Trivia

  • Tornelos is the first and so far only pure Flying-type Pokémon. However, other Pokémon were able to become pure Flying-types through their abilities, such as Kecleon and Arceus.
    • This also makes him the only purely typed Pokémon with a unique type combination.
  • Tornelos and Voltolos have identical base stat distribution.
  • Tornelos is the only Generation V legendary Pokémon with only one type.
  • When Tornelos appears on Route 7, Voltolos's cry is heard.
  • Despite being called the "Whirlwind Pokémon", Tornelos is not able to learn the move Whirlwind. This is probably due to the move "Whirlwind" being called "Blow Away" in Japan.

Origin

Tornelos is based on Fūjin, the kami of wind.

Name origin

The name Tornelos is from トルネード, tornado.
