Trubbish (Japanese: ヤブクロン Yabukuron) is a Poison-type Pokémon.

It evolves into Garbodor starting at level 36.

Biology

Physiology

Trubbish resemble a full, dark green garbage bag that is knotted at the top. The "tied ends" of the "knot" act like ears. Trubbish have oval-shaped eyes, large triangular teeth that resemble broken glass, and arms that look like trash spilling out of small tears in the bag with pink and blue colored objects protruding out of them. Their feet are dark green and stubby.

Special abilities

Trubbish emit noxious, burp-like gases which, when inhaled, will render the victim bedridden for a week.

Behavior

As evidenced in Here Comes the Trubbish Squad!, Trubbish's ear-like tufts stand straight up when startled, are lifted if happy, and lowered if it is feeling down. Furthermore, in the same episode, it is also explained that once Trubbish befriends a person, it will cease expelling foul odors.

Habitat

This Pokémon was created when a garbage dump accidentally had a chemical change of some sort. They prefer unsanitary places, such as garbage dumps.

Trubbish appeared in Here Comes the Trubbish Squad! where a bunch of kindergartners befriended it. However their kindergarten teacher, Daniela, thought it would eat all the children's toys. In the end, Trubbish saved the kindergartners' lives, and was adopted by Daniela and the Kindergartners.

A group of Trubbish appeared in BW105.

Minor appearances

A Trubbish appeared in Clash of the Connoisseurs! in a fantasy.

Janitor Geoff owns a Trubbish that he used to battle Black. It used its terrible smell to prevent Black's Pokémon from getting close to it; Tep needed to cover his nose to defeat it.

Trivia

• Trubbish, along with its evolution Garbodor, are the only pure Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
• Trubbish is one of three Pokémon that learns both Stockpile and Swallow but not Spit Up. The others are Munchlax and Garbodor.
  • Further, it is one of four Pokémon that learns Stockpile but only one of either Swallow or Spit Up. The other three are Qwilfish and the aforementioned Munchlax and Garbodor.
• Trubbish was leaked internationally in the opening for Pokémon: Black & White.
• Trubbish shares similar traits to Grimer and Koffing. All three Pokémon are pure Poison types with a single evolution, roughly the same base stat totals and evolution levels, and appear to be based of a certain pollution; Trubbish being land pollution.

Origin

Trubbish is based on a full garbage bag. Trubbish may also be based on the imagined fear that heavy pollution, caused by the leakage and/or improper disposal of toxic/radioactive waste, may result in the creation of new and undesirable life.

Name origin

Trubbish is a combination of trash and rubbish.

Yabukuron may be a combination of 破く yabuku (to tear) or 破ける yabukeru (to get torn) and 袋 fukuro (bag) or ぶくぶく bukubuku (loose-fitting/baggy).
