for starts, you must ask yourself, "is my favorite pokemon useful in a battle?" now, for me, Magnemite is my favorite, but he is not useful, but his evolutions are. you seem to like Charizard, so start there. Charizard is good. now, my method of making a team is to have no two pokemon with the same type, though, ive made exceptions. pokemon and went and I thought it would be a water or rock gym but it was grass so my charmander easily beat it out.

Then when I left I saw Ash going in the other direction
