Hey, I have made two pages with my username. They are named User:Seabiscuit2020/Sandbox/Aura trio (Adventures) and User:Seabiscuit2020/Sandbox/Light trio (Adventures) Feel free to edit them. Seabiscuit2020 (talk) 06:49 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Adding transfer-only moves to Pokedex pages

I don't know if I can word this better myself, so I'm going to quote Nescientist.

Sumwun and I believe that, for the moves, an additional section "By transfer from an earlier generation" would be sensible. (Please refer to User talk:Force Fire#Transfer-only moves and ability changes.) The addition of this subsection would enable users to tell what moves <species> can know (in <game/generation>) at one glance.
It's very well possible even Tiddlywinks is underestimating how difficult it is to answer the "know in <game/generation>" question (as much as I initially did). As Sumwun said at the referenced talk page, currently, you'd have to click at least up to 6 links to learnset pages, assuming you already know by heart how transfer works (and that you can't transfer Pokémon from GO by any means, which is what I actually doublechecked). And additionally, you might have to actually neglect irrelevant sections on learnset pages (for example, in USUM/GenVII, Bulbasaur cannot know AncientPower AFAIK). (If there's a faster method, I'd like to hear it.)
And I can't stress how important I think that question is, for I believe it is the central question to that species and learnset pages should be providing an answer to (the use case). It all boils down to that use case: in Tiddlywinks' words, what's the "concern" species/learnset pages try to address? I can't sketch a question/use case that would include "By events" but not "By transfer from a prior generation". (Well, for USUM, I can sketch the question "What moves can <species> with black clover know?", but that's arguably a "special" case, and probably comp-centric*.) I would like to know what you guys think that use case should be.
Regarding Tiddlywinks' comment about this coming from a "specific focus like comp/challenges", I took some time to think about that. Apart from the fact that I don't think the use case is comp-centric even, it is also not subjective, but purely factual, unlike the questions you said "we're never going to do" (and, by the way, I agree we shouldn't). For example, I recall that I once designed a team for my next playthrough, and I was searching possible moves for them. From context, I can recreate it must've been for XY before ORAS came out, because I wanted my Swinub to have a good Special Ground-type STAB and ended up breeding it in an earlier generation so I could teach it Earth Power via move tutor, then transfered (and traded) it to the new save file. I don't think that I ever was, in any point in time, trying to answer a question where I required all current subsections but not "By transfer from a prior generation".
I would like to know what you guys think that use case should be, and whether you think the suggestion subsection is sensible.

Harrychips8

Can something be done about Harrychips8 please, he is making pointless edits to pages like SM099, SM100 that we have to undo--BigDocFan (talk) 22:49, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

M21

It's mentioned at around 18:41 by the catch race announcer. --Abcboy (talk) 20:33, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

Oranguru's Place

Was wondering if you've heard anything back about User:BigDocFan/Oranguru's Place and how User:BigDocFan/Gladion's Umbreon and User:05308/Gladion's_Lycanroc are towards being mainspaced?--BigDocFan (talk) 20:38, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

Disney XD India

So Disney XD India completed S09 in 16th Nov 2018 and S10 in 20th Nov 2018. For unknown reasons, they skipped the last episode of AG series AG192. Can you update SA article with this? Thanks in advance! --Yash Sen 12:47, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Ultra Guardians Base

I created my own page for the Ultra Guardians Base and asked Blazingfist for comment, which he said I think it looks good for the most part. It could use a few more images I think but those can be added later. Perhaps most of it could fit on the Pokémon School article, but I wouldn't be opposed to it having its own page either. Feel free to ask a second opinion to abcboy though. What do you think?--BigDocFan (talk) 22:08, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Zeraora

Can you expand the history section of the Zeraora (M21) page? Seabiscuit2020 (talk) 00:03, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

M11 on Hungama

So Hungama TV is releasing M11 for the first time in India as Giratina Aur Ek Mahaa Yodhha. See the promo here. It seems like Hungama will keep releasing new movies of Pokémon in India while Disney XD will keep releasing new seasons, series and episodes. Can you update SA page with this? --Yash Sen 15:00, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

So the movie was aired today. It was English dub this time just like M10 and this time unlike before opening and ending themes of the movie were aired. They used an instrumental version of This is a Beautiful World as the ending of M11. Can you update SA page with this? --Yash Sen 06:40, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

Updated templates for LGPE

I wrote some code for existing templates, Template:Stats and Template:Pokémon/7 to be updated for LGPE, and left the test results on their respective Discussion pages. They're designed to use an optional field so pages that already have them won't be affected unless the field is included and set accordingly. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Question

What should I need to do if I want to create a new page? What conditions that I need? Like another wiki? Thanks.Thunderpikachu (talk) 14:35, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Pokémon XY: Road to Kalos

Hi. Road to Kalos is a special episode aired one week before XY001. It takes place on the plane Ash takes to Kalos and contains original scenes, as well as clips from previous series and a preview for the beginning of the XY series. It is mentioned on V (Volt)'s article. It even has a page on MyAnimeList. Should an article for this special episode be created? Thanks. --RafaelGN (talk) 22:47, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

I think that would be good. Since it sounds like a clip show, I think Road to Kalos would work as a title. --Abcboy (talk) 19:50, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

SSB Reception secton

Hi. Should the Smash Bros. games' articles have the Reception section? I noticed that none of them has. I'd like to add it if they should. Thanks. --RafaelGN (talk) 22:47, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

Feel free to add them. --Abcboy (talk) 19:50, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

©2005-"2016"!

Sorry I missed this out here in Bulbapedia before, but the ending credits of S08, S09 and S10 which aired on Disney XD India had different copyright years credited in the credits. They have the copyright years credited as ©2004-2016, ©2005-2016 and ©2006-2016 in the ending credits of S08, S09 and S10 respectively which is different from the US version. This indicates that Disney India have rights for all seasons in Pokémon up till XYZ (S19). They have also credited in it as "TM and ® are trademarks of Nintendo for Asian territories." which is again different from the US version. Is this notable enough for its inclusion in the SA page? --Yash Sen 15:35, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

All this says is that the dubs were made around 2016, I don't think think that really says much about the seasons through S19. The trademark line being different is also not surprising since TPCi doesn't have a presence in Asia including India. I don't think this reveals anything that isn't stated or implied by the rest of the page. --Abcboy (talk) 19:50, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
I think that all this implies that when the anime was licensed for airing in India, they simply updated the copyright and extended it up till 2016, or that was the year when the (re)licensing happened. It shouldn't necessarily be when the seasons were dubbed. Also, about the Asian territories line , it simply may have been added because these videos should be used in Asian countries only. → PikaTepig999 06:24, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
I would imagine they had re-typed the credits in 2016. --Abcboy (talk) 01:47, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

Pokémon movies on Indian cinemas

M20 and Detective Pikachu are releasing in Indian cinemas on Feb 2, 2019 and May 10, 2019 respectively. This is the first time Pokémon movies are releasing in Indian theaters. Can you update SA page with this? Thanks in advance! --Yash Sen 15:56, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Detective Pikachu was expected to be released on the big screen, as it's not an anime movie, but rather a live action one and distributed by a large company like Warner Bros. May 10 is the worldwide release date for Detective Pikachu, after all. But it's nice to see that I Choose You will be getting a limited release as well. If the date is correct and it is releasing on February 2, then it will be the first time a Pokemon anime movie is releasing in theaters. Though, that page is only showing it as being released in English, so maybe we'll have to wait till it airs on television for the regional dubs. → PikaTepig999 06:36, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
That site shows the language of all the upcoming English movies which are yet to be released in India as English only even after they are released in Hindi and other regional languages too. So that doesn't mean that those will be released in English only in cinemas. --Yash Sen 07:12, 1 January 2019 (UTC) Edited 07:51, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
By what I can see, that page is only showing the original language of the movie in the header, and the other dubs during ticketing process. So we may have to wait a little more to find out if the movie is gonna be dubbed. → PikaTepig999 19:30, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
It's been added, please keep me up-to-date on whether or not it'll be shown dubbed. --Abcboy (talk) 01:47, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
It doesn't seem to have been released on 2nd Feb, and now the page shows its release date as to be decided. → PikaTepig999 15:27, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

List of Pokemon by availability

Why does C have priority over R? sumwun (talk) 02:17, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

In general, the entries higher up on the key have higher priority than lower ones. For C and R in particular, catching is also the least restrained method of obtaining them, whereas a received Pokémon generally has a fixed level, moveset, and Poké Ball, for example. R should be treated as though "The Pokémon cannot be caught in-game, but..." is implied. --Abcboy (talk) 11:49, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
In that case, why are DPPt Eevee and Pt Porygon listed as R when they can be caught in the Trophy Garden? sumwun (talk) 17:28, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Some updates for SA page

AG192 is set to air on Disney XD India on 18th January 2019. Also for unknown reasons, the release date for M20 in India is postponed although it's confirmed that it will release on Indian cinemas this year only. Can you make these following updates? --Yash Sen 19:21, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

Also, Disney XD India is officially confirmed to be re-branded as Marvel HQ starting from tomorrow 20 Jan 2019 which will continue to air Pokémon. Here is it's logo. Can you add this update as well along with the logo? --Yash Sen 15:29, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

The Avail templates

Can you add these 2 options to the Avail templates?

Symbol Meaning
TC The Pokémon can be caught in-game after somehow interacting with another game.
TE The Pokémon cannot be caught in-game, but an earlier evolutionary stage can be obtained. It can be evolved into the Pokémon in this game by trading.

Examples for the first row include DPPt Spiritomb and Regigigas and ORAS Giratina. Examples for the second row include RBY Golem and GSC Politoed. I think it's important to distinguish these Pokemon from regular C Pokemon and E Pokemon. sumwun (talk) 16:27, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

I don't think the distinction is important enough to note with there being only a few cases where it's needed. Already there are cases where you can only choose one of a Pokémon (like the starters) that I don't think it's worth going into that much detail for. --Abcboy (talk) 18:26, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
I think there are a lot of players who can't trade, and this distinction is important for them. Are there any downsides to adding these options? (and adding a separate option for Pokemon that you can receive only if you don't receive another Pokemon is a real possibility. are there any downsides to that?) sumwun (talk) 16:47, 3 February 2019 (UTC)

Cheese Tacos

Cheese Tacos keeps adding Charizard using moves as a major event to SM107's page and they also added speculative major events to SM108's page. - unsigned comment from Playerking95 (talkcontribs)

He has continued to do so, even listing events for future episodes that are unlikely to happen--BigDocFan (talk) 22:32, 3 February 2019 (UTC)

Kiawe's Charizard

Considering the recent episode and general talk about the page, do you think it would be possible to mainspace User:Playerking95/Kiawe's Poké Ride Charizard? - unsigned comment from Rahl (talkcontribs)

The staff are discussing it. --Abcboy (talk) 18:23, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

SM107

Should Kiawe's Poké Ride Charizard's moves be listed in the major events section? Playerking95 (talk) 03:26, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

Once/if it gets its own page, then would belong there. --Abcboy (talk) 18:23, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Mallow (anime)

Shouldn't the Shaymin Mallow is holding be in an unofficial section on her page like Ash's Larvitar and such, seeing as she's taking care of it until it flies off? It's even with her in the ending. Playerking95 (talk) 16:09, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Wait until it appears next episode, and has a section on the recurring wild Pokémon page or its own page. --Abcboy (talk) 18:23, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Optimizing Images for Maps

Do you have a special way of compressing hi-def map images so they can be uploaded here? We recently have gotten a bunch of maps for SM/USUM done, but we need a method of compressing and resizing them to fit the file size limit. Thanks! TehPerson (talk) 02:52, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

I recommend using PNGGauntlet for compressing them. The Archives dimension limit is strictly 12.5 MP (12,500,000 pixels) so I would resize them to make sure the dimensions (width times height) is less than that before you compress them further. --Abcboy (talk) 02:03, 16 February 2019 (UTC)

Potential Mainspace articles.

Hi Abcboy, I have several articles that I am hoping can are notable enough to be mainspaced. After asking ForceFire, they said these ones would need a second opinion.

User:PardescanSlowbro/Luka's great-grandfather
User:PardescanSlowbro/News Crew (M03)
User:PardescanSlowbro/Misty Village
User:PardescanSlowbro/Mountain Lighthouse
User:PardescanSlowbro/Unnamed Island (EP060)

PardescanSlowbro (talk) 06:38, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

Luka's great-grandfather should be fine.
Leaning towards no for the news crew since they don't have names; if they had names in say the Japanese credits instead of just "REPORTER" and "CAMERA MAN" as in the English CCs, then it would be fine. Same idea for the island from EP060.
Misty Village should be good, the lighthouse depends on whether it's in the village or not; if it's inside or directly adjacent to it, then it should just be on the village's page. --Abcboy (talk) 02:03, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
I'm not sure about if the news crew were actually given names in the Japanese credits, and will have to find someone to look that up on my behalf.
I'll also combine the Misty Village and Mountain Lighthouse pages into one called "Misty Village", given that the Mountain Lighthouse lies close to the township itself.
With the unnamed island page, I thought that given that we have other unnamed island and forest pages for the Decolore Archipelago, and it was featured prominently in its respective episode that it was worth a page, but I'll not push for it to be mainspaced.
I'll message ForceFire regarding Luka's great-grandfather once I've finished editing the Misty Village article to have them mainspaced. Thanks for the reply.PardescanSlowbro (talk) 04:26, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
Last summer, I suggested some articles for mainspacing too, but nothing at all has come of them yet. Do you think these pages could be mainspaced?
User:FinnishPokéFan92/Tide Song Hotel
User:FinnishPokéFan92/Kantonian Gym
Please. I've waited with this subject for way too long already.
PS. Ignore the "under construction" parts. I probably just forgot to remove those when I last edited the pages. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 11:15, 16 February 2019 (UTC)

Pokemon voices

Something has come to my intention with some of the voices of some Pokemon. With Pokemon such as Mudsdale, who clearly don't have a voice actor, seeing as its cry comes from real horses, or horse-like sounds, should we list them as not having a voice actor? Because where their voices are meant to be listed, it seems like an empty space waiting to be added, but they might never be revealed, seeing as they might not have ever been voiced by anyone. Just a thought. Playerking95 (talk) 13:12, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Pokémon who are clearly not voiced by humans like Groudon (M06) should have N/A in the VA box. --Abcboy (talk) 15:40, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Emmakazam22

Could you undo Emmakazam22's edit to SM110, listing Jessie and Meowth as narrating the title, which isn't right, seeing as this isn't how it has been listed on other pages. Meowth and Jessie only talk about the next episode and its title and Emmakazam22 added that even though I undid someone else who added Meowth to the list. I put something else on that users talk page a couple of weeks ago, and they haven't responded, so I don't think the user it listening to other people. Editorial Board?

In November 2017, User:Pumpkinking0192 undid my edit to the Villainous teams article which removed an inactive move proposal template that had been added there on March 18th of that year. He explained that only the Editorial Board could remove it and advised patience. Fair enough. However, over a year has passed since then and I see the move proposal template is still on the Villainous teams article with no indication that any action will be taken towards a move or the removal of the template. In less than three weeks, the template will have been on that article for two years. Is there any way to grease the gears of this bureaucracy, or is this a typical wait time?
To be clear, I have no preference one way or the other regarding the title of the Villainous teams article, but it bothers me that the template can stay up for so long and no one who has the power to resolve it does anything, while I am willing to remove the template right now yet lack the necessary permission to do so. Croaker (talk) 22:41, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

As of late, the wait time has been pretty long; can't make any guarantees about when the board as a whole can make said decision unfortunately. --Abcboy (talk) 02:34, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

Template wikicode question

I am writing a sandboxed version of the {{alldex}} row template for use on a draft article (User:Force Fire/List of Pokémon that appear in multiple regional Pokédex) that is currently nominated for mainspacing. I want this sandboxed version to take into account whether a non-numeric input (like --- or ???) is fed to any of its parameters.

On the current version in templatespace, whenever a non-numeric input is fed to the s= parameter, as in the following example:

{{alldexh|1}}
{{alldex|1|084|j=204|oj=199|h=095|oh=092|s=---|u2dex=---|kdex=094|kr=Central|adex=---|Doduo|2|Normal|Flying}}

I get the following error message:

This is because of the following numeric comparison statement being executed by the template to determine whether or not to append Pt to the Sdex number:

{{#ifexpr: {{{s|001}}} > 151|{{Sup/4|Pt}}}}

The comparison {{{s|001}}} > 151 crashes whenever s= is non-numeric. So, I want to modify my sandboxed copy of {{alldex}} to not execute the numeric comparison above unless the input is purely numeric.

I want to ask if there is a wikicode command (like {{#ifnum: {{{in|def}}}|out}} or similar) that I can use in my template to check whether the input is a number (positive, negative, etc.) and execute the output only upon meeting that numeric constraint. That way, I could have my template do this without crashing or returning error messages:

{{#ifnum: {{{s|001}}}|{{#ifexpr: {{{s|001}}} > 151|{{Sup/4|Pt}}}}}}

I could also use such a construct to tell the template to supress any {{tt|*|}} tooltips for non-numeric inputs (like ---, used to express that a Pokémon is not in that regional Pokédex), so that for the example above I get something like this:

Ndex Kdex Jdex Hdex Sdex Udex Kdex Adex Gdex LAdex Pdex Kdex Art Pokémon Type
#084 #084 #204* #095* #--- #--- #094* #--- 084 Doduo Normal Flying

Any help on this? Thankee! ‑‑SilSinn (TIDs768426S123446UM💬 22:57, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

P.S. I also asked this to Pokemaster97, but because he rarely answers questions (as evidenced by his talk page) and his last contribution dates back to 3 November 2018, I also chose to ask someone more active like you.

I would recommend just changing the default display from 001 to --- so that the parameter can just be excluded as you've already done. The function you're looking for is probably #iferror but I don't think it's necessary for your purposes. --Abcboy (talk) 03:01, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, I initially had that in mind when I first made this: {{User:SilSinn9801/alldex}}. But I think ForceFire would still prefer 001 as fallback value (as in the current templatespace version) so as to be somewhat compatible with the current version. It might be a good idea for staff to choose/debate/decide whether they would prefer to keep 001 as fallback (like Force Fire) or change it to --- as default (like my sandbox version) for the next update to alldex (which should happen whenever Pokémon Sword and Shield get released), and especially if at the same time that draft article by Force Fire is finally approved for mainspacing (if that ever happens). ‑‑SilSinn (TIDs768426S123446UM💬 05:09, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

ForceFire updated the template, so now there is no need to manually type those --- values onto its call. But still there are a few quirks that need to be solved. Like this example:
{{alldexh|1}}
{{alldex|1|084|j=204|oj=199|h=095|oh=092|kdex=094|kr=Central|Doduo|2|Normal|Flying}}
|}
Ndex Kdex Jdex Hdex Sdex Udex Kdex Adex Gdex LAdex Pdex Kdex Art Pokémon Type
#084 #--- #204* #095* #--- #--- #094* #--- #--- #--- #--- #--- Doduo Doduo Normal Flying
See those Sups accompanying those output --- values? They should not be there if those Dex values are left undefined. My sandboxed copy of the template takes care of that by checking whether such parameters were supplied by the user before printing any Sups, and it also checks whether a pair of old/new Udex (or Adex) values are equal (or not) before printing any tooltips. But I cannot incorporate such measures to the official template because Force Fire protected it (it was unprotected and being transcluded only onto two articles and this talk page, so how could it suddenly become a high-traffic page?), so I was asking if either you or Force Fire could take a look into this and either update the template with code from my sandboxed copy (or replace the template with my sandboxed version by moving my page over the official one, whichever path is more comfortable to you). My modified template is robust enough (and debugged enough) to be deployed into articles. Thankee! ‑‑SilSinn (TIDs768426S123446UM💬 14:04, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Jessie's actor name

I've gotten access to the newest dub episode, but I can't make out what's Jessie's fake actress name. Could you add it to the episode article? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:08, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

Spelling unconfirmed, sounded to me like Jessipurchair. Probably not spelt like that--BigDocFan (talk) 10:39, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Wait until it airs on television, then turn on English subtitles (or closed captions, depending on your country) and read what she says. ‑‑SilSinn (TIDs768426S123446UM💬 14:06, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Request to protect creation of page List of Pokémon by Galar Pokédex number

The Galar Pokédex has not yet been released, so it might be a good idea to protect (on grounds of speculation crackdown) the creation and editing of this page:

That way, we can make sure no speculator creates it with unconfirmed and/or unreliable information there. ‑‑SilSinn (TIDs768426S123446UM💬 05:20, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Ash's Meltan

No one is able to create a page for Ash's Meltan as it is protected so could you or another admin do it--BigDocFan (talk) 09:43, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Problematic User.

Dear Abcboy,

I am appealing to you for assistance. I have requested the indefinite blocking of GrammarFreak01 on account of the user’s edit stalking behaviour, the failure to adhere to staff warnings and blocks because of strings of useless edits. I have been on this platform for the past year and have made significant additions to the many anime sections including plot rewrites, new plots, character sections to recurring characters and stub removal. Majority of my edits, which do not require any significant changes, are typically changed by the end of the day by GrammarFreak01. Be it either a word change to a synonym, deleting gaps, changing the way apostrophes look, switching information around, and in some cases erroneously putting in misinformation for episode pages on almost every single one of my edits. This user typically edits other user’s edits and rarely makes contributions to a page’s information, aside from Voice Actor pages. I am not the first and only to be targeted, Mikuri and Erika124 have been affected also, but I have brought this issue up with ForceFire several times and my calls for GrammarFreak01 to be indefinitely blocked on this platform have not occurred. This behaviour is intimidating and not collaborative in any sense, and for many including myself they find that they no longer wish to contribute to the platform because their edits will simply be altered unnecessarily. I hope to hear shortly, PardescanSlowbro (talk) 17:58, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

He edits pages I've edited too, and I personally have no problem with him doing so. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 19:12, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
I find GrammarFreak01 to be a helpful member, I often ask him to check over pages I am working on for mainspacing, sometimes due to my wording and grammar--BigDocFan (talk) 19:32, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
I think their tendency to make such insignificant edits in such large numbers is concerning for another reason, but I don't see why a particular user would be discouraged or indimidated by them. It's not like they completely rewrite what you've written, so your overall effort isn't in vain. Kikugi (talk) 19:42, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
