strike one - volcano lion chapter

Volcanion (Japanese: ボルケニオン Volcanion) is a dual-type Fire/Water Legendary Pokémon.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Volcanion has yet to be officially revealed by Nintendo.

Biology

Volcanion is a red quadrupedal feline Pokémon. The front of Volcanion's body is segmented from its back legs by a teal band. The front of its body is oval-shaped and is pointed at the end, resembling a mountain. Two large cannon-like arms are situated on both sides of the top of its body. These arms are decorated with three blue loops and three blue spots each, and have an equal amount of small steam vents lining the outside. These arms are usually conjoined by golden claws, but detach when Volcanion attacks. Its shoulders have orange rings around them, similar rings border where Volcanion's legs join to its shoulders and paws respectively. Volcanion has large paws with three golden claws and topped with a steam vent on one side. Its face is feline-like with large, pointed ears with teal insides. Its cheeks are framed by yellow protrusions that resemble fur. It has a yellow chin, and blue eyes, with large yellow eyebrows.

Volcanion releases its internal steam through its arms with enough force to knock down a mountain.

Trivia

Origin

Volcanion appears to be based on the Ryukyuan シーサー shisa, or 狛犬 komainu, mythical creatures inspired by lions, tigers, and dogs. Statues of them in pairs are used as guardians that invite good spirits and repel evil ones. Its mechanical appearance and cannon-like "arms" may also draw inspiration from tanks. It may also be based on a steam engine.

Name origin

Volcanion is derived from volcano and lion. It may also contain a corruption of cannon.

Hoopa (Japanese: フーパー Hoopa) is a dual-type Psychic/Ghost Legendary Pokémon.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Hoopa has yet to be officially revealed or acknowledged by Nintendo.

Biology

Hoopa is a small Pokémon that is primarily a light violet colour. It has a pink "V" shape on its chest and has small golden spikes in place of shoulders. Hoopa's body ends at the golden hoop around its waist. Its arms are detached from the rest of its body, and taper with a small golden spike at the top. Its wrists have a large pink band around them and its hands have three pointed fingers. It has pink hair in a ponytail. On both sides of its head, it has bull-like horns which are adorned with a gold ring each. Hoopa has a yellow loop-like shape on its forehead, and its eyes have yellow sclera with green irises and white pupils. Hoopa uses its loop to warp space and teleports items it likes through it.

Origin

Considering its small stature and classification as the Mischief Pokémon, Hoopa may be based on an imp.

Name origin

Hoopa is derived from hoop. It may also be derived from loop.
