Procedure (Applies to Diamond, Pearl and Platinum only)

  1. Select the Pokémon to be trained. Decide on what three stats to train. If any egg moves or TM moves are lucrative, find a way to pass them down.
  2. Breed the Pokémon, hatching many eggs until the desired nature is obtained.
  3. Use vitamins to raise the two stats that will be EV trained.
  4. Inflict Pokérus on the target Pokémon.
If the Pokémon has a high Attack stat:
  1. Go to Twinleaf Town and use the Super Rod to fish for Gyarados (2 Atk) and Seaking (2 Atk). Attach an Exp. Share to the Pokémon and let another defeat the wild Pokémon until the target is around level 10, rounding Attack EV stat to a multiple of 20, preferably 120.
  2. Go to Route 207 during the day and fight wild Machop (1 Atk). Attach the Power Bracer to the target Pokémon. When the Attack stat EV reaches 250, attach the item that will raise the second stat. Battle once more to max the Attack EV at 252 and the next stat at 108.
If the Pokémon has a high Special Attack stat:
  1. Go to the Old Chateau in Eterna Forest. Attach an Exp. Share to the Pokémon and let another defeat the wild Gastly (1 Sp. Atk) until the Pokémon is strong enough to defeat wild Gastly without much effort. Raise the stat until it reaches 250. Attach the item that will raise the second stat and battle one more Gastly to max Special Attack EV and set the next stat at 108.
Raising other stats:
  1. Go to Route 201 and battle wild Bidoof (1 HP) and Starly (1 Spd), raising as needed. Attach the Power items to increase the amount gained.
  2. Wild Geodude (1 Atk) on Route 207 can raise the Defense stat. Geodude and Onix in the Oreburgh Mine also provide the same.
  3. Tentacool (1 Sp Def) along the coast of Pastoria provide Special Defense.

Once the EVs are maxed, go to Sunyshore and verify with the Effort Ribbon. From there, attach a Lucky Egg and train as normal, proceeding along the routes based on the storyline, ending at Victory Road.
