Biography
Hello and welcome to my Bulbapedia user page! My name is Mitchell and I have been a fan of the Pokémon series since it's launch in the United States back in 1998. I started to really fall in love with Pokémon while I grew up watching the original series of the long running Pokémon anime. When I was 5, I received my first Pokémon game, that game being Pokémon Yellow. Since then, I have remained an avid and addicted fan. My next big game was Pokémon Sapphire, which I ended up getting as an easter gift back in 2003. The following year, I remember being very excited for the much anticipated Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Versions. I coveted the pre-order brochure I got as a treasure. For some reason though, Pokémon Emerald didn't feel as exciting to me as Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the game very much and have fond memories of the Hoenn Battle Frontier. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl in 2007 was no different, releasing near the end of my last year in Middle School. I counted down the days to April 22nd and I remember being in complete amazment when I first saw Dialga and Palkia on the official Pokémon website. I discovered Serebii in early 2008, and thanks to the site, my interest for the series has been fueled to be perhaps even stronger. The day in 2009 that Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver were announced, I remember being full of joy and looking extremely forward to having another adventure in Johto and Kanto with the fresh graphics of the Nintendo DS. On the day of release, I received 6 badges in that one day. I defeated the Indigo Plateau on the second day. That game holds the record for being my fastest playthrough of the main story in a Pokémon game. Every issue of CoroCoro felt like a gift from above. In 2010, I remember being ecstatic when I first saw Zoroark. Like many others, I knew that we would finally be getting a new generation. Every issue of CoroCoro featuring Pokémon Black and White was amazing to me. With every Generation V Pokémon revealed, I fell more and more in love with the games. With Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 out in North America, I loved the various changes and improvements that were brought to the Unova region. In Generation IV, Pokémon Platinum was my favorite game of the Sinnoh trilogy, and these two games are no exception. I love all the generations of Pokémon equally and I believe that each generation has their own strengths and weaknesses that make them unique. Shortly before the American release of Black 2 and White 2, an image suddenly surfaced in September of 2012. I found the image curious but nothing special. And then the following day, in an unexpected and surprising move, CoroCoro announced a new Mystery Dungeon game! I became completely overjoyed and beyond excited for the release in March 2013. I was wanting a Mystery Dungeon game with the Pokémon that were introduced in the 5th Generation for quite some time and I thought it wouldn't come. When Hurricane Sandy made her sheer presence known in my neighborhood, I became what I really thought to be what was traumatized beyond repair. I had always had a fear of weather ever since Hurricane Irene but thanks to Sandy, the fear managed to escalate into extreme paranoia. Because of this, my gaming life also took a turn for the worse. I really feel like I should of played Pokémon Black 2 more than I did in the past three months after the storm. Ever since the beginning of 2013, I have had a much more positive outlook on my life. With the help of a quiet period in the world of weather, I feel now more than ever that I will be able to rebound from the trauma that I faced. When Pokémon X and Y were announced on the 8th of January, I felt just as excited as a young child, a feeling I haven't really felt since HeartGold and SoulSilver. All of the new starter Pokémon and the legendary mascots look wonderful, some of the best ones yet in my opinion in a long time. I can't wait for more news on these games as well as their release worldwide this October!
Back in the Generation III era, I acquired various cheating devices to help aid me in the conquest of the games. However, this was mostly used to get infinite Rare Candies and a complete National Pokédex. It is something, that looking back on, I am not proud of. Since Pokémon Diamond and onward, I have been a clean player. I vow to one day return to Generation III and complete the games fairly.
I am also a fan of the Super Mario series. My first true game that I recall was Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. This is how I ended up falling in love with the character Yoshi. Before this game, I didn't really have a true addiction to the series. I played some of the games from time to time. But it is this game that begin my fueling of interest for Super Mario. Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, which was a gift along with my Nintendo Gamecube back in Christmas of 2003, was my next big game. My interest for the series picked up even further shortly afterward in February of 2004 when I visited my grandparents in Florida. My Grandfather had Super Mario Sunshine on his Gamecube. He didn't play it much, so we were able to take it back with us. I still even to this day consider it my favorite Super Mario game. It is also perhaps because my Grandfather was a victim of cancer and died in 2005. It was one of the few things of his that I had in my possession. I have always coveted the game and still enjoy playing it over and over, it never gets old. I was resistant to get a Nintendo DS at first but I soon succumbed in the end of August 2004 and went to a Best Buy to get one when I heard how cool it was from my best friend that got it earlier. Since 2004, I have been accumulating the various Mario games from the Mario side series installments to the main 3D adventure series. Not a single Mario game has gone undetected under my radar.
