Twineedle (Japanese: ダブルニードル Double Needle) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I. Prior to Generation V, it was Beedrill's signature move.
Effect
Generation I
Twineedle inflicts damage, and has a 20% chance of poisoning the target. Twineedle hits twice per use. Although technically only the first hit can critical hit, each hit per use will do the same amount of damage.
Twineedle will end immediately if it breaks a Substitute. Bide and Counter will only acknowledge one hit of this move.
Twineedle can't poison a target that has a Substitute, already has a major status ailment, or is a Template:Type2.
Generation II
Same as Generation I, and is the only move able to Poison a Template:Type2.
Generation III
Same as Generation II, but it cannot poison Steel- and Template:Type2s.
Generation IV
Same as Generation III, except it will continue attacking after a Substitute is broken.
Generation V
Unlike previous generations, if Focus Sash, Focus Band, or Sturdy activate before the last hit is dealt, the following hit will cause the defending Pokémon to faint. Each hit will also cause Broken Armor to activate.

Trivia
- Twineedle is the only Template:Type2 move so far that can poison.
- Twineedle is the only move that can poison a Template:Type2 Pokémon, as it is a Bug-type move instead of a Poison-type move. However, this only works in Generation II.
