In the Junior Warlord Competition, the starting kingdoms each army is placed in are entirely random; a player may repeat the same story twice and not be in the same kingdom as before. Armies that start in two or three kingdoms will always occupy two or three kingdoms regardless of story or randomization, and each kingdom starting under a specific Junior Warlord will always be adjacent to one other. The Warriors in each army remain the same from story to story.

Each default army is presented below. As the months pass, the armies will develop by recruiting Warriors, forming links, increasing links, equipping items, investing in locations, and challenging other kingdoms to battle.
