would be to comment out its EP epicode (for example, AG001 is EP275, DP001 is EP467). And that's a pain. TTEchidna 20:10, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Other than the fact that Snover debuted in PK19 and Abomasnow and Frosslass debuted in PK20, and so on. MaverickNate 20:15, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't know if we have the right settings to do this on our wiki, but this might be useful. —darklordtrom 23:15, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
It works, we have several sortable tables and I myself made the list of games by release date sortable... you can add an invisible span thingy to make things sort the way you want... That is how the evolution column works over at Wikipedia’s full List of Pokemon. I would suggest using a text editor to insert them with replace all. I can do the basic work very quickly and easily... inserting the movies may be trickier though. I’ll show you what I have in mind as a first step when I get back from breakfast. --LaprasBoi 15:34, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
{{Sort}}. There. I created it and it works. Feel free to use it. First parameter is the sort key, second one is the link (leave it blank if it's the same as 1), third is if you don't want a link but regular text. --electAbuzzzz 16:19, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Excellent... I just did the sorting QND for now, but I may try to implement the template in the next few weeks if no one else does. --LaprasBoi 19:47, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Template:P

There are some suggestions on the talk page from another user and from me, good ideas that we cannot implement, since link templates are protected. --LaprasBoi 19:47, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Editing the P template is something we do only if there's a very good reason to, because it gives a server a LOT of work to do. Alttext already exists, as you can see here. Section linking... I don't see why that's necessary. We hardly ever link to sections on Pokémon pages, so we can do it manually on the rare cases we need it. --electAbuzzzz 20:09, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

May's Hebrew name

Someone put a Hebrew name in May's article. Is it authentic? I think you could know as you're from Israel, aren't you? Also, I just returned home. I think I have some time to work on "Pokémon in Poland" article this week. --Maxim 15:53, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Pokémon templates

I think that the new templates you have made are really good. I also decided to try and did the same to Dawn's template. However, some pics are still msiing. Could you help? --FinnishPokéFan92 15:58, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh, sorry... --FinnishPokéFan92 15:58, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Pokémon in France

Hey 'buzzzz, happy new year! Anyways, I've been working on this for the past couple of days. Has it reached mainspaceability yet? :P --ZestyCactus 06:39, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

I could just hug now. Great work. If you're looking for another one to do, I really want the Germany article done. --electAbuzzzz 08:45, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Pokémon in Germany. I hope it was okay to mainspace it by myself :X --ZestyCactus 01:25, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Brainwave

I just thought of an idea for a Pokédex template.

I'm thinking it'd go down as {{pokedex}} but there's already some kind of text there, so I don't know if I should overwrite it... anyways, the code would be [[List of Pokémon by {{{1|}}} Pokédex number|{{{1|}}} Pokédex]], and you just put the parameter in as National, Johto, New, Hoenn, or Sinnoh, and it'll save on some bytes. What do you think? I'd be happy to do all the laborious work, too. --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 15:16, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, I deleted {{pokedex}} because it was only used by a user who hasn't been active in nearly 3 years. Thing is, we're not entirely sure whether or not we really need that link template you suggested. I mean, how often do we use such links? --electAbuzzzz 21:37, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
They're on pretty much all the number disambigs, and that was really where the idea came from. I dunno, I just thought it was worth a shot. --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 22:02, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
