Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Cadellin!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! Moldy128Orange 12:20, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Please

Spell Pokémon with an é instead of just an e, because some of the admins get really ticked if you don't but I was able to catch it...this time. But otherwise, good job on the page, just don't forget to categorize as well. Thanks! MoldyOrange 17:55, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Titling

In that case, the title should be In-Game Data, not In-game data... ht14 19:52, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Capitalization

Take care in capitalizing specific items, like Poké. ht14 02:10, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Link Templates

Please use link templates when linking to stuff such as Pokémon names, attacks, and the like. For example, {{p|Ho-Oh}} instead of just [[Ho-Oh]]. This is so you don't unintentionally link to a disambiguation page.

For a full crash course on link templates, look at the list of link templates. --Shiningpikablu252 21:42, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Quality

Is it also possible for you to get those screenshots in a better game-like quality like the others? tc26 10:51, 29 October 2008 (UTC) Please reply on my talk page. tc26 13:14, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Just browsing around. While you're doing the map pics, can you write down what the map says on the info page? If you don't understand, speak up. ht14 01:07, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Project Locations

Heya, Cadellin. First, just letting you know that the Project Locations has changed quite a bit recently due to the instructions of the new Project Leader, me. The project has been updated and visually redesigned to make it easier to process. Little tasks and goals have been added to project page to make things run better and to help expand location articles. If you have any suggestions, inquiries, or questions, please don't hesitate to ask on the talk page.--Clarky13 11:48, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Maps

Yeah your maps are very cool! I talked with Filb about that and he also liked them, but he said they would be more useful if also the colors were more exact. (Example: http://www.pokewiki.de/Datei:Route_207.jpg <> http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Route_207.png) [Greets, mewX (TALK)] 15:21, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I think the colors are correct. Well, at least they are in Photoshop. The problem likely lies in how Web Browsers handle ICC Color Profiles in images. IE and Chrome don't support them, Firefox supports only up to v2.0 (not v3.0) and only in JPEGs (not PNGs). I don't know whether Opera or Safari support them. Basically, they need to be resaved without color profiles. I might try doing that, if I get a chance. If anyone else wants to, but doesn't know how to, I can help, but you will need Photoshop. Without proper support for these color profiles, the colors in some images will be off. BTW, great maps, Cadellin. I actually just joined Bulbapedia so I could help make more high-quality maps like yours, to replace some of the worse ones. Keep up the great work! Nuck Chorris 22:51, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
One thing I will note, however, is that your image for the landmark sign (such as that outside the Valley Windworks), seems to be inaccurate. Yours has one line of scribbles, while the correct one has TWO. Not a big deal, though, really. Nuck Chorris 03:37, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Also, you've replaced all the route signs in Gen IV with Wooden Signs? You did the Windmills, you do a bunch of the 3D buildings, but you can't do the double-arrow signpost? I can get the image if you can't. Oh, and I'm almost done with a new Eterna Forest map, based on pieces I extracted from your newer maps, since the old Eterna forest map was really low quality, and I believe all maps should be 1:1 scale. I'll post it tonight or tommorow. Nuck Chorris 06:06, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey :) I started putting your maps together in photoshop... Maybe you can use it ;) Just wanted to share...: http://rapidshare.com/files/267061223/sinnoh_map_full.png.html (5MB png at full res)[Greets, mewX (TALK)] 20:34, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Ah your doing it with RPG Maker? ... still I think the colors aren't correct ;) [Greets, mewX (TALK)] 12:49, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I tried increasing the saturation in photoshop but still it looked..differnet :) [Greets, mewX (TALK)] 12:55, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Tiles?

I think you might be able to get more people willing to make maps, especially in Gen IV, if you shared the tiles you have made, so other people would not have to scrounge around for the tiles they need or else remake them. This would also result in a more even style to the maps, rather than a mix of maps like yours and a bunch of extremely low quality maps, such as Route 210 (which I'm doing right now). What do you think, Cadellin? It shouldn't be too hard to share them, since you could probably stick them all in a PNG and upload it to Bulbapedia or something, so I assume the only issue should be whether you are willing to share them. Nuck Chorris(talk) 22:09, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

I know I might be a bit lazy for asking this, but its also since I try to keep things standardized, do you have any tiles for waterfalls? The one on route 210 is being a pain, especially because I need some special tiles for the extremely sudden drop-off. I can get you 3D models extracted in high-quality if you want, in return. Nuck Chorris(talk) 06:38, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
If you wouldn't mind... could you post on his talk page rather than his personal user page? Cheers. —darklordtrom 22:08, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Cadellin!
Smogon is running a new project aimed at enhancing in-game competitive play. Your maps are great, and we were wondering if we could please use them? We would credit you where used, of course! We're considering using it as part of an interacive map project to assist wi-fi battlers and other in-game players to specifically locate items that are useful to them. Thank you very much for considering our request and we really hope you agree! ^_^ Would you prefer we linked to your deviantART, by the way?

Maps

I just use MS Paint to recolour them and then Animation Shop 3 to animate them. -Teeth

  • Oh, the maps I did of Route 29 and Viridian Gym etc aren't animated. It's the Pokegear Map pictures that are animated. :p And yes, doing it in Paint is very time consuming, but it lets you be precise. :D Teeth
