Carmenstar97 joined Bulbapedia on October 22, 2010, after using the website for weeks without joining. She enjoys playing the Pokémon main series games, and believes the spin-off Pokémon games can be quite frustrating to play. When playing the games, she follows the same trend that Ash does in the anime: Electric, Flying, Grass, Fire, Water, and usually (but not always) Ground. At times, she may exclude one or more of the types she typically uses, depending on the Pokémon available in the game. When battling, she does not care for status moves, as she believes they are a waste of a turn, and prefers to make the opposing Pokémon faint right away.

History as a Pokémon Fan

I don't quite remember my early days as a Pokémon fan, as I was very young. I started out watching the Pokémon anime, and I loved it. I believe I started watching the anime around the end of the original series, as I have a faint memory of Misty traveling with Ash. I do remember May traveling with Ash. Some of the episodes I remember watching are In the Knicker of Time!, Tree's a Crowd, Taming of the Shroomish, You Said a Mouthful!, and Sharpedo Attack!. I stopped watching the anime after the ninth season started, because I didn't have Cartoon Network on my TV. My days as a Pokémon fan were pretty much over.

Then came one day in late August 2010, when I had nothing to do. So, what did I end up doing? I watched some of the first Pokémon episodes! I never would've guessed that I was soon to become a huge fan of Pokémon. And so, I wound up becoming one. I became so obsessed with it, that I did a whole bunch of research on it. I found out that there was Pokémon games, and surprisingly, I had never known about the games. In the course of about a month, I had watched every single episode that had aired, including the banned ones.

I wanted to learn more. I played Pokémon Crystal, my first Pokémon game, and I loved it. The only thing that upset me was the feeling that the game was shouting at me, with Caps Lock seemingly turned on permanently. I then took a step back, playing Pokémon Yellow. I loved walking around with Pikachu, and I liked how all of the starter Pokémon were given to you. Soon after that, I played Pokémon Emerald. It was in this game that I discovered my first shiny Pokémon. It was a level 6 Whismur in Rusturf Tunnel. I didn't know anything about shiny Pokémon, but I caught it anyways, because I knew it looked different. I only focused on two of my Pokémon: Blaziken and Altaria), and I regret doing that, as I barely beat the Elite Four (I had to rely on Rayquaza to help me). I am currently replaying through Pokémon Emerald with Mudkip as my starter Pokémon.

Then came the games on the Nintendo DS. The touchscreen features made the games more fun to play. I played Pokémon Platinum, and I have dedicated the most time on this game (300+ hours). I felt the most satisfied with this game, and I loved my team. After giving up on my Platinum game, I played Pokémon White. I really enjoyed this game. The seasons are a nice addition. The only problem I have with this game is that I can't get Reshiram without trading. I will buy the English version of Pokémon White when it comes out.

History on Bulbapedia

While I watched the old episodes of Pokémon, my sister discovered Bulbapedia. She suggested I use the website to find some information on Pokémon. When I first saw the website, I was confused. The first thing I saw was the countdown to September 18, 2010. I didn't understand what the point of a countdown to a "random day" was. I used the website for anime purposes, and I loved how organized it was! There were specific colors for each specific type, and I especially loved how the top portion of each page had a little green, green being my favorite color. I lurked Bulbapedia for a while before joining. About 2 months after joining, I made my first edit, on December 25, 2010. Every now and then I edit pages, although they are usually minor edits. I am still getting to know my way around Bulbapedia, as it takes a while for me to become familiar with certain things. I enjoy helping out on Bulbapedia, and I hope for Bulbapedia to be more complete!
