History

With Brycen in their debut movie called "Enter the Beartic"

Beartic was the first Pokémon of Brycen's that was shown.

Beartic is Brycen's partner and starred in some movies with the Gym Leader. It was first seen in Guarding the Guardian of the Mountain! training on a mountain. They save Ash and his friends from two boulders. Iris recoils from the Ice-type but Cilan is excited to be in the presence of a movie star. Later, Ash and his Krokorok train with Brycen and Beartic, but they find they cannot match the skills of the movie star duo. When a Pokémon hunter by the name of Rizzo and his two Jellicent appear, having captured a wild Volcarona who is the Guardian of the Mountain, Brycen and Beartic defeat Rizzo and his Jellicent and release Volcarona. At the end of the episode, Officer Jenny arrests Rizzo. Brycen then reveals to Ash and his friends that he is the Icirrus City Gym Leader.

In Caution: Icy Battle Conditions!, Beartic reappeared during Ash's Gym battle with Brycen, as the third and final Pokémon used by him. It was able to easily defeat Pignite despite the type disadvantage with its super-effective Brine and Aerial Ace attacks, leaving Ash with just Krokorok. Beartic was repeatedly able to block Krokorok's attacks, until the Desert Croc Pokémon finally scored direct hits on it with Stone Edge and Dig. After this, Krokorok grabbed two stones from his own Stone Edge, and collided with Beartic's Aerial Ace with the stones in his hands, defeating the Freezing Pokémon and earning Ash the Freeze Badge.

It reappeared in a flashback in Certain Up, Unova League!.
