The Twinleaf Festival (Japanese: フタバ祭り Futaba Festival) is an anime-exclusive event that is held annually in Twinleaf Town.
It was first mentioned in Barry's Busting Out All Over!, when Dawn remembered that Barry once sang a duet in the event. In Three Sides to Every Story!, it was revealed that Johanna had been elected to be the chairperson of the most recent festival. She along with Sayer, Cara, and Izzy were in charge of organizing the attractions and stalls.
Dawn returned home with her friends to attend the festival. The group arrived in Twinleaf Town in Strategy Begins at Home! and stayed there until Challenging a Towering Figure!. A disguised Team Rocket trio also took part in the event, working for Sayer.
Attractions
Professor Oak came all the way from Pallet Town as a special guest in order to give a lecture on "the interrelation of Pokémon and Evolutionary stones" on the first day of the festival. The lecture took place in the Twinleaf Auditorium in A Faux Oak Finish!.
The festival had many different contest booths, one of which was given to Brock and one to the Team Rocket trio; in Historical Mystery Tour!, a rivalry between Team Rocket's Goldeen Scoop Game and Brock's stall occurred due to Team Rocket's being much more successful.
There was also a singing competition at the end of the festival in which Barry took part.
Festival Battle Challenge
The festival was also host to the tournament called the Festival Battle Challenge, from which the winner got the opportunity to battle Tower Tycoon Palmer from Sinnoh's Battle Frontier. Ash, Dawn, Brock, and Barry all entered the tournament in Challenging a Towering Figure!. Ultimately, Ash won and was given a gold trophy as well as the chance to face off against Palmer. Ash used his Grotle, but lost to Palmer's Rhyperior.
