Tobias (Japanese: アーシア島の長老 Earthia Island Elder) is a character from The Power of One. He is an elder of the natives of Shamouti Island.
History
Tobias is the one who informs Ash Ketchum and his friends of the ancient prophecy regarding the Legendary Birds and the guardian of the seas, Lugia. Like Carol and Melody, he doesn't take the island tradition that seriously. He whispers to Ash, "It's just for the tourists!"
Tobias and Carol stay on Shamouti while Ash and Maren, and eventually Misty, Tracey, and Melody, set out to collect the three orbs of Fire, Ice, and Lightning to fulfill the prophecy.
