Hey there! I'm Aggron989. Pokémon is one of my hopeless obsessions.
I can't honestly say that I remember when I first really started getting into Pokémon, but my very first game was Pokémon Ruby. I was really young when I first started playing and I didn't know how to do anything, so I borrowed someone else's Swampert to power my way through the entire game - I still recall with amusement when it fell asleep on me in Roxanne's Gym. But I digress. Since then, I've gotten a lot better and I am now acquainted with this concept of IV-breeding and EV-training. What? There's actual math behind Pokémon battles? How about that. Starting in Generation IV, I began actively paying attention to my Pokémon's stats and IVs and I finally got truly good* at making competitive Pokémon in Omega Ruby, where I now spend much of my time battling other people online. I haven't participated in any tournaments, but the Battle Spot usually provides fun challenges. Well, except for the legendary spammers, they're just being annoying. In terms of the Pokédex, I am just a few Mythical Pokémon short of having the National Pokédex complete. I also play the Pokémon Ranger and Mystery Dungeon games. It took the Mystery Dungeon series a long time to actually get my personality right... Red Rescue Team insisted that I was a calm person, even when I took the test three times in a row.
It's debatable whether I'm a bigger fan of the anime or the games. I've seen every main series episode of the anime and I've been making sure to watch each new episode as soon as possible. I still haven't seen all of the Chronicles yet, and I've seen all but one of the movies. I'm a PokéShipper even thirteen seasons after Misty's exit from the series, because there was a certain spark in her friendship with Ash that has yet to be replicated in any of his other female friends (although I think Iris wins second place for that). But that doesn't really matter. I don't watch the anime so I can ship characters together. I love the anime. It's a lot of fun and although I do like other animes, I like that Pokémon isn't as graphic (or sometimes just plain disturbing) as others can be. My favorite episode is Pikachu's Goodbye and my favorite characters include Misty, James, Max, Cilan, Iris, Clemont, and Bonnie. I like all of the main characters, actually. I'd just say that those are my favorites.
I have been keeping just as much up-to-date with the manga as I have with the anime and games. Oh, don't I wish. I love the manga, but unfortunately I have not yet read the FRLG, Emerald, HGSS, half of BW, B2W2, nearly all of XY, or any of the ORAS chapters. Maybe I'll catch up on that someday. Of the manga chapters that I have read, my favorite is RS and my favorite characters are Ruby, Sapphire, and Black. My favorite Pokémon in the manga is Feefee.
Me and Bulbapedia
I joined Bulbapedia back in December of 2012, when I was one of those new users that just added random bits of trivia or asked questions that didn't really need to be asked if I actually did my research before asking the question. But I've gotten better... I think. As of late, I've tended to focus on the anime articles more than anything else, although I contribute wherever I see something that needs editing.
I try to be as nice as I can when I interact with other users. It's very easy for people to misunderstand each other while communicating online, so I tend to be very conscious about what I post for the public to see. If you ever feel like I'm being a jerk, please let me know, because I definitely do not want to come across that way!
Video game stuff
- I'm a diehard Ness user in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. My second best character is Luigi, but the difference in my skill level between the two of them is huge.
- My favorite video game is Metroid Fusion, but I haven't played any other Metroid games to completion except for that one.
- My other video game interests include Phoenix Wright, Harvest Moon, the Legend of Zelda, Sonic (sort of), Super Smash Bros., and Mario.
