Biology
Biology
Physiology
Torchic is a small, chick Pokémon with stubby, downy, yellow wings. Its body is covered with orange feathers and a fluffy coat of down. There is an orange and yellow crest on its head that resembles a flame. Its two thin legs and short beak are a light brownish yellow, and the feet have three toes in front and one in the back. A male Torchic will have a small black speck on its rear that is not present in females.
Torchic is a small chick that is covered in orange and yellow downy feathers. Its wings are underdeveloped and are almost useless aside from keeping the Pokémon warm. Its legs and feet however are well developed for running and scratching. It also has a crest on its head which vaguely resembles a flame, and it is the only set of feathers that stick up. It also possesses a flame sac much like other fire Pokémon: Vulpix and Flareon.

Gender differences
Within Torchic's belly, this Pokémon has a flame sac filled with a burning fire. This internal flame causes Torchic to feel warm if hugged. The warmth feels similar to a warm water bottle. As long as Torchic is alive, the internal flame will burn continuously. When attacked, it will shoot fireballs of 1,800 °F (1,000 °C) at its foes, leaving them scorched black. It dislikes darkness, as it cannot see its surroundings. Torchic will follow its Trainer with unsteady steps. While Torchic is rarely found in the wild, it is known to inhabit List of Pokémon by habitat. It has been recently seen living in the Terarium of Blueberry Academy.
Male Torchic has a very small black speck on their rears. Females do not have this mark.

Evolution
Torchic evolves into Combusken, which evolves into Blaziken.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Major appearances
May's Torchic
May started her Pokémon journey with a Torchic that she obtained in Get the Show on the Road!. It evolved into a Combusken in A Shroomish Skirmish, and later into a Blaziken in Once More with Reeling!.

Other
In Having a Wailord of a Time, Ash, Max, and Brock were given the task of watching over a Torchic and the rest of the Hoenn first partner Pokémon for Nurse Joy while May was practicing with her May. ===Behavior===
A Torchic appeared in Sawyer's flashback in Rivals: Today and Tomorrow!, when he was selecting his first partner Pokémon from Professor Birch.
Being a young Pokémon, Torchic is naturally curious and is very inquisitive about its environment. Thus, it needs someone to guide it and to train it. It will follow its Trainer with unsteady steps. Individual personalities range from meek to headstrong. Torchic apparently doesn't like the dark because it cannot see what is in front of it.

Habitat
In A Crowning Moment of Truth!, five Trainers' Torchic attended the Wela Fire Festival. A Torchic belonging to a sixth Trainer also appeared in a flashback.

Torchic is rare in the wild, and is most likely to be found under the possession of Trainers that choose it as a starter. However, in the wild it is most likely to be found in Hoenn.

It eventually evolved into a Combusken and later into a Blaziken, which in turn was capable of Mega Evolving.

* Concept art from Ruby and Sapphire portrays a different Torchic design, with large floppy ears and a flame-shaped marking on the back of its head.
* Torchic is the only starter Pokémon available in the wild, being found on the Pokéwalker course Sightseeing, along with Pikachu.
* Torchic is the only first stage of a first partner Pokémon that has a gender difference (though its own is very easily missed, being only a one-pixel difference).
** Prior to Platinum, it was also the only starter allowed in Amity Square, along with Pikachu.

* Torchic has the lightest weight of all the basic forms of the Starters.

** However, both Torchic and Combusken are both based on birds, so this makes sense.
* With Tepig, Torchic is the slowest of all the Fire-type starters, with a base speed of only 45.
* Torchic is the only Fire-type starter that Ash has never owned.
* In Generation V, Torchic learns a new move every 3 levels, then every 6 levels. 10, 16, 19, 25, etc.
* Torchic is the lightest Fire Pokémon.
* Although Torchic is clearly based on a bird, it is not in the Flying Egg Group. It shares this trait with Delibird, Piplup and Prinplup Empoleon.

It appears to have been based on a chicken hatchling. Torchic may also be based on the basan, a legendary fire-breathing chicken.
Torchic is based on a chicken hatchling. In particular, Torchic's bright orange coloration is based on painted chicks, which are chicks whose feathers are dyed with paint and are typically sold during festivals and fairs. It may also be specifically based on the Basan (legendary bird), a legendary fire-breathing chicken in Japanese folklore.

Torchic's gender difference may be based on Chick sexing#Vent sexing, a chick sexing technique that originated in Japan, where feces is squeezed out of the chick in order to open its cloaca, allowing the chick sexer to observe whether it has a bump inside its cloaca. Normally only male chicks have this bump.

Torchic (Japanese: アチャモ Achamo) is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves into Combusken starting at level 16, which evolves into Blaziken starting at level 36.

Along with Treecko and Mudkip, Torchic is one of the three first partner Pokémon of Hoenn available at the beginning of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire.

Biology

Torchic is a small, chick Pokémon with stubby, downy, yellow wings. Its body is covered with orange feathers and a fluffy coat of down. There is an orange and yellow crest on its head that resembles a flame. Its two thin legs and short beak are a light brownish yellow, and the feet have three toes in front and one in the back. A male Torchic will have a small black speck on its rear that is not present in females.

While Torchic is rarely found in the wild, it is known to inhabit grasslands. It has been recently seen living in the Terarium of Blueberry Academy.

Evolution

Torchic evolves into Combusken, which evolves into Blaziken.

Trivia

Concept Art of Torchic

Origin

Torchic is based on a chicken hatchling. In particular, Torchic's bright orange coloration is based on painted chicks, which are chicks whose feathers are dyed with paint and are typically sold during festivals and fairs.[1] It may also be specifically based on the basan, a legendary fire-breathing chicken in Japanese folklore.

Torchic's gender difference may be based on vent sexing, a chick sexing technique that originated in Japan, where feces is squeezed out of the chick in order to open its cloaca, allowing the chick sexer to observe whether it has a bump inside its cloaca. Normally only male chicks have this bump.

Name origin

Torchic may be a combination of torch and chick (a baby bird).

Achamo may be a combination of 赤ちゃん akachan (baby) and 軍鶏 shamo (a breed of Japanese chicken once raised for fighting).
